We're not at 100 yet, altho that seems to be right about where we will end in 3 days. As of now, there are no plans for a round 2, since we would like to work on new projects. If there is one, it'll be quite far off in the future for sure.

On that note, any idea about fitting keycaps? I tend to buy a bunch of GMK Terminal with Modifiers, but not sure how close the green will be.

Hey!

Sorry that I haven't given as many updates as I should have here, we have definitely been working hard on this behind the scenes and manufacturing is coming along well! CNC work has been done for more than half of the boards already, I will try to get some pics of that to show everyone here! We're well on schedule for sure, even ahead of things meaning people might be getting their boards early

I have recently been getting some boards with really bad annodizing defects or other weird QC issues, will you be having some extras made for replacement parts in case anything shows up in bad shape?

First of all, sorry again for the lacklustre updates here. I've been kinda busy with both keyboard projects and IRL stuff, and this GB wasn't on my mind enough.

As for the production status: things appeared to go smoothly at first but our CNC shop has ran into an issue with his machine needed for the bottom part. Right now we're not sure how grave of a delay this will cause, but it does seem to be considerable considering CNC production should have been finished by now if the shop kept it's timeline.

Deskcandy is planning on shipping boards gradually once the first bottoms are made. This means that people who ordered earlier could still be getting their boards before the promised Thanksgiving shipping date. Sadly this also means that we can't realistically promise to ship boards on time for all customers. Since boards sold through EU or Asia proxies will be shipped to them in one big batch, this will most likely also cause delay for people who ordered there.

I would genuinely like to apologise for this, as common as delays are in this hobby I hoped we could let this GB run smoothly. Sadly, there's not much we can do right now but wait for the CNC shop to fix his issues. We will update here once we know more.

I sent my engraving file in just after the GB and it took a few days for Desk Candy to get back to me about it. They said the CNC place would let them know if they had any troubles with it, but it's been radio silence from Desk Candy since then (fingers crossed that it worked out I guess?). Could also be that they are waiting to do engraving last, so since the shop is out of commission they haven't started engraving yet. I guess all we can do is wait it out since Desk Candy is fine with not sending updates for months at a time.

My blunder with this GB is that I didn't realize you needed to separately order the PCB, so I'll have to hope for extras.

Quick update on the status of the group buy--easier to email everyone instead of trying to duplicate updates on all the platforms (Reddit, Geekhack, Keebtalk, Instagram) and it's been difficult for me to answer individual requests and updates since we're really spending most of our time these days just pushing forward M0110 and fulfilling other group buy and in-stock orders.

TL;DR - we are about 3 months behind our original schedule because of machining delays but (fingers crossed!) have not run into any major manufacturing errors or issues that would pose a major risk quality wise to the end product.

The major setback in our timeline is that our machinist (the person who turns raw blocks of extruded aluminum into carved pieces which actually look like keyboards) ran roughly 3-4 months behind schedule. I was supposed to get all the parts in hand by end of August (which would theoretically have given us enough time to make significant progress on surface coating and engraving to start shipping by early November). However, it's nearing end of November now and I have in possession roughly 50% of the machined cases and the machinist told me last week all bottoms are done and he's still finishing up the tops. I am not going to pay the remainder of the machining and material fee until 100% of the parts are delivered.

But the good news is that we *do* have roughly half of the machined cases now, so we are planning to start serial number and custom engraving this week. In addition--we are working on doing another test run to make sure the Cerakote quality comes out better than the prototype that Top Clack reviewed--that one will get Cerakote this week or next and I will ship it out to Jan to have another look and help us QC the surface finish to make sure we are on track. Despite delays, the one thing we don't want to compromise on is quality I spent several hours with our vendor who is taking care of both Cerakote and engraving this weekend and am looking forward to seeing how everything comes out.

Unfortunately because of how the anodizing process works (it has to be done in one big batch instead of painting individual keyboards), anodized boards will not get surface coatings until I receive 100% of the machined boards, so Cerakote customers may receive their boards before anodized ones.

Sorry for the delays and poor communication from Desk Candy. I want to do better, so please give me feedback if this format is helpful and if you have any questions or concerns. Please be patient with the process as there are a lot of variables (and we cannot control all of them) with the manufacturing process for this scale and level of quality, and thank you very much again for being a part of this group buy.

You can do both. I opted for tray mount because I wanted to use my existing plates and PCBs. If you got the top mount plate, lucky you. I need now to find a way to fix the stand-offs to the case. Probably drill the crappy stand-offs out and try better ones.

I think he got confused with the MD run RedScarf M0110x. AFAIK, this gb is not yet complete. Last update I think was in October, saying there was an issue with CNCing the bottom.
I had no idea these shipped already. Did you perhaps get the one from Massdrop that looks similar?

I had a brief exchange with Janglad on Dec 27th on Discord. He informed me then that he hasn't heard from Deskcandy about it in awhile, though last he heard was that the boards were sent to the "Cerakote guy but he didn't end up finishing them because he took some time of work...."
He's understandably frustrated at the delays in production that are beyond his reach.

Hopefully things will get back on track here soon.
