Xubuntu is really nice. I really like XFCE, even on systems with nice specs.
The various *buntus are very user friendly, and well supported. You will find .deb packages for just about any software you want, and most packages are in the Ubuntu repositories. You can try Fedora/XFCE, but you will probably go back to Xubuntu in the end. I have tried variously Arch, Debian, Linux Mint, OpenSUSE, Fedora/RedHat, DamnSmallLinux, and Slackware, and I always find myself back on the *buntu after a while.
Nice desktop!
Yes, that also was my point, I just wanted to get a lightweight distro, even though my system is a good gaming RIG, for that was one of the main reasons I switched to
Linux, compared to my last heavy
7 OS.
I think you're right, given that I already have a dual-boot with
Fedora, but as I have some problems (no sound, etc ...), and not much time, as of now, to fix them, I'm staying on Xubuntu most of the time.
That said, I'm still looking for a very lightweight distro for my NetBook [Tried
SliTaz (almost good, but not enough compatibility with printers/webcams for example ...),
Puppy Linux,
Tiny Core, but not really enjoying them ...]
And thanks !
PS : I think I'm going a bit (too much) out of the subject here. But isn't there a
Linux thread somewhere ? Didn't find it ^^'
