CST L-Trac Q: Problems with putting comp to sleep?
« on: Fri, 06 May 2011, 12:10:01 »
PROBLEM SOLVED— The issue was having the CST and my Microsoft tball hooked up at once- for some reason, that combo will not let ol' Bessie sleep. With one unplugged (as it normally will be) all is well.

Hi all,

I have an L-Trac, and it will not let my Mac go to sleep. Well, rather, the Mac goes to sleep for a few seconds, then wakes. I called CST, and they recommended that I try switching the unit to 400 CPI before putting it to sleep, as the big ball and high CPI means that it's pretty much always putting out movement data at the 1600 setting. (BTW, the service was awesome, especially since my L-Trac was bought used)

I've tried this to no avail.

So, pointing device/CST gurus... Any ideas on how to get this unit not to wake my Macbook from sleep? I haven't had this issue with the other trackballs. I could mount a power switch on it, if all else fails, but I'd rather not, really.

Thanks,
CT

CRISIS AVERTED! It turned out my issue was due to having two different trackballs connected at once. I'd been suspecting the CST because it was the new variable, but it just turns out that CST + another trackball is too much for Macs to sleep through.
