kbt pure spacebar stabilizer
« on: Wed, 06 March 2013, 21:33:21 »
So I'm thinking about picking up a kbt pure limited from mechanicalkeyboards. My question is, can I replace the cherry stabilizer on the spacebar with the ones available at wasd keyboard?

This is what I'm looking at ( last 3 items )

Darn! Alright thanks for letting me know. I haven't had the "best" experience with cherry stabilizers (loose / rattle on spacebar) so I've been trying to stay away.

I couldn't even help myself, kept looking at it despite knowing I might not like the cherry stabilizer on the spacebar ... long story short - I ordered one. This place is terrible I just got an hhkb not long ago and I love it but I just can't stop buying things!

You need a plate that supports costar stabilizers. This also means that you'll have to desolder all your switches to install the plate, then solder everything back. I'll let you be the judge if it's worth the time to do the mod.

We shall see. I'm still pretty new to this game so my opinion on cherry stabilizers may change once I try out a few more boards. If not the mod doesn't sound all that bad and is a route I would probably take. Would definitely need to locate a plate though.

Rattle/loose is probably closer to what you'll see with Costar vs. Cherry IMO...Some people prefer Costar because it doesn't change the feel of the key..on the downside I think they clank a bit more than Cherry..
