Woke up at 6:20AM, because that's when my son decided morning was today.
Snoozed on the sofa for an hour while he watched innane kids TV.
Made breakfast and then persevered with my fight against murderous thoughts for three hours till nap time.
Failed to get son to eat lunch.
Sent him to bed for nap.
An hour later, he wakes up.
We work in the garden for a few hours.
Almost fail to get him to eat dinner, but persevere with threats of only getting one Wheatabix in the morning, which convinces him to eat.
Put him to bed.
Spend an hour getting up every two minutes to get him his damn water which is on a shelf with a light next to it about 30cm from his head, so he could easily get it.
Come online and type this.

Struggled to peel myself from slumber.
Pretended to work for a couple of hours.
Spoke with me mum on the tele.
Jumped into Fortnite with my homies (the highlight of my days, now).
Applied clear coat to my custom mouse.
Drank some liquor.
Played Champions with different gaming homies.

There were meals interspersed into the above activities.

Removed the MMCX sockets (one was broken) on a pair of earphones, plugged the hole with a blend of superglue and rubbery glue.  Surprisingly they work and the glue seems to hold, not sure how long that will last though.

I also ask for vaccines with extra thimerasol too

I will try to do that everyday, as long as scottish weather let me ;)

At least this I can do to try and lose weight...

A 5km walk takes an average person ~1hour and burns ~190kcal. It's much more efficient to lose weight via diet.

I've heard that for many people with very high BMI, keto diet is especially successful.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Went to the gym. They reopened here a couple weeks back, and after months of non-exercise, I am starting from scratch again, it's going to be a slow build up to get back to where I was before.

Um... It's not that straightforward. You don't walk to burn calories during the walk. You do it to boost your base metabolic rate throughout the course of the day, which is what really burns more calories. And you do it all in conjunction with attention to diet.

If you simply restrict calorie intake without any other adjustments, your metabolism slows down as a survival adaptation, and the main effect is that you feel miserable without health improvements.

Can I ask where in Scotland? I have very fond memories of the Highlands- Fort William area, Cairngorms, and Skye. Also of Edinburgh, but those memories tend to be a lot... blurrier.

Citation needed.

The main effect for me has so far been going from 89 to 74 without much misery.

What I said about base metabolic rate effects has been accepted widely for well over a decade, it's been well covered in papers since prior 2010. Similarly, extreme dieting and slowed metabolic effects have been documented ad nauseum.

If someone is getting out and getting exercise in, I don't think it's helpful to try to discourage or deflect that in any way.

This is absolutely correct. Dieting in the traditional caloric restriction sense is not effective in the majority of cases.

Calories in/calories out is the only thing that really matters in weight loss. If you lose 200 calories by not drinking a Pepsi or by exercising, it doesn't matter. It does the same thing. 200 calories less will, over enough time, lower your weight. This is a dumb argument and I don't know why you guys are even having it considering it doesn't matter whatsoever.

It's not as simple as that.

For example, You can say cars just need gasoline.  But if you put low octane fuel in an engine designed for high-octane, it will not run smoothly and can knock.

For the longest time we've oversimplified our approach to healthy eating, and the result speaks for themselves.

I dunno. I believe every person has a base max weight, that even not exercising and eating like garbage you will always hover around that weight within less than 10lbs. I've found that max base increases by about 15-20lbs every 10 years. The same also goes for minimum base, at 25 if I wanted to get under 170 that was a hard wall that required an exponentially greater amount of exercise than staying at 170-180.

Sure you can eat/starve yourself to death, pushing that base beyond the normal amount. But that takes about as much work being unhealthy as it does getting to under your minimum base as well. People who are super fat worked hard to get that way, it doesn't just happen without conscious effort. Same for getting super fit, doesn't just happen.

NT, I'm not against creativity, but this invention of yours is probably not helpful.

You are telling me the 'hard wall' doesn't exist? That's just nonsense. You cannot just keep losing weight at the exact same rate once you drop below a certain weight, it doesn't work that way and it requires an increase in effort the further you push that line.

I dunno. I believe every person has a base max weight, that even not exercising and eating like garbage you will always hover around that weight within less than 10lbs. I've found that max base increases by about 15-20lbs every 10 years. You basically described what it's like for any professional bodybuilder before a competition.

see? it's real. And it's the same for fatness, there's a point where you are fat enough to be able to eat anything until you're full and not gain anymore weight.

Totally agree, I should never have brought this up in the first place, sigh. I've seen this argument rehashed many times in different places.

I wanted to try a new hairstyle and had my hair cut today. Many inches, by myself...
Now I'm kinda upset, this is not a joke...

I woke up at 06:40am and went for a walk, 5K.
I've done it for last 4 days and I like it.

Yep, tried keto, worked fine for a month or two, lost about 10-13kg - couldn't stand not eating bread and sweets. Stopped it, ate bread and sweets, gained weight, unhappy again :(

Can I ask where in Scotland? I have very fond memories of the Highlands- Fort William area, Cairngorms, and Skye. Also of Edinburgh, but those memories tend to be a lot... blurrier.

Glasgow. It rains here. A lot. But there's haggis.

Were those British bread and sweets?

Day 6 with no phone. The first few days were brutal, I kept thinking about all the calls I was missing. But today and yesterday have been not so bad. Almost relaxing.

Going a week without a cell phone sounds like some sort of zoomer challenge, but I'd never had done it had it not been forced on me. Today I didn't even think about my phone at all until a few minutes ago.

hahahahahhahahaha I've got to ask carefully!

Several years ago my former employer hired a guy from Poland who never lived in the UK before. At his first lunch at work, I told him "British beer is ****". He replied with "yes, and the bread here is also ****".

The British can't make a candy right even if you hand them all the ingredients for the perfect candy bar. EU has much better nonsour chocolate unlike the US, but then they go and make **** like Flakes, Curlywurlys, and Yorkies. What a waste. And don't even get me started Parma Violets, they are like licking a dog's perfumed *******.
