This is great news! Would this PCB be offered in the price stated? Or would it be the DZ60?
190 USD include case, brass plate, brass weight, PCB(you can choose DZ60 or Fusion60 PCB) and screws

2nd Prototype with bigger brass weight and hole on the side to let RGB light bleed trough

Please note:
- the gold plate and wight on this prototype is made with Aluminum and than anodize gold.. the real product will be real brass weight and real brass plate.

Mini USB wont fit

I could make it compatible for mini USB, but there will be a big hole/gap if you use USB Type C.. and since USB Type C is the future.. so this case will only support USB type C

I personally plan on using a usb-c pcb if I end up joining the GB. But I still think it's silly not to have a cutout that supports both type c and mini.

I disagree, Vulcan already mentioned that the finish would not be as perfect if mini is supported.

With such a beautiful case I definitely prefer less input type flexibility and better finish/look :)

The finish product will have abit bigger cut out though.. since i just notice that the cutout in the prototype also wont fit certain type of USB Type C..

So probably it will fit a smaller mini usb..

I try to make this case fit all mini usb type c but only certain type of mini usb (maybe slim version)

Yeah small tolerances for slightly bigger USB C hole might be a great idea.

Please build your prototype and do a typing sound  :p

I can't wait for this, it's not often that gold is used as a case colour in these group buys. Hopefully it goes well with GMK Red Samurai. Also looking forward to having the side RGB LEDs. The PCB supports all the layouts of the DZ60 right?

That is the plan yes. But OP is currently waiting from manufacturer's confirmation who is rather slow at responding.

Nigolski got it right. OP is currently sorting out kinks and loose ends to make sure everything is where he wants it to be before opening the GB.

Hello mate,

I am so hyped to see that you have come so far with your ideas. I myself wanna build a wooden 75% case, my relatives have a company where they have all the wood material and machines but the only thing I lack on is 3d skills to model my case. I know you have a lot to do yourself in your life, but I would be glad if you could help me out :)

So how do I design a keyboard so a 75% PCB fits into my case? Like how do I know where the screw place must be placed and how deep a case must be so the keycaps are not to low or too high...etc

How did you do? Any tips for me? :)

Have a nice day!

Hey there, this thread needs to stay on the topic of the Fusion60 but in the mean time you should check out https://kbwiki.ai03.me/ since it has dedicated content to designing keyboard cases and PCBs. Good luck!

Hai Everyone!

Im very sorry for staying quiet for the past weeks, and I'm also very sorry that the GB did not started last agust as promist.

the fusion60 case prototype is looking really great, but we had some problem on the PCB prototype, this is what the PCB prototype looks like.

we reposition the dz60 RGB to the side of the PCB.. but unfortunately this method does not work well the light does not bleed bright as expected

The problem is because the placement of the RGB SMD is too close to the bottom case, the bottom case is blocking the RGB SMD. we thought this problem can be fix easily by making the side hole wider.. and yes it made it brighter.. but still too dim. We believe we can do better.

From what we see..The only way to fix this is by making the RGB SMD position higher from the bottom case.. and since making the top case higher is not an option so we decided to redesign the PCB.. this is our plan

What do you guys think? any ideas or suggestion?

Btw.. here is some photo of the latest prototype

The case as usual looking amazing...
The shine for the rgb issue :

- perhaps try this on a sliver anodized or light gold anodized case ? ( If you can bead blast it again and reanodize it)
I think the side LEDs would look dim on darker colors.

- perhaps position the bottom so that the light falls also on the desk, this might be a good effect even if there is not a lot of light on the facet design.

- make LEDs brighter ??

- personally for me the LEDs don't matter, pcb swap is bigger for a standard 60%. But I know a lot of folks want the RGB on this board...

Really appreciate you taking the time to get your visit right rather than jumping in to it. Me at least, I'll wait for this board, because it's perfect !

As of now, Vulcan is looking to keep it like the prototype (without acrylic/polycarb) as the light is already dim enough even without those covers.

Im not going to use any acrylic or polycarbonate.. because the concept is to make the light bleed trough.. not diffused

it's not the color, i have even tried to put mirror stickers and still did not affect much. The LED is at the brightest when i tested out, i also have talk to the pcb engineer and he said that there is no RGB LED brighter then that.. the only LED that is brighter that that does not support RGB, only white color.

thank you very much for being patience, please bare with me :)

The anodized aluminum is probably absorbing a lot of the light, especially since not all of the light goes straight up, but to the sides as well. Have you considered adding light pipes to the LEDs? I think that may be your best bet.

getting the effect below in real life might be difficult - I think everyone will understand that though.

Have you tried using a through hole LED right on teh opening, perhaps behind a diffuser with reflective/mirror tape on one side ?
Or maybe something like this :

https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/high-powered/vollong-3w-rgb-high-power-led/899/2214/

Thats too big, but perhaps an equivalent LED ?

What do the current LEDs look like when the keyboard is lain flat on a table with not bright lighting like it might be in normal use.
