I'm sorry for the bad experience. I will definitely look at another hosting company soon.
And people complain MD recap are **** shows, at least the site doesn't go down....and when its finally back up, what you want is gone.
I assume that popkorn62 has already known this, just wanna drop a comment for people without background comparing with MD. Forgive me if I am wrong about something.
Scaling a system/website for overcrowding one-off events like groupbuys is always challenging. The host you are comfortably paying may have 99.99% uptime since not all of your customers visit it at the same time, the traffic may be actually lower if most of your products are out of stock. However, during the GB period, the site will crash since it's never meant to handle that large number of concurrent users.
Small businesses have to consider p/p when using hosting. Some using services such as Shopify or Wix don't have to worry about the issue but with some limitations. TX has its own website with more flexibility but also on its own to handle scalability issues. The solution, in this case, maybe using a more scalable platform (e.g. AWS, DO, etc.), then upscale the site during GB and downscale it later.
Unlike TX, MD is a serious business with big money and definitely has a professional team to handle "recap" time.
TL;DR: TX needs to pay (wisely) more for a hosting during GB time.
