i'll break from the standard and suggest a site across the country from me, Vegas - specifically, January 11 or 12.
* CES ends January 10. vendors will still be in town.
* Vegas is easy driving distance from LA and has (relatively) cheap direct flights from a lot of places.
* lots of competition for venue and accommodations, so cost should be reasonable.
