Mad Catz RAT Tournament Edition!
« on: Sun, 27 July 2014, 14:09:44 »
Hey guys, I just noticed this mouse, and since I use and love my RAT3 due to its good sensor and light weight I thought I'd post about it.

Link to the product info:
http://store.madcatz.com/categories/mice-category/Mad-Catz-R-A-T-TE-Mouse-for-PC-and-Mac.html

And a review:
http://www.pcgamer.com/review/mad-catz-r-a-t-te-mouse-review/#null

It's got an 8200DPI Philips Doppler sensor apparently, OMRON switches, precision button (for lowering DPI temporarily), really low lift-off distance and it's really light (90g, even less than a RAT3!)

Sounds like a good one for those of us who like light mice and it addresses my main problems with the current RAT 3 (high lift off distance, no precision button and non-OMRON switches).

I'm interested to find out more about that sensor if anyone has any info?
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

If it's laser, not interested.

It's a new generation laser doppler sensor from Philips. They seem to have fixed the Twin Eye issues. So the reasons for avoiding it "because it's laser" may be moot.

From what I can garner from the reviews I can find, it's very accurate and tracks well, even at full 8200 CPI. No mentions of acceleration issues, lift-off movement, tracking errors, etc..

The best feature: You can set the lift-off distance from 0.2 to 1.0mm depending on the surface you're using and what you prefer  :D  According to the reviews I have read so far it works well.

Another advantage over the RAT3 is that the palm rest is adjustable without having to take a screwdriver to it.
