Here we go again. GMK Eclipse is now available on Massdrop.

As the name of this set tells the theme of this keyset is Eclipse. Eclipse is an well known astronomical event (no its not IDE based), thus the keyset has dark appearance. The lighter modifiers do symbolize the typical light on the edge of an astronomical body which takes part in the eclipse event.

The previous Accent & Novelty kit was quite expensive and i decided to split this kit in its parts and make it more affordable that way.
Overall this is my attempt to provide more affordable set and if it fruits i will continue similar pattern in my future projects

The dark grey is GMK N9 stock color, right? Are the other colors stock or custom?

If you look at the ICs you can find an answer to this. The light blue seems to be the same as Yuri, the dark blue is custom, the purple is DY, not sure about the orange but probably custom.

If you look at the ICs you can find an answer to this. The light blue seems to be the same as Yuri, the dark blue is custom, the purple is DY, not sure about the orange but probably custom.

Indeed the light blue is from Yuri and the dark blue is new custom color. All other colors are stock GMK color palette.

I'm glad this set is getting a second chance. I drove to Oregon to watch the solar eclipse in August 2017. Totality is one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed. Anyway, I joined as soon as this went live.

As you can see the numbers are getting up slowly. I did not expected this set to go crazy and one also has to keep in mind all the GMK GB craze going lately. But that i expected is light blue accents doing better than other accents.

Exactly. Thus you can actually use it with other sets with N9 color (depending on if the light blue matches the other set).

I got simple rule for when to use icon or icon + word modifiers. Very distinct contrast colors are getting only icon mods. Less contrast colors are getting icon + word modifiers. You can see that rule of mine applied in GMK Carbon R2 drop. Very conrasty Bone has only icon  mods where less contrasty Carbon (orange on gray) has icon + word mods.

In case of Eclipse of course the mods need to be icon + word. For only Icon the mods need to have color Yuri light blue on N9. But thats GMK Skydata.

Yes i like this color but its not the reason why i choosed to include it in the 40s kit. I included this color into the 40s kit for variety, because i could not offer both colors for the splitbars in spacebars kit, which would make the spacebar kit huge and more expensive. This way you have already needed split spacebars in 40s kit. But if you (as 40% user) want also gray split spacebars then you can get the spacebar kit additionally.

Also the spacebar kit got the gray split spacebars, because that gray color (N9) is used also in other sets like Dolch or Skidata. Maybe owners of those sets might be interested to get some split spacebars for theirs sets.

There are more strategic thoughts than preferences.

Also, wouldn't put it past MD to help most of the kits reach MOQ. But yeah, pale blue accents are basically there, and base is looking good. Hopefully this keeps up!

Yeah the base kit and the pale blue accents will probably hit their MOQ. And yes MD does help keysets to happen but it does not happen for every kit.
