Anyone ever see switches like this?:





Just a spring coming out of a hole? Any idea what it is?

it’s fujitsu peerless, the seller pulled the slider off with the cap

A spring over a rubber dome. This type of switch is actually clicky with feel reminiscent more of IBM Model M than of Cherry MX, but the Peerless feels heavier, rougher and inconsistent and keyboards with it are known to have badly designed stabilised keys. It is therefore widely disliked ... although it does have its fans.

The "Peerless" is not the only type of switch with a clicky spring over rubber dome, but it is the most common of those and as such it drags the reputation of that type of mechanism down.

Yes, I'm quite familiar with the notorious Peerless.

Well, thanks for the warning! I didn't realize the white cover was so easily removed:





...probably because no one cares enough about them to go to the trouble to do it very often.  :?)

Peerless uses two-part keycaps, like the Model M, but the mount is MUCH tighter and quite difficult to get out sometimes. That's why it's so easy to pull out the slider as well.

Mine feel broken and I'm still not sure if they are honestly
