Update
18th Jan.********
  • Change the R3 height of NON-STANDARD from 1U "FN" to 1.25
  • Recently, the purchase link has been published. Thank you for your support.
31th Dec.********
  • Received proofing color individual key, due to the level of photography and lighting conditions slightly evil, can only compromise to see;
    The degree of reduction of the novel key is OK;
In terms of color, the blue color is a little bit darker, so I'm going to keep mixing. :)
23th Dec.********
  • Layout fine-tuning update adds some purple return.
  • In terms of production, samples of personality keys have been made and waiting for color samples to be sent to me.
  • The GB is expected to be before the 5th of Feb.
11th Oct.********
  • 1. New group purchase mode
    Complete the production of the sample before starting the group (the production period of the sample is about 45 days), start the production immediately, save the waiting time after payment, and reduce the probability of rollover;
This group purchase is a group purchase with Maxkey at most kit, which is sold according to kit.
Since the keys are all different, the packaging can only provide plastic bags.
  • 2. Adjustment of novel bond: adjustment of the rocket pattern.
11th Sept.********
  • All layouts are adjusted.
  • Will make by Maxkey.
  • Add ‘Minila’, ‘660’, ‘full short space bar(Among them, 2.25u, 2.75u, 2u, 1.75u are sink space bar)’, ‘40%’layout,etc...See the layout for images
  • Delete some 1.5u novelty key.
15th Jul.********
  • Add Ergo kit.
27th Jun.********
  • New layout for SP.
4th Jun.********
  • Novelty kits add a yellow return.
  • Modifiers kits add a R1 1u purple '~'
  • Considering the identification, whether the novel keys of R1 are needed. If the number of requests is large, it will be added again, and there will be a total of 12 patterns

About
Inspiration comes from Stephen Hawking's prediction.Salute the great man. :thumb:
The design continues to be updated.

Details
  • Doubleshot ABS
  • SA profile (1-1-2-3-4-3)
  • Designed by York Chan

Q/A
Q:Why not SP SA ?
A:I can lower the time cost(communication, transportation,etc...) and the final price with Maxkey. And I also believe that Maxkey can do a great job. If the number of requests is large, I will choose SP to make this.

Q:Three layout for novel key?
A:You can either offer me a proposal or a recombination to choose one of them as the final general layout.

Insanely long lead-times and cost?

At this point I'm feeling like this doesn't even warrant the question anymore; it gets asked in nearly every MaxKey IC and the answer is always the same.

Set looks real nice, York Chan.

Calm Depths took 7 months or so to enter production, longer than SP's current lead time.

Don't think Calm Depth's waiting time is comparable. It had disqualified color samples at first time. We should compare the waiting time of Maxkey to Berserk or Flamingo.

Historically, a GB of longer than 5 months is not common for Maxkey, but it's common for SP.

Love the colorway & font!
Thanks for taking the time to design this.

*Pls consider option with control/ctrl to use instead of normal-or-stepped shiftlock!*

In which case, maybe a Super, Meta or Hyper key to use instead of existing bottom-row Control -- though considering further, I'd probably just go with a novelty mod in place of the usual left-ctrl position anyway...

Also an option with purple  `~  and  \|  would be nice-to-have.

-----
Some may like option for purple F5-F8 _(or blue F1-F4 & F9-F12)_
Probably too much to split the 3 F-groups into separate colour options for F1-F4 / F5-F8 / F9-F12, I guess?

Having said that, I'm not a big fan of the F-row anyway :-)
I go months without touching an F-key. Though to digress, I'd love a design with the old Sun type-3 keyboard's L1-L10  ;-)
(2 columns on the left-hand-edge)

Hey man this looks great. It’s awesome to see such a nice colourway on maxkeys!

Could I suggest a couple thing couple things to make it more friendly to 65% users and dz60? As it currently stands I can’t see how to have split left shift and right arrow cluster even if you buy the base and then the mods extension: I might have missed it but i  see one r4 1u in the set and no r4 1.25u. Is there any chance maybe of making some of the r3 1u novelties into r4? Perhaps some blank r4 1u and 1.25u keys?

Congrats on a great looking set, hope it goes big!

AFAIK Maxkey does not have the legends for a few of those keys, but IMO they should probably invest in better compatabilty

really like this set. suggestion: making enough novelty r1 keys to stripe the number row in purple. right now the novelty kits only have a r1 set for yellow keys (which are nice too) but it'd be cool to have enough in both yellow and purple to stripe that row.

with r1 novelties you can use them for the f row or the num row. with r3 novelties you can use them for the homing row and the bottom row but especially the bottom row since most of the r3 novelties are 1.25u. i prefer the former but maybe others have a different opinion.

I'm sorry this feels way to similar to GMK Iris, with different novelties and an every-so-slightly lighter tone. I do love my Iris, maybe a courtesy contact with Iris' designer for a similar colorway but different novelties and profile?

I disagree. You are underestimating how much difference in tone and saturation can make. The intensity of the colors in Iris gives it an overall aestethic that is vastly different than 2600.

To me, they look nothing alike. When I first saw it I thought of Godspeed night wih accents. Which is in the pastel realm of colorways. Iris gives me complete opposite vibes.

If so. How about Carbon and 1965?Not to mention the height difference between Iris and 2600.And I didn't draw on Iris from my ideas.

I'm sorry this feels way to similar to GMK Iris, with different novelties and an every-so-slightly lighter tone. I do love my Iris, maybe a courtesy contact with Iris' designer for a similar colorway but different novelties and profile?

(Attachment Link)

Obviously,it's a different color set.

I didn't understand the question, can you reformulate it?
If the price of the keyset get too high because of the r1 novelties, I guess I can live without them and get a little more affordable price for the set.

I mean, it's easy to get the wrong input if you use the Numbers R1.

Even if I don't go with the base set, I'm in for 1 to 5 (depending on price) sets of those novelties.
Any chance you can split the novelties from the spacebars?

Have I mentioned that I LOVE those novelties?

Is it possible to have something like the spacebars/keys set a lot of SP sets have?

Example from SA Green Screen.

I love split space bar layout which makes use of the 2.25 and 2.75 blanks. Would love to see something like this for Maxkey sets.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it cheaper to get say a big kit rather than having two small kits with the same amount of keys? I'd imagine the majority of people would end up getting both anyways?

You are not wrong. But I would only do it if you assume that the majority will want to buy both kits. If not, then you are putting too much extra cost on one party which might make it unappealing to them. For example in SA Green Screen I decided to merge Specialties into the base modifiers, but that turned off a lot of 'normies' that only want basic 60%/TKL coverage and now had to pay 109$/99$ instead of the usual 69$ or so. So in the end the modifiers didn't hit better MOQ's so the 'savings' from merging the kit didn't actually come to fruition.

In comparison to the overall MOQs of other kits, I think the MOQs of the combined modifiers + adaptabilities were still inline. Plus for modifiers, different layout would require different kit so I could imagine merging them might not be a brilliant idea (although now when I look back I actually appreciate the consolidation since they still offer some savings although not much.) But for novelties, I'd imagine the majority of people might end up getting both (as you can see with those rama XO caps in some of the recent GB, the sale number of both kits usually end up being the same.) I might be very wrong though, but thats just a suggestion. Regardless which option York Chan end up with, I am still happy to suppport and get either both small kits or one big kit. Feels like we need more SA in the mid of so many GMK GBs.

Edit: Dang also didn't notice this would get manufactured by Maxkey. Both of the sets that I was so hyped up for (Royalty and 2600) got swapped out to Maxkey in the last minute. Not sure how I should feel about this. Would love to see these manufactured by SP but I guess its too late and  decision was already made?

First of all, thank you very much for supportting my design.
If 2600 is manufactured by Maxkey, the total price of two separated novel kits will not much higher than one combined kit. Since the cost of a single novel kit is about $20, combining two novel kits will not bring much benefits. But I think the design of seperated kits could offer more choices.
The 2600 R1 GB is just a beginning. I will continue to update this idea and the design. We will see what happens.

Good luck with the R1. With Maxkey I'm out, just does not look as good IMHO.
Looking forward to R2 from SP. ;)

Yea probably out this round as well if the final manufacturer is Maxkey. Best of luck with the GB though!

Quality might be high but the surface finish of SP is still better. Maxkey's matte finish is just meh.

I really wish more kits did R2 novelties. It would be great for ortho boards instead of the 40% kit (and way more interesting than a bunch of blanks).

Has MaxKey considered doing Colevrak?

Seeing a lot of people who's going to back off from this set because it will be made by Maxkey.
I just want to say that this lovely color scheme has definitely lured me which makes me wanna buy a profile that I don't really in to it and being willing to purchase the product from a less promised manufacturer.
A absolute purchase for me, definitely.  ;)

Huh. SP has more of a smooth finish than Maxkey (therefore glossy sooner). At least all sets that I have.

Maxkey looks more dull in my experience due to the finish being more  matte. Maybe it's the ABS mixture they're using. Not sure. All I perceive is that Maxkey feels and looks less nice.

Agreed on this, was going to say the same thing. maxkey is matte and dry compared to SP, which is my primary reason for preferring SP

The SP suite I have is basically long and short keys do not have the same roughness. But Maxkey can at least achieve a uniform matte surface. And Maxkey is willing to add more Kit, so this is a new attempt. Thanks u~ :thumb:

I have the maxkey WoB set and I really like it, a full size SA set almost the same quality as SP for 99$. This is good news for anyone hoping the set will be more affordable, with more compatibility.

Has the novelty kit ever included more than one R1 keycap (full number row replacement)? I did not save the old kit mockups and I can't remember now.

There's a row of novel keys, but I haven't posted them yet.Because it is Maxkey this time, some cuts will be made, and the price will be very affordable.

You know, I also wanted this from SP - but I know with Maxkey comes a shorter turnaround time, and also a better price. $80 for full base + ergo? That's great. The color scheme is beautiful. Can't wait to pick this one up.

Has Maxkey recently updated their compatibility? Now I am seeing Ergo, ISO and spacekeys supports with very attractive prices . That is indeed a very good move. Do Maxkey sets still suffer the issue of the bold "1 !" cap?
