Post by: tp4tissue on Sat, 01 April 2023, 16:37:37
you guys eat way 2 much salt, it's insane...

had lunch at a korean family's home today,  the amount of salt eaten ONTOP of various pickles is freightening.  went to their bathroom, snooped their medicine cabinet, yup, hypertensive medication.

I think Asian food in general is very salty due to so many fermented and preserved foods that are utilized as ingredients.

To be fair... The long term effect of dietary sodium on blood pressure is a non issue unless you're genetically predisposed or have other risk factors. Most people I run into should be salting their foods more, especially in the summer.

But still, that sounds like a revolting amount of salt...

Salt has been the traditional preservative for millennia but today we have far more food options available to us, especially in the "first world".
