OK, I wanted to wait for a good amount of feedback on this. I conclude that I proceed as planned - sorting, packing, shipping!

TBO, anything else would be nuts. I'm at a point where I can hardly justify to put more time and effort into this. Getting into a dispute about the bead blasting with the manufacturer might very well result in some kind of legal battle. So I'm really relieved all of you see it that way.

This weekend and next week I can't dedicate much time, but after that I'll be able to ramp up the effort again

Like mentioned before, I can't spend much time on it now. Going through all the cases for quality control took super long already. next week sorting and packaging will start. It's A LOT! I hope I will be able to send out the first batches still this month.

quite a few have contacted me because they moved and have a new address. I don't respond to all of these messages, but of course I'm aware. Before I'll put the shipping lables onto the packages, every single participant will get an email containing your order and address - that will be the last chance to make changes to the address.

These are the last missing pieces before I can finally start packing boxes. I ordered from China via Alibaba because I wasn't able to source the standoffs for a reasonable price here in Germany.
They were supposed to arrive on Tuesday / yesterday by TNT, but now they are stuck at customs. I really hope this won't take long! It feels like there is some kind of force that wants me to be cought up in this GB for ever 

All other parts like spacers, M3x8mm screws, M3x12mm screws, mothers, rubberfees are all here and ready. These were sourcable from Germany easily.

I'll be more than happy after all cases are shipped and everyone is happy. Another SKB round or version is very unlikely.

Why:
The reason this GB took - wait "takes" is still more appropriate - so long is mainly because bending aluminium is hard to control. With every new sample I got some flaws were eliminated, but other problems appearer that weren't there before. In the process I had to change the manufacturer TWICE until I found the company that was able to deliver the whole thing. I don't want to go through this process again. Now that the knowledge is acquired one would assume that a new production would go smooth. I'm afraid that with every changed parameter, like bigger overall case size, some new problem will emerge and the nightmare starts again.

So let's just hope that those damn standoffs will pass through customs quickly so that I can start packing and that all cases arrive.

First the standoffs need to arrive, here you can see the current status:


Then I will pack all the accessories into little plastic bags, this is planned:

Pack A (for the case):
- 4x M3x8 [OK]
- 4x 1mm Spacers [OK]
- 4x Muttern [OK]
- 6x Rubber feet [OK]

Pack B (for installing the plate):
- 8x M3x12 [OK]
- 8x 6mm Standoffs [incoming-china]
- 8x 0,5mm Spacers [OK]
- 8x Muttern [OK]

Pack C  (also plate but deeper in the case):
- 8x M3x14 [incoming-china]
- 8x 7mm Standoffs [incoming-china]

Then I can start packing the cases with the accesories into the boxes.
The boxes will only get a number at that point.
When I have all packed, or I run out of space, I will send out emails to those who are part of the batch that is supposed to be sent out. Once I have a confirmation that the address is correct, I'll buy the shipping online, print out the lables and put them onto the boxes. At that point a batch is ready and I'll bring it to the nearest post office. I'll repeat that process untill everything is shipped. That's the plan.

Let's hope the standoffs will be here soon, so I can start the process. I don't really know how long the whole packing and sending out process will take, two weeks minimum I guess.

But seriously, I've been vocal about how enormously complex of a GB this is for someone to run for their very first GB ever, let alone at the quantities and configuration combinations that have to be managed. Much props to Plastikschnittstelle for the transparency and communication this entire time. I personally am (still sadly) part of a GB where the runner has gone completely MIA apparently due to IRL stress and responsibilities, and has communicated none of this directly even on their own discord server, and it is a GB with maybe 10% the quantities and complexity.

In this picture you see stuff that still needs to be done on the left. On the right you see three boxes that are filled with bags, those are already filled. I'm about 25% do with the accessories:


After all the accessories are done, I can start wrapping cases and putting them into boxes together with the accessories. When that is done I'll send out the emails in order to confirm the addresses.

Please understand that I can't do this packing full time.

Little side note:
I ordered M3 standoffs with SW-5.5 but what I got is SW5. That's luckily not a problem for the build, SW-5.5 is just thicker that 5, but anyway this is a pretty ****ty thing.
Also pretty ****ty is that in the pack of 7mm standoffs in between I find some that are 6mm. So when packing the little bags I have to be extra careful to spot the ones with the wrong length.

SW stands for "SchlüsselWeite". This is the kind of tool that will come in very handy when assembling the SKB.

SW stands for "SchlüsselWeite". This is the kind of tool that will come in very handy when assembling the SKB.

Take all the time you need, I know how the small tedious stuff can eat away all motivation and interest. Take breaks, and let us know if you need a while to gather finger strength. A few more days is not too bad of a wait for me at least.

He's explained it pretty clearly a couple of times, but it's not actually him "taking new orders" as much as it is that he is taking requests to fulfill with extras *after* all previous orders are put together and fulfilled. Nothing difficult about it, just that he won't charge/confirm the "late" orders unless he knows he can fill them.

I'll explaine it to you. I have gotten quite a few more cases than all of you have ordered (like mentioned a few times already). The reason for that is that I wanted to have some backup cases if some get lost on the way and that I can simply sell a few more. Selling the rest does not require me to do any sort of labor. all that happenes is someone fills out the order form and gets an invoice in return. of course this will be fullfilled after all others that have ordered before. I hope this explains why it is still possible to order.
