Thanks! I figured I'd do a mockup since a lot of people end up doing 60% keyboards.

Looks fantastic speedbump!

I really enjoy the 60% variant with the red spacebar and Esc keys. :-*

Love the colors! Kind of reminds me of Planet Express Ship from Futurama

Wow. It really does look like the planet express ship.

Great minds think alike, I think this is the work of Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth, trying to instigate a whole new world order by introducing these particular coloured keys into our virgin keyboards.

Truly the work of a mad scientist! Also the jukebox return novelty looks absolutely amazing :o

Thanks! I will probably do some slight adjustments to it just in getting the text in a perfect spot and making the "sign arrow" a bit better but it will essentially look like this mock up!

We may have to do a single key GB after this based on the Planet Express Ship/logo somehow ;)

I really love the colorway for this key set. The only thing that throws me off is the seaform tilde key. Could you include a cream tilde key in the base set?

Are you really dead set on 3-1-2-3-4-3 or would you be open to 1-1-2-3-4-4 like all Cherry, DCS, OEM, etc sets?

+1 on this. SA Retro is going all out on retro goodness with 1-1-2-3-4-4 so it would be great if this follows suit... those row 1 keys on the function row definitely convey the old school vibe.

BTW Thanks for taking the time to bring it here to GH for people to toss ideas around and give suggestions. I hope my feedback is welcome and not too critical.

At first, that red/green/white combo really wasn't that appealing, but I must admit it's growing on me. But the novelties aren't that great... the icons are a bit vague... they look like drive-in or motel signs or something, and the script font, while theme-appropriate, doesn't seem to work for me aesthetically. Something that's classically 50's decor, like pointy star shapes or an atomic symbol, might work better. e.g.

For the novelties, how about a font like one of these:

http://marketplace.veer.com/font/Rocket-Script-FDT0000063
http://www.linotype.com/1047/LinotypeGneisenauette-family.html
http://www.identifont.com/identify?6+%20+1KJ+43+4C+4SN+9Z

They look more '50s to me.

About the icons, you can't have really sharp corners on a doubleshot legend, so it would have to be slightly rounded whichever ones you choose. Perhaps a stylized vacuum tube or jukebox or neon diner sign.

Another option for a case design would be covered with padded red vinyl :)
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Thanks a heap for the suggestions/input! The novelties are easily my weakest link, I'm basically relearning photoshop from 10 years ago while doing this so I'm still getting back into it. Great looking stuff that you gave me though, I do plan on the novelties getting a total overhaul before it officially goes on sale!

I think you need to research the limitations of double-shot legends. I don't know exactly what they are myself, but I'm pretty sure it needs to be simpler than the one with the astronaut. SP are basically engraving a mold for a separate piece of the keycap which has to be "contiguous"... picture how a stencil for letters has to deal with the holes... except those joins are "below" it in the keycap. So points are not going to be perfectly sharp, and small details aren't possible. TBH I'm not really sure, you'll have to confirm it with SP or other keycap designers.

so the novelties will have to be extremely basic for doubleshots, and I am dead set on this being SA doubleshots, so for now the interest check will go up on PMK within the week without the novelties being done. I will work with some people to come up with something that works hopefully by the time it hits the sale page. I didn't want to sacrifice and have to go with a lesser quality simply because of novelties.

Got a red nuka cola cap? that would be perfect ;)

Good plan.

Some more feedback:

- Needs a white `~ key. Mockups look strange with a green one while the \| is white. But obviously keep the green `~ and \| for the "60% symmetry" lovers.
- Add a Tsangan kit. You've got 7U spacebars but no 1.5U mods/1U win key to go with it. You've got 1U + and 1U 0 for Cherry 1800 layout, but they need the 1.5U Ctrl and Alt to go with it. Converting the 7U spacebar kit to a full Tsangan kit would be reasonable. Red 1U winkeys would be cool, maybe with the novelty icon if you do one.
- Dvorak/Colemak kit has misaligned legends.

Agreed, the tan ~ key will be included in the base set as well, I'll fix the picture later to show that.

I will add everything for the Tsangan kit as well in place of just a 7u spacebar. Thanks for letting me know what I need for that.

Red Win keys sound like a good idea, will add.

Novelties are being worked on now still to the specs I was sent :)

(and yeah, i noticed the Dvorak legends are a bit off, I will correct that tonight)

Thanks SO much for all the great feedback! I couldn't make the set a great one without help like this!

Just did an overhaul on "Adapter kit" to include everything needed tor a Tsangan kit as well as a few other minor changes.

the "~" key has also been fixed from green to tan, with a green being included in the base set for 60% users.

Haha well I'm really glad you like it! I'm gonna polish off the child buys and hopefully finish up the novelties as soon as possible. it is already in line for an official PMK interest check so hopefully you'll be able to place your vote sooner than later!  That would look awesome with the red case!

Thanks! I just finished a few minor corrections, so please feel free to tell me anything I should fix!

Also, I hope to have some approved novelties up sooner than later! I just really want to get the keyboard and kits right so I can just concentrate on those.

I'd like one of them to be something similar to the logo I've settled on for the set, one GH and /r/mk, and still need another one or two. Ideas always welcome here!

Thanks! yeah we definitely are, and I even want some of the other sets.

Timing will definitely be important here, as I don't want to compete with other sets simply because I'd rather people be able to buy both than have to choose between two. I do hope to push it through interest checks on PMK very soon though, with the GB happening within a reasonable time frame, but when the timing is right!

Hey, I know this is totally unrelated, but I noticed from your sig that you have boards with MX Clears and with MX Greens. I have clears and am considering getting greens, but from the ripometer (on Reddit) it seems that Greens are significantly heavier even than Clears. What's your actual experience? Do they seem much heavier? Are Greens viable for a daily driver board?

Oh yeah, Greens are absolutely viable for a daily driver. I've basically weeded out the collection from anything other than blues or greens as far as Cherry switches go. In my honest opinion, Clears feel just as heavy as Greens, possibly heavier due to their unique force curve after actuation. Greens are very crisp, while clears are not, which probably helps them not feel as heavy either. Greens absolutely aren't as heavy feeling as some would make them out to be, especially after a week of use it will just feel normal and other switches will just feel...flimsy. I cant say enough about Greens, highly recommended by me.

I wasn't on board at first with the colors, but seeing your album and now the Jukebox TV logo have me convinced that this is going to be great!

Thank you for the nice words! That is quite high praise considering I'm not a graphic artist by any means. Thanks again!!

dude, you're awesome! Definitely helped, it has twice as many votes as last night. Enigcoder was telling me he wish he ran 1976 off Massdrop, so honestly I may start putting more effort into getting that Massdrop poll up to 200 than about getting the PMK poll to break even. Having both options will be nice for sure, but it will probably do way better on Massdrop.

Just a quick bit of input, the Alt Gr key in the ISO kit it labelled as Row 4, is there a reason it's Row 4 and not Row 3?

No, needs to be fixed. I'm not super familiar with ISO so thanks for pointing that out! Will fix it now

stfu, you're awesome. deal with it.

Soon enough, soon enough (hopefully). I'm passing the massdrop voting link around anywhere I can.
