Post by: Wanita on Wed, 18 November 2015, 03:38:53
When I first saw this kind of keyboard, I was deeply impressed.
And never saw it before. Do you have any ideas about this keyboard? Share with us then.
It looks so cool.

Loos like it came straight out of Star Trek. This would be so much cooler if it's mechanical and has mouse functionality.

This was a Kickstarter-Projekt and as many people asked for mechanical switches, they upgrated to Cherry MX braun switches!
It HAS mouse funktionality and all keys are fully programmable!

Final produkt looks like this:

Downside: $399,-

I remember when this was shared on reddit many months ago.

My biggest issue is that the designers decided to go with an optical mouse rather than trackball. The trackball would have been a much better implementation not only for comfort but general ergonomics as well. The keyboard design is fine, but the sides/mouse areas are just...awful.

This is a great idea, but poor execution.

Hey, if they had used a trackball then it wouldn't be a "KeyMouse" but a "KeyBall" ...

I am also a bit curious about the large amount of tiny buttons.
I am also used to pressing the Alt keys with my thumbs, which isn't possible here without releasing the keymouse completely.

A rollbar mouse might have been even better. Moving your keyboards around to mouse with them isn't ergonomic at all, basically making for bad typing positions, plus gripping for prolonged amounts of time and resting your wrist on it too much...

Awesome! How much does that cost? I saw something like that a while ago, I forget what it was called but I know it had the word king either in the company name or the product name.

Super expensive. But it looks so cool...

Interesting.  I too am interested in all the tiny buttons.  Those can't feel good and some of the ergonomics of hitting a button with the thumb sideways already feels painful.

Yep, so was curious what happened to the production model, or if they even went into production.

I have the feeling those thumb buttons would be way too small for my thumbs.

Hi Guys,
We finally have KeyMouse available on our website.  We've re-designed it from the ground up 3 times now based on user feedback.  Due to the fact that so many users have various needs, we've decided to manufacture with 3D printing + custom soft touch paint finishing to give us the flexibility to adapt the design quickly and easily.  We have various other designs in the works including a trackball version so we're definitely going to create a version for that (and in the future gaming pads and specialized mouse devices).  We're setting up a 3D print farm for our manufacturing.  We have 21 3D printers now, and growing.

It's been a long journey.  We have about 120 sets of KeyMouse Alpha in the field now (we call our current model KeyMouse Alpha, and our trackball version will be called KeyMouse Track).

You can see some testimonials from existing users at: www.keymouse.com/testimonials (http://www.keymouse.com/testimonials)
You can see comments on our forum at: www.keymouse.com/forum (http://www.keymouse.com/forum)

More coming...a major pivot point for us is when we decided to make our components modular, and 3D print manufacturing. With these 2 key points, the sky is the limit with the variations of KeyMouse that we can create based on specific users' needs.

Thanks,
Heber

Would make an awesome two fisted gaming pad.

I think I'd be better off with a ham-fisted gaming pad, to suit my gaming style.
