If you back your camera up you should be able to get a better photo, the cap is probably going closer than the minimum focus distance of the lens.

Some sunlight could help too.

Managed to take some way better photos using the advice, made a mini album here
It's still not the best but I'm trying to get the hang of this photography thing.
