« on: Wed, 31 October 2018, 14:55:14 »
Damn kids must be rich des days buyin' their own candy.

Tp4 remembers trickortreatn' all the way home from school to maximize candy-time.. Then did rounds until 10:30pm w/ different costumes

It's not even dark at 4pm!

Hardly any here either and it's 9 already, it's not cold or rainy so can only assume the electronic age has killed another tradition.

Hrrrrmm..  vidya > candy ?
That depends - healthy kids need exercise but how much do they need before it's offset by excess candy?

If the aim is to be as lazy as possible as a parent as seems to be the modern way - yes :(

haven't had a trick 'r treater come to where i live for about 11 years. there was barely anyone even out there earlier, it just doesn't feel like the same fun holiday it used to be. everyone's frightened of the boogieman.

Finally, we have successfully educated our children not to take candy from strangers!

Now we just have another problem to solve

Perhaps it's parents spoiling their kids more and more, but even a spoiled little snot would want free candy.

Reminds me I got to get back on that. It's so easy to fall back into bad eating habits when you take a break.

It's not really a thing over here.

Didn't hear anyone in the streets last night (apart from the F*&^@#*&@# builders noising away until nearly 9:30pm down the road) this year.

One year there was a small group a kids wandering around looking lost.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My neighborhood, which has lots of kids and is near two schools, doesn't do much of anything. Of the 14 or so houses I can see down my street, 2 did Halloween stuff this year, and maaaybe 3 will bother to  put up Christmas lights. Despite all this, they bring carloads of kids to trick or treat through here because it's one of the few housing tracks in town.

I started putting up Christmas lights just because the rest of this neighborhood doesn't, how can you have so many kids here and not even put up lights?

Our neighborhood seems to be trying to kill it.  8 PM Curfew and no one over 12 can trick or treat.  I had to urge the kids to take more, and even then, I only got through maybe a third of what I bought.
