The more I look at this, the more I think it should be Icon + Text mods. The novelties are so large and take up so much surface area, that they look really unbalanced with the icon mods that have large areas of negative space. And I say this as a person that doesn’t really like text + icon.

Gotta say this set looks gorgeous. One small nitpick - why did you use a modern football helmet for the novelty?
Wouldn’t the old school 2-3 bar helmet be more appropriate aesthetically speaking?

Any chance we could keep the Irish enter?

We also really liked the Irish enter key. However it's the intellectual property of the University of Notre Dame. We hear colleges enforce pretty harshly so we did not want to take any chances and step on any toes.

Thank you for your feedback! After giving it thought, we decided to go through with this change and you can see the updated Base render in the thread. Once we have finalized our kits, we will have the board renders redone to display the changes.Gotta say this set looks gorgeous. Glad you like the kit! To stay consistent with the theme, we got a new design that better represents the helmet during Rudy's time. The updated Novelties kit render is in the thread above. Thanks for your feedback.
Welp, I'm out. Damn, was really looking forward to this.

I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, but I agree that moving away from the icon mods is a bad move. They look so clean with these colors, and the renders as they are look really nice.
I honestly agree with dixie in that the text + icon mods would look better with the novelties, but I'll offer my counter argument. How many people actually buy novelties? Of those, how many actually use them on their boards regularly? And I'm not trying to knock the theme at all, but IMHO, in this community, football probably won't be a huge selling point of this set. I love people having good themes, don't get me wrong. I just think the main selling point of this set would be those super clean colors, and I believe the icon mods match the overall look best. The set is just stunning in that embodiment. I guess to boil it down (I tend to ramble) I'm asking you to reconsider the change because I don't think changing the overall look of the set to better match the novelties is a good call. In my view, if you see an issue with the synergy between the novelties and the base set, the novelties should be adjusted to match the set, not the other way around.
Maybe at the least consider a separate icon mod kit or something based on interest? A poll maybe?
Have you considered offering icon + text mods as a separate kit?
Pretty well designed set, I like the color way including the color pick, and the novelty keys are well-designed.
Good job
Reminds me of the Nike Killshot 2. Very hyped for this, any chance on a 40’s kit?

Here are a few suggestions pertaining to the base kit from the Discord discussion we had the other day:Although, honestly, most of these are minor, and the base kit is almost perfect imo.
- ÷ and × instead of / and * on the numpad
- Super instead of Code for the OS keys
- Although I think Sys (1.25u) and System (1.5u) would be even cooler
- \| instead of #~ for the R3 ISO 1u key for even more neutral bare-bones ISO support (like Oblivion V2)

We have already decided to make the change to ÷ and × and Code to Super!
However, we think we will be kepping the #~ key rather than the pipe key. We think our base kit is almost done, and we appreciate your kind words and feedback!
We are going to make a bigger announcement regarding progress made on some of the collaborations as well as with updated kit renders.

Why? You don't offer the rest of ISO-UK. :O If you want barebones ISO, offer ISO-US - the only way to complete an ISO layout with only the minimum required keys for ISO. :)

Well yes, either or. :)
This might just be me, but most of the pics in the OP, as well as the signature banners, aren't loading since the update. This may or may not be due to them being Discord CDN links. Hosting the images on Imgur or a similar service should solve the issue.
That being said, opening the links directly worked, and I think the new base kit looks great. I'm also wondering about the 6u spacebar in the spacebar kit, though.
Is the 6u spacebar in the kit centred or off-centre?
I don't see how any of the deskmat designs have anything to do with Rudy apart from the shamrock.
Any way you could do a render on the navy No. 1 Rev. 1?

Urgh, sorry but are you really sticking with half icon half text mods?
It will look so clean with full icons... like what the other guy said.
I dunno man could be a dealbreaker for many.

We actually changed back to icon mods only two weeks ago. All changes are made and updated in the change log. As you can see in the finalized kit renders, icon only it is!

Yep that would be correct!
Am currently using a monochrome set with White Alphas and black Burgundy Icon mods and it is clean af.
Was kinda hoping this would turn out to be the blue/navy version of it; it'll add much more class.

Ah, full icon mods is not something we think we will be changing to the base kit. As of now, all kits are finalized as they are. Any updates made will be added to the change log and renders accordingly. Sorry about that!

Happy to see the decision to keep novelties separate from the base, going towards recent trends! :) The Novelties look great, so does the artisan!

Hey Everyone!
After gauging interest and gathering feedback from the community, we've decided to scrap the Novelties kit due to a lack of interest and demand. We've replaced it with our new Dark Horse Kit, a navy alphas kit. The lack of interest is completely understandable as the crossover between mechanical keyboards and American football isn't great. We hope that you all will enjoy the Dark Horse Kit. Please continue to give us your thoughts and feedback as we are constantly trying to improve GMK Rudy!Show Image(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/585881328742957120/610210915551543296/GMK_Rudy_Blue_Alphas.png)
I had pretty much zero interest in this set until you introduced the navy alphas kit. Now it’s a must buy for me.

These kit changes are awesome. I'm pretty new so I don't know what's the norm, but would it be possible to get an extra "tab" key for the dark horse kit. I'm not sure if you're supposed to, but that would enable us to have basically two sets if you get the dark horse kit, one full navy and another with the normal colourway, they'd have to be slightly different layouts like a 60% WKL navy and a 65% regular. The only key needed would be tab.
Really appreciate the dark horse kit addition. It makes a big deal forward and peaks my interest.Hey Everyone!

Given you're not shy about making significant changes to this kit (this new alphas kit looks awesome!), please also consider making minor changes as well, to correct extant errors.
And yes, I mean ISO support. As it stands now, the set neither fully supports US ISO or UK ISO, but is falling into the middle of the pond instead ("Atlantis ISO"). The fix is pretty simple: replace the R3 #~ key with an R3 \| key. With that, you'll have full support for US ISO without altering the total number of keycaps.
HTH!
The 45 key shown in the U80-A renders? What kit is that part of? Or is that a remnant of previous renders and that key is no more?Remnant of the dead novelties keycap set. More information on discord

Navy and white or navy and gold?
May you do a render of dark horse with the gold accents, that will determine if I go full dark horse.
That Rudy enter key is beyond amazing. Could you at least keep that in the base kit? We can do another poll again to see the interest? :thumb:

I don't care much for American football (heck, I don't even care for regular football), but I really liked the shamrock novelties. Would it at least be possible to keep some of those, e.g. in the base kit as alternatives for the Super keys?
What's the material for the gold rama cap? Looks like brass in the render? Either way, so excited for this set. It's going to go perfectly with the blue and gold Rama U80-A.

Where are these ISO users you speak of that gave you (presumably positive) feedback about keeping Atlantis ISO? Because that's nowhere to be seen in this IC thread... in KeebTalk, perhaps?
Do you plan on adding split space (just 2.75u and 2.25u) blue spacebars into the blue alphas? I like the look of all blue and the board I would use it on only supports split space. :(

We will not be adding split spacebars to the Dark Horse Kit because that'd make the kit far more expensive; expensive enough that we think it will deter people from buying it. We are hoping that the shift keys from the Base Kit will do! Sorry about that :(

Discord servers such as TopClack. GH threads are not the only source of feedback. In fact, most feedback is given through discord if anything. Hope you understand, and again, thank you for your thoughts.

I agree with depleted vespene, if you're changing up everything else, It would be cool to switch up ISO! Iso users will always be torn. Depending on who you ask you'll get a different answer, but whoever told you to offer one third of an ISO layout ONLY, is not someone I can agree with.
My suggestion would be to offer full ISO US, as seen in my basekits, as it's the best way to offer a complete ISO layout in 4 keys, not to mention it's the most visually pleasing combination (subjective). Please don't do double pipeslash, as someone else suggested.
Happy to see the uniform alphas, looks sick!

Very cool! Raw brass or PVD coated like their other brass products to resist tarnishing?
Was looking over the kits for min. ortho support and noticed that your spacebar kit needs a 1.25u key. That's quite common in split builds.
As for min. ortho support, you'd only need to add 4, 1u keys for basic support:
R1: Out
R2: Data or Read
R3: Shift, Enter
That's it. You can grab a 2u spacebar from the spacebar kit and all other r4 1u keys are in the base. The r1 and r2 molds exist thanks to Carbon and Pulse.
Please consider. Thanks!
Any updates or announcements?
Hey all, ogWalker hereWell that stinks.
So as many of you know I am the Walker that designed and GMK Rudy and have been working on it with Warren. We share the same thought process, and have been great partners thus far on this project. However, I have said some controversial things in the past and gained some dislikeness from some people around the community. I have been actively working on being a better person, however I don't want Rudy to be negatively affected by this, so I am stepping down from the project. I would like to take this time to reflect on myself and strive to be a better person moving forward, and with upcoming projects I am working on. I am very confident in Warren and Upas moving forward with this, and the direction this set is headed in. Lastly, just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the set thus far, it's greatly appreciated <3.

Would love to see some split bars, including 2u, in the dark horse alpha kit. Also, my other suggestion about adding 4, 1u ortho keys still stands.
Thanks for considering (again)! :thumb:
Only one picture on the OP is working for me. Are pictures working for everyone else?
how about a 1.25u R3 Function key in the base kit? Then it supports most 40% keyboards as well.+1 :thumb:
I have an ortholinear board, will this set fit? Love the colors.
I have an ortholinear board, will this set fit? Love the colors.
Physical support is there but the legends will not be correct. You'll have to use PgUp, PgDn, and a few other incorrect legends. Some of Cannon Keys other sets have included ortho support (correct legends), so I'm a bit disappointed this one hasn't.

Can I offer that maybe the rest of the group buy doesn't need to subsidize your specific layout preference?
I say this as both a 40s and ortho user myself.
There are dozens of potential configurations for the modifier keys in these non-standard layouts. In fact I rarely see people using those keys to mean with the legends say they mean. So what you are asking for is a very specific aesthetic preference to be met, which will appeal to only a subset of individuals within an already niche sub community.
I see this over and over in keyset interest checks and I'm sick of it. This kind of bellyaching (often from people who aren't likely to buy GMK anyway) leads to $55 40% kits that don't make MOQ. Meanwhile there are people out there who basically can't use GMK on their staggered 40% keyboards at all because they couldn't buy the kit containing the one or two keys they needed, because its size and price were bloated by a local minority asking for every possible legend/row/color combination.
There was a time not long ago that people except it when you use something non-standard you will have to make aesthetic sacrifices. Recall that even things like HHKB backspace/pipe/fn weren't always a given. But at least that's 3 unambiguous keys, not some arbitrarily large number.
In my opinion if you are going to add anything to the kit it's baseline 40% row support, which consists of 1-3 keys and makes previously impossible layouts possible. Grow it to 5 keys and you can support the Boardwalk layout (and related split ergos) as well. That's much more important IMO than ensuring pretty legends.
Hey all!
There are some small changes:
1. An extra tab key has been added to the base kit to help provide 2 Rudy sets for 2 different boards of specific layouts.
2. A 1.25u space key has been added to the Spacebars kit!
All final renders have been uploaded. This includes the updated renders for the Fjell, Satisfaction 75, and RAMA U-80 to convey the removal of the Novelties kit.
The final renders hae been submitted to GMK for final price quotations!
Thank you all so much!

Maybe it's just me - but all but one picture on OP is not working.
Hey all, the prices are here. I will be posting the US vendor prices in this comment. Please check the OP for the proxy prices!
Base Kit: $129.99
Dark Horse Alphas: $71.99
Spacebars: $21.99
Thank you for your patience! A lot has gone on behind the scenes to lower the prices of these kits to make GMK Rudy as affordable as possible.
anyone have thoughts on how this will color match with the SP-111 in blue that's running right now? There are no blue spacebars in the spacebar kit. so not possible to make a dark horse sp111.

Wanted a blue sp111 until I saw rudy won't come with blue split spacebars. probably getting it in white now.

I can't imagine it would add too much to the cost of the kit to add in split bars. Not doing so just hurts MOQ because less are inclined to buy now. Also, since he isn't taking profit on the Dark Horse alphas, it seems even more bizarre not to include the split bars.
Warren, what's your reasoning for not offering split bars with Dark Horse alphas? GMK Coral's kit had split bars, extra Tab mod, AND UK ISO support in it's Coral Relief kit for only 10 more dollars.

Although I think the kits are priced nicely for what we’re offering, they are still higher compared to some sets that we will be competing against in Dec. Dark Horse is already expensive as is, and more people would be less inclined to pay $81.99 as opposed to $71.99 for something they won’t use. Simply put, there’s not enough users for them to make it worth seem less appealing to the majority.
It sucks and I’m sorry about that.
