Title: What time do you sleep
Post by: Sniping on Tue, 03 December 2019, 05:02:11
Been going to bed between 2-3 lately, no bueno  :-\  Anyone else just climb into bed and waste an hour or two before actually falling asleep

I usually fall asleep fairly quickly. By 7-8pm I’m starting to get sleepy and try to go to bed by 9-10 and once my wife and I are all settled I’d say I’m usually out within 10-15 minutes.

Though lately I’ve been more awake at night which is bumming me out as I’m getting less sleep so the 530am wake up is more of a chore.

Doesn't matter what time I go to bed give me 5 mins and I'm asleep, unless I'm in serious pain or forcing myself to go to bed early to get up early for something.

As to 'bedtime' currently it should be around 2AM meaning I'm awake by 9 with no alarm clock but my stupidity illness usually makes me wake up at 10 whether I go to bed at 10 or 4, and I'm still going to feel tired regardless so depends entirely on how soon I get bored.

I generally don't 'sleep' sleep. I kind of just lay in bed with my eyes closed for 7-8 hrs, half awake and completely aware. No rem sleep ever, but it seems to be restful enough to get through the days.

Get in bed about 10:00, read until about 10:30, get up (with alarm clock) about 6:15 week days, without alarm clock about 7:15 weekends.

Most of that time is sleeping, but often there is up to an hour of wakefulness in the middle somewhere.

8pm-4am. I like getting up and doing my yoga and reading before everyone else starts their day.

Usually go to bed around midnight, wake up at 6:50 plus a few snoozes.

I'm lucky if I last 5 min in bed without falling asleep, but I usually fail at that, so I'm a VERY slow reader xD .

Reading a novel can help me not spend the night thinking about stuff.
When my reading turns sluggish, I turn off the light and fall asleep not long after.

Pretty close to this. Usually 8-10pm, and I'm up by 5AM religiously.

Tried yoga, flopped on the ground like fish.

A good book and I forget about the time and about when I fall asleep. But recently I got a series of nightmares. It was completely strange to me. I saw one door, which I wanted to open and to enter, but every time I approached to it, it disappeared. You know I really take things to heart, so I started to look for an explanation. Pretty much immediately I found a good medium at https://dreams-meaning.com/blog/bees-in-dreams . Amanda turned out a good specialist with an outgoing nature. She helped me with understanding my dreams and guided me through some needed stuff. Feel free to check her blog, there is so much tried and tested information there!

I bed around 10pm, up by 6.
if I feel like going crazy I'll stay up until 12AM on the weekends. I know I'm a mad man.

Determined to sleep only a quarter of my life, rather than one third. I go to sleep at 3/4am and get up at 10.

Too late. Always.

We've got a three-year-old son and so his bedtime is around 7PM and we don't typically get to bed until midnight or a little later. Never really any later than 1am.

I am always on night duty, because I'm a light sleeper and so am awake regardless and so sometimes I get an unbroken night, sometimes I don't. Our son will usually wake up at about 7am, so a lot of tiredness. I can't cope with the lack of sleep as well in my mid-30s compared to my 20s, haha.

TDD (Tired Dumbass Disease) has gone for now and work has changed - new weekday routine is bed at 10ish, up at 5.  Will probably go back to 2AM or later Saturdays but currently going to bed around midnight when there's no work in the morning and waking around 7.

I must be getting old, six hours used to be enough :(

I got to bed about 12pm. Asleep 1am get up at 8.30am or so.

My question for all the people who go to bed at 8 to 10pm and are back up at the crack of dawn being healthy is was this always your pattern or did you work on it? My brother and mother seem to get really tired after 9pm and just go to bed. I could stay up till 2 or 3 no problem I have to be quite conscious to not do it. The evenings the most fun part of my day I can watch tv/movies and play videogames uninterrupted!

i am not sure it is healthy at all, i think that part of it is a legend, i do it for work (need to wake up at 6:30 am else i am late) and i do often end up late anyhow because sleeping at 10 pm is hard

So I've discovered during the pandemic/unemployment that if I just do whatever whenever my sleep sched naturally falls into 6AM-3PM
No alarms, no planning, just my body naturally doing it's thing. I'll also usually lounge in bed for 1-2hrs until I have to either piss or get hungry. That's what happens when you have zero responsibilities. It would be nice to once again look forward to getting up, actually having a reason, but I haven't had that in years.
What a waste.

Mon- Fri: Go to bed at 10-10:30pm wake up at 6:30a
Sat/Sun: Go to bed around 11pm-12am - wake up at 7:30-8am

I'm definitely not a morning person but I have pushed myself to wake up at a decent time as to not waste the day.

Right now, bedtime is usually 11:30 PM to 1:30 AM. I usually wake up somewhere around 7:30 or 8:00 AM and try in vain to go back to sleep for another 30 or 45 minutes.

If I didn't have to get up for anything, I'd go sleep around 2 or 3 AM and wake up at 10:30 AM. That's usually what happens on Saturday mornings.

I hate waking up early, but I like getting out and doing things early. Conversely, I like sleeping in, but I hate not actually doing anything until 12:30 or 1:00 PM.

Sleep head facing unshaded window, so you can't turn away from the sunlight in the morning, it wakes you up, this is biologically written, sunlight + eyes = melotonin stops production, initiate wake cycle.

I sleep around 2-4AM and wake up at 10-11AM. Usually when I'm in bed, I like to enable night shift on my phone and have a video running in the background, as it helps me avoid thinking about anything before trying to fall asleep. Meditating would be my 2nd option if I feel like it.

Whether you go to sleep at 2AM and wake up at 10AM, or be it 10PM to 6AM, the time spent awake will be the same. In both cases 16 Hours. If you are naturally not a "morning person", which is genetically predisposed, you might even be more productive if you decided to go to sleep later since more of your day will be spent during the evening and night hours of the day. I certainly know I am far more productive and active during late hours.

Well the expensive ones supposedly has a spectral density similar to sunlight, such that it provides that natural wake cycle initiation.

You can of course just do the same thing with a proper color-proofing lamp wired up to an arduino.

Yep.  I usually use this to read something light (maybe some basic sci fi like something from the Halo saga, nothing complicated like Dune or Ender's Game).
