Twitch.tv Streamers
« on: Sun, 03 August 2014, 16:01:42 »
Hello everyone~!

I'd like to know if you currently stream some of your gameplay, whether you are a casual or hardcore gamer, I think streaming and playing games can be fun especially with a community like geekhack =) If you stream games or any other fun content, post your stream link on this thread and hopefully share when you are going to go live~!

As for me, I will try and stream during my days off work. The best way to know when I go live would be to follow my channel! I'll try and come up with a decent stream schedule for those interested. Hopefully I can add in giveaways if I reach a certain amount of viewers, etc.

My twitch.tv stream is: www.twitch.tv/intricate411

gg and have fun!

GH Streamer list:

1) ezpy = www.twitch.tv/ezpyxo
2) exitfire401 = www.twitch.tv/exitfire401
3) ApocalypseMaow = www.twitch.tv/apocalypsemaow
4) missalaire = www.twitch.tv/missalaire
5) SlotH42 = www.twitch.tv/SlotH42

Don't stream as much as I used to, but if I stream, it'll mostly be LoL and whatever MMO I'm playing at the time.

Tip 1: Use OBS

Tip 2: Setup according to this guide: http://www.twitchtvchat.com/Streaming%20with%20Open%20Broadcaster%20Software.pdf

Tip 3: Learn how to balance your audio levels

Tip 4: Learn how to make your own overlays. Take a screenshot while you're in game at full resolution, put it into photoshop (or gimp, whatever you're using) and layer over the screenshot to create your overlay! (I'm terrible at projects like this, so take tips from others on this front.

OBS is definitely the way to go. It's not too difficult to figure things out in terms of settings to get things started. hmmm now that I think about it, it would be interesting to see some dedicated stream days, where a few people on here play the same game together? Let me know if you are interested in that hehe =)

Ah, thanks. I am using OBS already thanks to some help from some old friends from EVE, but I will start looking into making my own overlay :) and start reading that pdf too.

I am on twitch.tv/katushkin as per usual

Nvidia Shadowplay can stream as well or better than OBS if you have an Nvidia GPU.

Shadowplay uses your graphics card as the encoder, rather than your computer processor. Here is a link to the requirement page: http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/system-requirements

Some negatives: No overlay compatibility. At this time, you can only have a webcam, and a status indicator (I guess to say you're online?)

Positives: With the newest update they allowed "Desktop Capture" so that you can play your game in "Windowed Mode" if you so choose. Other positive obviously being the increase in FPS.

I've tried streaming BF4 for test purposes on OBS and Shadowplay and I get noticeably better FPS using Shadowplay than OBS.

I've got AMD, so no luc there :) I will just try and work it out one day, and get someone to help me test my audio levels.

You don't know what you're missing out :P

J/k AMD is fine, I prefer NVIDIA though. OBS is the best streaming program besides Shadowplay so you'll be fine.

I'm very much in support of this idea! Let's do it!

I've tried streaming BF4 for test purposes on OBS and Shadowplay and I get noticeably better FPS using Shadowplay than OBS.

The lack of an actual interface or the options to customize the stream at all is the only reason i suggest obs over shadowplay.  Ive been using shadowplay since release to give feedback on it, but until it's more flexible, it's just not the platform for me.

Shadowplay is so finicky that changing settings will often require me to reboot my entire system before it decides to play nice again.

Using the spare GPU power is nice though, I don't get noticeable performance loss when I'm streaming Payday and such.

Is there no way to start a poll or is that reserved for mods?
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

:D Exitfire401 - based mod

I say our options are -

A F2P MMO, or possibly one with a trial period
Some kind of MOBA - (Dota2 or LOL)
A cheap FPS (CS:S, CS:GO, BFBC2)
An RTS (Civilisation series, Age of Empires series)
Card games (CAH, Tabletop Simulator)
Indie games (Speed Runners (only 4 player) showdown effect, etc)
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

If you guys are looking for a new F2P MMO to start off in together, Archeage is getting close to open beta, I believe.  The second CB just ended earlier today (?) or last night, I can't remember.

Like some others said, OBS is also the way to go.  I'd probably stick to a game that requires more teamwork if you'll be streaming it.  It's always more entertaining trying to watch people work together, imo.

I wouldn't say ArcheAge is that great as a F2P experience. Labor and crafting is a big part of the game and you're pretty much ****ed as a F2P player when it comes to those. You also can't own a house as a F2P player. Though, it depends what kind of goals you have set as a MMO player.

Tera is supposedly pretty good as a F2P though. I can't comment on it personally as I quit before it went F2P, but I've heard good things about it.

Good points about AA.  Forgot about that.  :-X

Tera's pretty decent as a F2P.  Better than Rift's P2W, at least.  If you guys do play Tera, I'd actually be interested if you still have room for one more.  I always liked that game but my group of friends stopped playing a looonnggg time ago and I just never got back into it.

I'm definitely down for terra as long as we start new characters. I still have founder status on there and i love the combat system.

Don't bother with tera.  The company sucks and the game is so bug filled.  Has constant memory leaks as well which are never fun.

Surprisingly, I never had issues with Tera.  The company sucks but...most of them aren't great these days.   My friends had some awful memory leaks and constant crashing but yeah, game was rock solid for me.  Luck of the draw, I guess.

I mean its playable but it definitely has its problems.  Memory leaks were an issue with how long me and my friends played at a time.  It was horribly optimized.  And nexus slide show was ****ing hours of fun everyday.

I played the hell out of Tera when it came out and quit a couple months before it became f2p. Was super fun when I played. AMD processors have terrible performance with Tera and when I switched to Intel it was fine.

I played when it went f2p but almost all the people i played with played before it was f2p.  I'm running a 2500k @4.5ghz and a 6950 with unlocked shaders.  There's a problem with a game when you can sit in town and turn off UI to double/triple fps.

Honestly, I just want an MMO I can play and enjoy again. :(  It's been a while since I really got sucked into one and had a good time.  Besides Tera, are there any other suggestions?

Mmm...

I still think an FPS or a MOBA could be fun. But I would like to see what MMOs people come up with. I'm totally done with EVE Online now, so I guess I could do with something else to play when my friends don't want to play Dota.

Alright, poll's up. Was just waiting until I got back to a computer. Go with what you feel. Once we have a game figured out, we can choose a date/time.

Thanks exitfire401 for starting the poll up makes tracking so much easier! =) As for me I'm down with any game. I'll be voting for Tera since its a game I haven't played at all.
