I like it -- and personally prefer the icon mods for this one but maybe having it as an add-on kit would work too. Maybe an add-on alpha kit with Hyrulian sublegends might be neat.

You'll want to get some better renders, keycaprenders.com struggles with those kinds of "mid brightness" colors. At least double-check your work with https://kle-render.com since the colors could be wildly different.
+1. That green does not look like it will translate to realistic lighting well from the current renders.

Hard agree. This is a solid first draft but I really think the colors need to hit that classic zelda color pallet. The green and dark grey just aren't syncing with LoZ for me.

This is all helpful! Like I said, this is still in the early stages so I do appreciate the feedback. Once I receive the high quality renders, it will be easier to address color issues. I also have RAL samples coming which should allow for a more accurate representation. Thanks again for the feedback!

Exactly everything I had in mind! OoT is my favorite game of all time, but man, I just can't get myself to like green sets =/
I'd love to help with color suggestions, but I'm pretty badly colorblind loll. If I'm not right up against my monitor I cant even see the legends :(
The Hylian idea would be so sick though. And there are so many amazing novelty ideas I bet a whole board could be filled with designs haha

Yeah, unfortunately, those are protected. The stones could be worked around to some extent, but with so many, the cost would be too much I think. Wish I could have it all!
will probably get people raising their eyebrows at their computer screens with this but i never played ocarina of time. i am a much bigger fan of the snes and gameboy editions of zelda (they're probably my favorite games of all time) and i think this works for all fans of zelda games.

- It'd be cool if the holes on the Ocarina lined up with how they actually are in the game (see above). I understand you're going for more minimalist, but to me the Ocarina stands out as a bit over-minimalist compared to the rest of the novelties.
- A Skulltula novelty would be very OoT
- Master Sword enter novelty
- Hylian emblem (same as your profile pic) on 1.25u / 1.5u keys
- I'd rather see the bottle novelty as a clean empty bottle, or possibly with the Lon Lon label on it for extra OoT points:

Some of these things just can't be done in terms of the novelties. The exact duplication of some of these items would make the set violate TMs and it would never get made. Most of the items and logos and languages (Hylian) are property of Nintendo, so I just can't use them, as much as I'd like to. The enter key will not say "Listen! Listen!", it was just a way of showing two different options for the font (standard vs italicized). I can play around with blue a bit to see if I can find some way to incorporate it, but so far in trying various colorways, this N9 has just produced the best look for the set. I've tried browns and reds and blues with it already, but it took something away from the kit. That being said, I'm working with some other people who may have some better ideas, so I will continue to try things and gauge feedback! Thanks for the input :thumb:

Risk for getting a Cease and Desist should be determined by what others have been able to sell / get away with. When a company doesn't protect a copyright, it undermines their ability to protect it in the future. A quick visit to eBay shows are multiple whole businesses around selling LoZ merch. On the topic of the language, that's a good point with the elvish. I'll definitely look more into that, but i'm pretty sure it would be really expensive to have new molds made just for Hylian sublegends. The elvish set is dye-subbed. On the products; just because people do sell unlicensed replicas, it does not make it "legal". I would hate for a potentially good set to die over risking it. I will explore more options as I continue to work on the kit though, and see what else I can incorporate! Thanks again!

Maybe you should invert the colors? I don't know. I feel that kokiri colors are not the way to go for a keyboard, maybe hylian would be better, i.e blue or silver/grey alphas and red/gold accents

@mkljfox44 it's mostly an aesthetic thing for me -- regarding R5. It adds to the sculpted profile look of Cherry profile, that I think is unique, still comfortable to type on, and is also an homage to vintage Cherry keycaps' original profile. (people also call it Row A)

Rama colab with gold triforce might be nice. Not sure about the copyright implications thoI think the 3 stacked triangles is totally fine, yeah it's iconic but I don't think the symbol itself is Nintendo's, just the name.

We are doing our due diligence in making sure that this set crosses no IP boundaries. I have spoken to people personally, and have someone reaching out to their contacts at Nintendo to make sure that we are in the clear before moving forward. It should not be an issue. And you are correct, the word is copyrighted, but the symbol is not. Thanks for your support :thumb:

Please keep in mind that doing R5 will make it very hard to do a 40's/Ortho/Ergo kit - or if you do, it'll have to be almost twice as large as other sets that use R4 bottoms.

Hangul alphas' debut (which were just the letters and a pipe key, so quite minimalist) were with GMK Burgundy, a small ish buy that wasn't ran through big vendors, and the kit cost like $50. Truthfully, that's really not bad.

Well the good news is that RedSuns actually spent some time helping me find the right gold to use. We looked at several different versions before we decided that his was probably the best fit, so it is actually the same gold from Red Samurai. So a big shoutout to him for the help there. GMK Has already used the color in the past, so matching won't be an issue.

About the Black-gold colors - I guess I've seen the colors used on limited/collector's edition, concerts or those types of materials.
I would've thought Master Sword blue or leather brown would be more relevant colors for representing the "Hero" himself.

Ah I see, thanks. I actually joined the red samurai on drop, so I'll know soon. Since the gold is already the same on Sam & Hero, do you think the black mods on hero could possible be the same as well? That would allow mixing alphas & novelties nicely

I'm not sure if you have chosen a shade of green yet but I would suggest going for something darker than in those images, maybe something like the green in your triforce profile picture.
The colors are set at this point, yes. The renders make it hard to really grasp the color difference. A helpful picture was posted earlier in the thread showing the contrast in person. Hope this helps!

I second that. There have been lots of kits that have chosen the 'Olivia' color-scheme. Not that it's bad, but more of the same can become old. It's good to mix things up now and then, and I think these colors match the theme very well.

Maybe you should invert the colors? I don't know. I feel that kokiri colors are not the way to go for a keyboard, maybe hylian would be better, i.e blue or silver/grey alphas and red/gold accents

I was referencing the change in novelties in this thread. I personally preferred some of the older ones, but I understand you can't please everyone especially when you have to negotiate what you can or cannot use.
The RAMA cap is me purely speculating that Nintendo would also not reach an agreement that would allow the artisan to be produced, and isn't backed up by any information in this thread or elsewhere.

At least not in America.

I hate anything GMK but I am still waiting for this set to drop and am willing to buy in.
I would like to see more weapon and tool colorways on the novelties though. Such as blue, silver, red from the shield or the purple/blue from the master sword. Bomb keys, iron boots, and maybe even race colorways with pictures of their "homes" like lakes, mountains, and deserts so that you don't actively tread on the copyrights.
That would probably add a steep increase on price due to all the colors but figured I throw some ideas out as well.

I'm confused as to what the alpha change was and if its represented in any of these renders, pictures. I'd love more renders and color samples but in al honesty I'm in no matter what just based on the theme... might even buy a 2nd base set to give to a friend.

What color is the yellow for the keys and legends? It looks like a more faded yellow- I'm just trying to imagine if it would clash with yolk. Trying to decide between yolk, clear, or black for the board itself. Thanks!
IMO it would clash with yellow and black. It’s gonna be a hard one to find a good looking case for. PC is probably the way to go.

Yeah, I don't think it'll match well with Yolk, but it should look great on black or clear

I mean that’s your prerogative but I’ll choose to push my money towards a more well thought out and competitively priced keyset. If the pricing wasn’t so crazy I would have gone in on this. I’ll avoid the Kono headache at least.

The set is likely priced at 250 MOQ rather than 500, which most sets use nowadays. It's also an "all in one" style base kit, whereas many designers have moved towards splitting things off.+1
