Okay, now where did you get that bottom case/wrist rest? I need one!
Made it.  I think that can happen  :thumb:

My Dad's garage is a full woodshop (except for lathe).  I will be heading back out there in a couple weeks and will put one together for you.

Oh, that would be awesome of you. Thanks!

Nice GON, is it also bluetooth?

It's a pretty killer board. I would've bought one if it had a 10u home row.

You know you've been on GH too long when you fully understand all that and can imagine what the keyboard feels like and sounds to use.

Very nice indeed :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I think the difference is intent. If your intent is to have something versus to sell it in direct competition with the genuine article.

JD40 by CarpeKeyboards. Wooden spacer by HPE1000. Hack'd by Geeks sculpted SA keycaps by [CTRL]ALT. Switches are Krytox-lubed vintage blacks, with gold 65g springs by sprit, and pink switch stickers by TechKeys.

JD, would you be mad if...someone...stole this idea and built my--I mean their--JD40 with a similar wooden spacer?

Not at all. I think it's a nice touch, and I would encourage it!

It would be awesome if someone started selling wood or plastic spacers!  :D

I realized that I'd never posted my JD40.  I have custom keycaps printed by WASD Keyboards, a locking switch for the "Function Lock" key, and a microUSB OTG cable so I can use it with phones and tablets.

JD40 built and customized by samwisekoi 2014.

Connected to my new Moto E LTS phone.

Pics or it never happened.

I moved the arrows from WASD to FCVB because otherwise the W key would have way too many modes.

I like keyboards and case modding.  Everything about a computer should be silent -- except the KEYBOARD!

Very nice! I'm really digging the layout  :)
Too bad that the only way to do it at a reasonable price is with WASD caps  :(

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

:))

I actually measured them and the footprint of the numpad is ever so slightly larger.
