I say we add plates to this buy as well as SET cut off dates as to not let this go on longer than necessary, but I'm not participating, so good luck to you all!

Aside from the WASD V2, this is the only thing that'd make me buy more Cherry switches. Consider me in (for AT LEAST one, probably two).

Because this is one of the more interesting TKL keyboards. It'll be superior to the Korean customs if we can get an aluminum metal case with it.

Btw I got a few PMs for questions of total costs and help with assembly. I'll just post it here too so know you what parts to source and cost expectations:

  • 1 PCB $35
  • 1 case $??
  • 1 plate $18
  • 1 teensy controller $20
  • 87 diodes $2
  • 87 switches ~$60
  • 10 stabilizers (plate mounted cherry or costar) ~$10
  • 1 USB cable $??
  • keycaps $??
That's roughly $150 before shipping and other fees. Of course the number of switches and diodes will vary depending on the layout you choose, but not by much. The only layout that adds significant amount of switches is the 7bit layout, which is a little over 100 switches.

edit: I just realized tjcaustin also posted a list of things needed. It's correct for the most part but $300 is grossly overestimated unless that includes buying a brand new $150 filco just for the case.

Thank you, WFD. Can I PM you for some questions after getting the PCB? I really want to learn how to assemble it myself, otherwise can you set it up?

You can PM me questions but just post it in the main thread so everyone else can benefit from question/answer too. I urge people to assemble or mod their own keyboards, that's why I made THIS video. I also have a video of a phantom assembly process from start to finish but been too lazy to edit and upload the video. I'll upload that specific video when we get closer to the GB.

In for 1 PCB at least
few questions though:
- to WFD: your plate will fit the PCB rigth?
- not sure about that but will the pcb fit in the vortex tkl alu case?

Treble cases look superior to everything I've seen so far, It would be great to work something out with him (like a killer alu case signed with a phantom logo a la LZ cases)

No it wont fit in a Vortax Alu Filco case as the plates edges need to be bent.

Vortex has one for cheaper, but you'll just have to use the stock filco plate with it. Also the quality is not so great.

Yeah it was made to fit phantom PCB also. In one of the pics in my GB, the plate was mounted on a phantom PCB and installed in a filco case, everything lines up well:

The PCB might work inside the vortex aluminum case, but I wouldn't count on it because it needs to be paired with a stock Filco or CM quickfire plate. Any plates that are just flat without the top and bottom bends will not work.

Or planning to spend that much on a one off aluminum case/risking a vortex aluminum one.  Besides, I would rather plan to have more money than needed than not enough.

I heard about this "Phantom" keyboard and very interested in it. But the cost in switches alone is almost the cost of a complete keyboard (like the CoolerMaster Quickfire TKL). I need to start budgeting for this, so is there a ETA for when these will get released?
