Just combed through all the pages since I left off 8 hours ago. Very happy to see many familiar names winning! This is an awesome sale! Congrats everyone!!!

Very exciting indeed!

My first ever Clack sale  :thumb:

How'd you manage to get one? Did you not sleep last night? haha

Haha, close to not sleeping, it was at 4:00 AM  :blank:
It was 12.50am and I was in the bed, nodding off as I refresh the thread from the iPhone. I was about to switch off the phone and call it a loss. Can't possibly be waiting till 3am or 4am. (HIGH RESPECT TO YOU GLENMAEL!)

Then at 12.57am, CC posted that the sale is on in the next few minutes!!!!

I jumped out of the bed (LITERALLY JUMPED!!!!!!!!!!! luckily the wife did not notice) .. and run to the PC, BUT DAMN IT!! Chrome hanged! (I had the email drafted and ready on the PC!) I can't BELIEVE my luck!! Fortunately I had another draft on the phone, but I was very nervous about submitting on the phone. Where is the damn timer? Windows 10 does not have a second hand, I think, **** I have one minute to act!!! Quickly I fired up Firefox on the PC while Chome is still (not responding), typed one finger for timeanddate.com and LUCKILY they had a second countdown timer in the front page.. And I sent the email from the draft on the phone on the dot!

It was a super duper nail biting experience. So many things can go wrong (what if the Outlook app on iPhone had a delay? Or had an Undo like Gmail.. or)

After that, I uninstalled Chrome on the PC. Stupid browser!!!

I thought I am a veteran on email sales. You are never veteran on any sale in GH unless you are god of pc, cough nassfu, cough! ! Lesson learned!

I guess after this time when I return to Malaysia after my studies, I'd prolly not get another chance to get a clack due to the timezone unless I lurk around at these ungodly hours.  :)

During Clackvent our sense of community goes up while our IRL friendships languish.

And my wife becomes a Clack widow.
I'm back.

This fabled Clackvent sounds interesting.  Hard to see how anyone would trade these caps after what it took to get them.

Perhaps the 1000%+ re-sale markup has something to do with it?

I literally went to sleep at 3:45am, 15 minutes before the sale... I knew something was going to happen while I was sleeping, but I didn't know it was going to be that close...

If it makes you feel better the sale happened at 12PM EST and I sat down from lunch at 12:03 PM. Had I not gone and bought a ****ty burger from Wendys I might have stood a chance  :'(

I saw the message at 10:58 CST, got the email drafted, and zoned out for about a couple of minutes. It didn't hit me until 11:00:40 that I hadn't sent the email...

Lets hope so - it was good fun!  This year I'm in a more responsible job though, so I'm not sure I can see 3am a couple of days a week.  When I did that more often than not I nodded off at the crucial moment and missed it anyway so probably for the best I don't try :-[

I got in trouble a couple of times for being on my phone last time. Still the same company and they don't really stress it too much. Hopefully were not doing anything too involved when the time comes.

Well I'm good on that front - I go to work after midnight and when I get home it's still morning US time, so I can relax at work (only missed two chances IIRC) but most sales were in the evening so that was early hours here.  Clacks are great but not worth getting fired for, be careful

For me it's not really trouble. It's more of a show. We have a lot of 19-25 working with us and they will stand on their phones all day. More to look like no matter who you are, being on the phone is punishable or I wouldn't do it.

One time I had a foreman jump allover me for being on the phone and my response was, "I'm just doing what you do all day." That I actually got in trouble for. This was years before I made it here though.

You're right, not worth getting fired for. Then I won't have the money to buy more, and that's not right.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

i got a cancellation notice!

actually, he originally sent off two different shipping numbers, and then canceled one of them afterwards.  all i saw was the cancel notification on my phone, which gave me a little jump.
