Is it an option to get these films CONUS or only really worth the shipping hassle with a TX order?

im interested in the films too and an extra plate + pcb so might be worth for me at least.

I would also like the films and a brass plate when kin gets more in (if he gets more in) for my tx-75

So I built the Txpad today.

157811-0

Was planning on doing the 84 as well, but then hit a snag. I'm installing Holtite sockets in these, did the pad first, and then ran out on the 84. This was entirely predictable by any not entirely stupid turnip that had been paying attention, owing to the fact that I only bought 250. Somehow, I failed to think about that. So, need to order more.

157813-1

Figured this is the board set on which to use the Zeal screw-in stabs.

157815-2

157817-3

I adore this thing, and can't wait to get the main board built.

I like that green so much.  I like the black one I picked but if he makes more green boards one day I want one.

Almost everything (except the key to push to get into flash mode, and some minor stuff) is explained here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v24vygvyl4mvqrm/AABUNcm0BDioYE5QbArje0Kba?dl=0&preview=Leeku+L3+Software.pdf

To flash the new firmware you download the latest one, extract it, connect the keyboard while pressing Esc and then run the .bat file. Also try a different USB port and USB cable, I've had wonky stuff happen with half broken cables once.
Still didn't work unfortunately, I've tried multiple usb cables/ports, and a couple of different PCs. Tried holding Esc or U when plugging it in but it still comes up as a unrecognizable device. The only thing it does is have the RGB lighting cycle clockwise and the switch leds turn on after half a minute from plugging it in.

Will try other PCs and ports to test it out some more.

I used these: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/8134-HC-8P3/A114359-ND/1151726 .

They're tiny. I used tweezers to place them in the holes, and pressed them in with a soldiering iron. The heat didn't seem helpful until I tried with it cold, but it does.

You can see them sticking out of the back of the board in the second picture. You'll note I'm using a PCB vice. When I was putting them on the Tx84 board, the ones in the middle of the board tended to snap in with a slight click I could feel. I got the feeling this is what is supposed to happen - I think it was because in the middle, the board could flex. I'm not sure if using the correct tool would get that 'snap' everywhere.

I also placed the switches twice because of stupidity. When pulling them out, a couple switches pulled sockets out. I just reseated those, but it is probably a sign that I wasn't using enough pressure the first time around. In the future, I intend to make sure I pull switches over a clean, bright surface. They're very easy to lose.

Finally, specific to these PCBs - there are several bottom-row holes in which these won't fit, as well as a couple that overlap other holes enough as to make them unsocketable.

Mine did that when I first plugged it in but when I connected it in jigon and updated the settings it was fine.

Still no luck. Now I wonder if I actually messed up any of the soldering job when I did the switches, cause I've tried connecting it to multiple PCs, USB ports and cables with the end result being same "USB Device Not Recognized."

It's just the stainless steel plate. I really like solid plates. But Kin25 convinced me that brass plate is better so when I have the choice I prefer brass over steel!

Iirc I think they were only originally supposed to help with housing wobble which is a cherry mx problem, not stem wobble which is the gateron problem. But also if you open up your switch housing a couple times it can warp causing housing wobble which the stickers can help.

Ah, now I know what those are (I think). I wonder how they feel/improve Zealios.

Imo they don't, I'd advise you to not use them with any tactile or clicky switch.
They move up the top housing a bit, which causes the stem to also sit a little higher. This moves the tactile bump further down the keystroke which imo is not a good thing.
Also, Gateron tops have a really tight fit, which makes it harder to correctly assemble the switch with switch films.
