CM Storm QuickFire XT keycaps?
« on: Wed, 11 December 2013, 07:14:20 »
Just wondering if anyone knew a place to get ones for this ? have it coming in a few days and I kinda went a red ESC key after seeing so many Keyboards with it. Thing is, I am terrible at searching / knowing what is compatible.

The keyboard: http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=10065

Dunno why, usually not a fan of thingsx like this that stick out, but after seeing SO many Keyboards with red-keys, the contrast to the black ones...looks sexy. Thanks!

Any set for 104 key standard keyboard will work.

Do you want a whole set or just a red escape key?

Do you know if you want ABS or  PBT and/or what profile?

Is there anyway to get them at a reasonable price? I can't find singular Esc keys for sale, only WASD cluster / 39 piece sets / 104 piece sets, and they're all very expensive for what is like 15 cents of plastic.

Elitekeyboards has some, but it's 7$ including shipping...for a SINGLE key.

Most people here replace keycaps because they want something better than what came on the keyboard. A lot of the nicer key cap sets costs as much or more than the keyboard. Not saying all of them do.

US, New Hampshire.

I just can't justify 5$ for a single key, I was thinking like 99 cents and free shipping, maybe...but...eh.  The Elitekeyboards 104 pieces looks nice, but it's 11$ shipping - so total of 31$ for Keycaps? I know I see some people here paying loads, but to me, that's an insane price.

You're going to be hard-pressed to find a better deal.

Two alternatives:
Tai Hao ABS keycaps from KeyPop for $25 + $6 shipping to US: http://www.keypop.net/category/keyboard-sets
Keycool thin PBT from Banggood for $24 + free but insanely slow shipping: http://www.banggood.com/buy/pbt.html

You should use one of these as your Red Esc key:

Shoot me your address in a PM. I'll send you a few novelty keys to play with.

I don't see why they are so expensive. Custom molds or something? Or just jacked up prices? 5 cents of plastic for 5$?

Lol @ CCP keys.

I saw some posts about those already. People paying 30$ per key or so...a few hundred for the complete set. I really can't fathom that. The keys on their keyboard are often more expensive than the keyboard itself! Absurdity.

GH Keycap?

And yeah, the Keyboard itself has to get here first...lol, I wish it'd get here Friday, but I doubt it, probably Monday or Tuesday.

Geek Hack Keycap, is that what you meant? Hmm, interesting. Thank you!

Oh thanks man,  all I really wanted, I really appreciate it.

Do you know where I could get something like this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111226154962?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

But with text ON top? and around that price range? Cause that looks pretty sweet and that's a nice price.  I like the color, but not the letters on the side.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Cherry-MX-Laser-Etched-Keycaps-37-Set-Keyboard-Key-Caps-/120988462491?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item1c2b796d9b

This is twice as expensive for text on top...not really willing to pay that much, if Iw as, I'd jsut go to Elite Keyboards and get the 31$ 104 piece.

So the Esc Key just came in.

And I thank you for it. However, the key itself is...about 20% smaller than the other keys, so it looks kind of odd. Still, thanks!

Was the Geekhack key the right size? If not it sounds like you don't have an OEM profile set. Cherry is a bit taller. You can pick up a red Cherry GMK ESC
from Elite Keyboards :)

So the red esc he send is cherry profile which is actually a little bit shorter than OEM profile (what you have on your keyboard).  Though generally people regard cherry esc to be higher quality (thicker and double shot).

If you want exact match you might have to get this:
http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/printed-keycap-singles/esc-cherry-mx-keycap.html

Hope this helps.

Look for spacebar, it's the same OEM as QuickFire XT so it should fit perfectly.
