Design & Inspiration
This idea originally began as a dark keyset, I was working with a lot of dark gray and red pantone colors, after rethinking what I was trying to achieve I decided to look at other keysets to get ideas, I decided to try to invert the colors similar to GMK Honeywell to test out that idea and really liked the look of it. I threw out the red because it just didn't fit in well with the set but kept the gray colors. Then I started messing with more with different shades of gray and came to love the final result of colors!

Also, will over looking the responses to the google form I noticed that someone picked up on one of the themes of the set. ;) Originally I was given the idea of The Ashen One, the main character from Dark Souls 3, I ended up scrapping the idea because I didn't want to deal with copyright issues, I also thought about calling it GMK Grayscale, but that's too similar of a name to ePBT Grayscale then thought about GMK Ashen, which happens to also be another set, Maxkey SA Ashen. So I settled for the original idea that was ashes from a volcano.
Going back on the Souls idea I could look into a Souls inspired novelty kit for the set if there is interest in that.
Thank you guys so much for the positive feedback, I really didn't know if this set was going to be a good idea, it looks like it's shaping up really well!

Still working on figuring that out. Kits are not finalized just yet, the renders are just renders so far. I just got a vendor and I still need to work on colors before we can start discussing prices from GMK. Once I finalize colors I will discuss that with him and figure out the pricing difference for the base kit. I would like to keep it in there if the price isn't too high, but we will see.

Hey! Thank you for the feedback! I heard you like to help out and give good feedback for other people's keysets! Thanks for looking at mine! Currently I have converted the colors to RAL, that was part of some changes that I planned for yesterday. I am currently working on figuring out all the kits and will take your feedback into consideration! You are not the first person that has told me about R4 End key, I understand the importance of it for some people! Again thanks for the feedback and hope you have a good rest of your day! :)

Apologies! Currently the render artist had been making the renders on a blueish background causing that blue tone. That's not what I had in mind for the colors. We are working on getting new renders right now and will update them with the correct ones. Again, this is my first IC so I wasn't sure if different lighting would be good for renders. One of many mistakes I've made it seems. Thank you for pointing it out and we will be working on this.

You're correct about this. Still somewhat new at this and getting everything set up still. We'll make sure to have better lighting for final renders once the kits are settled. Thanks for keen eye and help!

re: numpad being split out
I use a numpad (as a separate device) and buy coverage for it every set. Split it out or don't, either way is fine for me. What no one likes for GMK sets is the TKL coverage still costing USD 120+ and the numpad on top of that (GMK eclipse, fro yo, cafe as planned, can't remember firefly price), with it being marketed as "saving money" when custom color sets like GMK violet on cream are under 125$ for full coverage (sandstorm also was thanks to DUDUDUDU, voyage, 8008 was 130, there's others...) with the whole set in there, and two of those I know had MOQ at 250.
Jamon, striker, 9009, minimal all had no numpad but cheap base (99$ USD for all) with numpad kit at 40 or less. They also sold 500 base kits each.
VoC is another great example of pricing:the alternate alphas kit included the numpad numbers, and was still under 75$.

Design & Inspiration
This idea originally began as a dark keyset, I was working with a lot of dark gray and red pantone colors, after rethinking what I was trying to achieve I decided to look at other keysets to get ideas, I decided to try to invert the colors similar to GMK Honeywell to test out that idea and really liked the look of it. I threw out the red because it just didn't fit in well with the set but kept the gray colors. Then I started messing with more with different shades of gray and came to love the final result of colors!

I mentioned something similar earlier but got no response from OP. The ghost kit needs some work. In my opinion it needs the following...
- F1-4 and F9-12 (like you mentioned)
- both barred and scooped homing keys
- R4 1u |/ (for HHKB compat.)
- R4 1u ~’ (I know it’s in the base but it would be nice here too for mixing and matching sets)
Also, OP includes a second light grey B but not a second B in dark grey for Alice-like layouts.

If you do decide to add the second Tab, consider adding a second Home (by the Sea) key as well — as the kits stand now, a second Tab and a second Home are all that's needed to make a TKL and a 65% or a 60% (instead of just a 60%).

Nothing is final on the kits, colors are correct for the most part, although I do agree that the Ghost Kit render is a little bit too bright compared to the other renders. I'm not sure what you mean by the renders looking really small, they look fine to me, more renders are being made for the set too. The Ashes falling on the Kepler is something that OneFiveNine decided to put in the render for the Kepler, I liked it and decided to keep it.

The alphas are going to be in a similar color to cool grey 11c, I actually already have the pantone chip at home, and just got a RAL deck today, so expect color comparison picks in an upcoming update. As for international kit, I have not looked into one, unfortunately the likelihood of a international kit hitting MOQ is very unlikely so I will not be looking forward into it. Sorry, if intl kits were hitting MOQ on other sets then maybe I'd look into it, but I don't like the thought of individual kits failing. I am trying to include UK-ISO in the base kit to at least have compatibility over there and offer a correct ISO layout. Thanks for supporting the set! I'll be making more updates whenever I can. :)

Alphas MOQ is questionable. I would like to see some renders of the full GHOST kit on a popular TKL or 75% board with full F row keys in white.

I was looking through the renders and the base kit alphas seem to range between light grey and charcoal based on the different renders. Idk if that is lighting, background, etc - but maybe a few pictures on a white/neutral background to help show what the true color is. It's great regardless, but some clarity would be appreciated.

Like IOVERCALLHISTIOCYTES said, these options would not be viable, if I had to guess this would raise the price of the mods alone to somewhere close to $100, then $60 for each alpha kit, making a "base kit" cost around $160~ I am not looking to do that as the set would probably not sell as well. I plan on also keeping the numpad in the base kit, if I were to break the set into a ton of different kits, I'm not too sure if all of them would make it, that's too big of a gamble for me. As of right now I am only looking to have a few kits for sale for the set, I have a few more renders and physical samples of the RAL colors too that I am waiting on posting until I can get shots of them in better lighting. I am going to try hard to make sure that prices are reasonable for everyone. Thank you for your interest in this set!

- Add the missing R1 `¬ (not the same as `~) keycap to complete English (UK) over ISO support (right now, the base kit has the "eastwardest" version of Atlantis ISO yet, although still Atlantis ISO).
- Highly consider adding the missing R3 \| key to complete English (USA) over ISO and ANSISO support.
- I still don't get why the horizontal ("ANSI") Enter and the numpad Enter get to be light gray and dark, but the vertical ("ISO") Enter key has the options of light and middle gray instead.

- The option of adding a second R2 1.5U Tab keycap to secondary alphas kit has become pretty well accepted. Has this considered?

Looks like a 2u convex in the Extension kit, which I would want too! Can a 1.75 convex space be included as well?
The earlier preview (https://i.imgur.com/2gdzwse.png) had some dark spacebars, including what looked like a 1.75 convex key, but on further scrutiny, it looks like a dark 2u convex spacebar. In any case, the dark accents looked great.

Perfect. When you revise the base kit, do take into account that it's missing the alpha-colored R1 `¬ key (the mod-colored version of that key, and both versions of the R1 `~ key, are present).

Maybe add an additional escape key with red legend? Or an accent set? This way you could keep the minimalist aesthetic or go for something with a bit of color? Maybe you could add a kit like the ERR kit on GMK Dracula?

Alright, thanks for at least considering it. I'll keep watch for the upcoming update.
I use the Function key on my right Alt key to access the first layer for often used keys like the arrow keys from the home row but I guess that's only convenient for smaller %-layouts.

So right now I have been working on getting final renders, not too sure when those will be made, I'm hoping they will be done before the end of the month.

I also just wanted to reconfirm that the black accent Enter and Esc will be back in base kit! I have a plan for the kits and will show them off once I get the renders back for each kit. I know there was a lot of feedback for the Black Accent going away, and I agree it definitely should stay! Thank you everyone for supporting this set!
I have noticed a few people asking about NorDe kits and while it is possible to run that kit, the past few keysets to run the kit have not had any luck having the kit hit MOQ, at this moment in time we will not be running the kit. Sorry.

There's a lot that I would like to wait to announce when I have the renders on hand to show. Starston3's question just happened to be one of the changes that I had done, so I let y'all know about it right now. I'd be more than willing to announce the changes if enough people would like to see them. I'm not too sure when I'll be getting the renders completed, I asked the artist about them 3 weeks ago and have been trying not to bug him about them.

Pricing can't be decided until we have final renders that way GMK can know what's going in each kit. As for the second design. I'll be making an update on that

Kits for the most part have been finalized, small tweaks will happen once the renders come out depending on feedback from the community, numpad support is 100% staying in.

I'd wanted ghost numpad alphas too. The issue that i think will arise with this kit is the inclusion of what's usually a spacebar kit in there too. I love my split space keys and would have bought the theoretical spacebar kit anyways, but many wouldn't. If the current Ghost alphas kit is only 85$ i think it'll be an excellent value, but I think it may be a bit more than that already. With ghost numpad, I think you've basically guaranteed it's about the price of GMK Olivia R2 thanks to 100MOQ for an alt alphas set and 1000MOQ for Olivia.
There's no right answer to alt alpha kit design unless you know you have a monster set (at which point you should sell the inverted mod/alpha colorway as a different base set). As it stands, I think we may need to have a few alt alpha only and spacebar only people agreeing to split up kits to get MOQ, and i'd rather have it made than ask for one with numpad alphas, have it have high price, and not get it to MOQ.

Kits have been restructured. I've been working on them with OneFiftyNine for a while now and feel comfortable with the kits that will be coming out from the final renders. Hopefully you'll like them too! The one main concern that I am having is that the bonfire with the sword in it may not be up to GMK spec, the lines on the sword might be too thin, thankfully I do have a backup novelty to replace that one in case we aren't allowed to proceed with that novelty. While that might be the only related piece based on a video game, I will not be removing it from the deskpads, it would only be changed for the keyset itself.

keep it simple but not too plain?
i'm currently using glorious white mat and while i love the simplicity of it which is the reason i got it, it's also basically the same with the current alt design ;D

Thanks for the concern, that extra fn key is an alternative that Alice type boards can use if they only want to buy the base kit and were planning on using spacebars from a different kit since the accent color is GMK CR color. :) Technically they could just buy the base kit and be fine if they have the Space keys CR spacebars. Although I do recommend getting the Lahar kit to have a full complete set. ;)

Hey Tyson, wondering if Caldera kit should have a numpad accent enter? Looks good otherwise!
It wouldn't be a bad idea to add that in there, but I'm not too sure how many people would use it, I'm down to do it if more people ask about it. :)

Isn't the enter in the 40s kit only 1.5u? Looks like that to me.
Actually let me talk to 159 and see what the size of the enter key is, I thought the kit had the most requested 40s enter but now that I look at it, it does seem to be a 1.5u enter key. I can look into getting a 1.75u in there too. Just to make sure that most 40s work with the kit. :)

Thank you! I've been working today on contacting Artisan Makers to get some collaborations going for the keyset! I also sent another message to Rama about a potential Rama Cap for the set. We will see how that goes! Hopefully this is the one! It's a alternative Novelty that didn't make it into the set.

I am also excited to let you all know that there will be some artisan collaborations happening with this keyset! I have been in talks with a few artisan makers to design caps for this set! More information will be coming on in the next couple of weeks on those collaborations, along with the cable collaboration that we will be having for this set!

I cut a lot of things out of the base kit to try and reduce cost for the over all kit, I added UK ISO to the Caldera Kit to try and give iso, ext, and 40s a good chance to all make it, I apologize that it got moved, but I want to try to get all kits to make it at a reasonable price, and thought that this would strategically be the best way to get UK ISO and 40s made.

Actually just spoke to OneFiftyNine today about this, he mentioned that he is going to fix the renders for the Ashes kit (removing the alpha colored esc key) and the Basalt kit (adding the 1.25u enter and 1.75u enter that are missing from the kit right now), then send the renders off to GMK to get quotes, after that him and I will discuss pricing and post it as soon as possible to prepare people. :)

I know UK ISO was previously pushed to the 40's kit, but now essentially all the keys are in the base minus 2 which are in the 40's. Meaning you have to buy that kit for 2 keys which is a pain
Unfortunately it's too late to add the keys as the keyset goes live in 15 days. I would have loved this feedback earlier in the IC. I also tried slimming down the base kit to help cut costs while also trying to make kits that would help out everyone, normally it's really hard for 40s kits to hit MOQ, so to help that out I combined the 40s, UK-ISO keys and 2 extension keys for WKL layout boards, hoping that everyone would be willing to work together to help this kit hit MOQ.

0 chance, sorry, I am trying to keep the kits cost as low as possible, which is why I made the entire F-Row Ghost colored in the base kit so we wouldn't have to put any F-Row keys in the ghost kit. I am trying to slimline things down right now to lower the cost even more for the other kits too.

It also all depends on when GMK gets their 4th machine up and running, if it's before Ashes hits production (hypothetically speaking because idk if the set will hit MOQ) then the queue time will be faster than what it is right now, I think there was an update on GMK Night Runner saying that it got delayed to July Shipping, the set was supposed to ship this month but GMK is so backed up right now that they pushed it back 5 months. If the new machine isn't up and running by the time Ashes start we might be looking at a Q1 2021 release date, or a Dec 2020 release date. I really hope not but who knows.

Crazy the delay! I'm just wondering then why in the GMK Apollo Thread there was said September/October. Modern Dolch light is stated at late Q4 2020.

After working on pricing it was discovered that the initial cost for the set to work on a 40s board was going to be over $200. With that being said there would have been a very slim chance of the kit hitting MOQ. Pricing along with giveaways will be announced soon.

A bit disappointing - but guess there's no reason for me to get the ghost/spacebars kits now. Was hoping to get enough switches to fit any two of my boards (especially since ghost + 40s covered most of a 40%. TBH if there wasn't the slight dark souls theme I would've passed on the entire set for dropping 40s.

Sorry, it was a hard decision, that I was thinking about till I received the pricing for the set. I thought I was doing the right thing by putting the UK keys in the 40s kit to help the kit out, but once I received the pricing, it made it extremely difficult for the vendor and I to continue trying to push the kit, I am looking at potentially adding 40s to the base kit for my next GMK set, then moving UK ISO to the Numpad kit to alleviate the issues that I ran into with this set.

The only kit that included 1U Ctrl and Alt keys for the bottom row was the 40s kit, which is gone now. It doesn't look like there's any kit that includes support for the bottom row on layouts that use 1U Alt, Fn, Ctrl to the right of the spacebar (Vortex Race 3 75%, Tada68 65%, etc.). It looks like you dropped support for more than just 40% keyboards.

After discussion with a few people from the community and listening to the voices of the community, I have reconsidered the Basalt kit (40s/UK-ISO Kit) and will be re-adding it back to the set for sale next week! I'm working on getting pricing for the kit right now and will add it to the GH page as soon as possible.
