[GB] Time TKL - GB closed

Dear buyers in Time TKL group buy,

Some one have already received messages from DHL and should will receive the keyboard in this week.

At this moment I'd like to say thank you all for your support in this group buy.

Time TKL is the second keyboard we developed. It's a little crazy, yet special.
It's so special that not everyone like, but I'm glad I made it happen because you like it and joined the group buy.

Many buyers in Orange TKL group buy also joined this one. I'm so glad that I gain your trust.

Special thanks to zFrontier. They were very professional and patient through all the phases in this group buy and make sure everything goes well.

There are also three unexpected issues in the gb/keyboard.

  • The secret gift for founder editions we intended to give were custom-made desk mats. We changed our mind at last because of lack of time. The final secret gifts are not so special but are pricier than the original one.
  • The brass weights were planned to be electroplated. However, the factory found that the small brass parts will be burnt to black with normal electroplating. We decided to only polish the brass surface lightly and keep the raw brass parts as is. You can compare the electroplated brass and raw brass small parts. If your brass parts are oxidized in the future, the recommended treatment for them are applying a mixture of lemon juice + baking soda. You can also contact me if you’re not satisfied with the brass parts.
  • The design of top case is a little lack of consideration that the assembled plate is pretty difficult to be screwed in the top case. You'll need to find the correct angle to put together the plate and top case, which is tricky. A easy way to solve this problem is to solder switches while the plate is attached to the top case.

At last, we'll be responsible for all possible problems. Feel free to ask me if you get any problems. My email address is runninghack[at]gmail[dot]com. Joining our discord channel is also an easy way to find me.

Is this BootMapper like Orange was?

The PCBs use atmega32a as the controller which means they can be programmed using bootmapper client. They were supplied by another team who makes PCBs.

BTW, I'm working on a 32u4 or 32u2 version as well. I can make the schematics and TMK/QMK firmware but I'm not good at making the PCB file. This won't be an option in this GB but I'll work it out some day at least for myself.

Oh boy, really excited to get my hands on this!

Just a question: Looks like the PCB supports split right shift and split backspace, and it seems like the MX plate supports that configuration, but does the alps plate supports that configuration? I think I remember senter mentioned that the alps plate is not universal in the IC thread, just wondering if anything changed between then and now.

Upgrading to brass weight will cost around $92 or so. All the 11 pieces will be brass.

The PCB was designed by another team and this is the first time they make ALPS compatible PCBs. Honestly I'm not 100% sure what layouts it will support without problems. For now it's only safe to say it will support WKL 84 key layout. We'll figure it out the compatibility and make it fully tested of course.

Could be a translation issue as I've seen that before.

For the note, it should be "Founders Edition" :thumb:

I just have ordered Time TKL and have some questions about it.
1. what is the difference between 'extra time logo aluminum plate' and 'extra regular MX compatible plate'.
2. As I ordered mine through en.Zfroniter, how can I select the color and what key settings I want(I want 86 with 6.25 spacebar)
3. From the post, it is said that the GB starts at 8PM for EDT which is 9AM for KST(next day). But I have found that the thread was already opened at 8:57. I really wanted a Founders' edition as I could not afford to buy Orange TKL.

Thank you for your order!

1. 'time logo aluminum plate' is the 'Time' logo on the front.  'regular MX compatible plate' is the switch plate
2. There're options for colors. They didn't add the layout options but now they're adding the options now. Please contact the customer service of zFrontier to confirm your layout. Here's the email you can send emails to: support@zfrontier.com
3. The launch time should be correct. I guess you mixed up EST and EDT.

The first several orders didn't have layout options (84, 86, 87). The default setting is 87 WK layout. If you're the first people who placed orders and want to choose 84 or 86 layouts, please contact support@zfrontier.com

Actually I don't know how people call these three layouts. I check some posts and found they just call them 84, 86, and 87 layouts. That's how the options show on zfrontier currently. Tell me if it's not correct.

Which one do you support? I would prefer 86 with 6.25U

87 = no blockers
86 = chinese winkeyless with small blockers (6.25u)
84 = og winkeyless with big blockers (7u)

Also senter can we have the option of alps plate right off the main order?
