I dont think we can do much tho. Im thinking if we put the key color as a base color and use the 2nd color to be shade/highlight, they can look quite nice.

I am not against the idea; if you want to create a vector for one of the leagues we can take a look at it and see if two colors is feasible.

Bronze silver and gold would be doable. So would masters... but diamond, platinum, and GM wouldn't turn out very well, and even then only the basic hexagonal symbols would work. The symbols are just too complex. Believe me I think they would be really cool, I already mulled that one over but didn't suggest it because they simply won't turn out very good in any sort of limited color process. Even as dye subs they wouldn't come out very good I'm pretty sure.

Basically, nobody is going to want lower league keys, so why bother?

We could always just make it a set; but all or none type deal like with the Portal caps. It fixes the issue of certain caps being underbought but also makes it more of a legit thing; fill out an area of the keyboard with all of the caps and what not.

I have done some research regarding copyright infringement and use of "whole or part of an image without permission" is considered infringement. If you were to use your modified graphic on the internet, there are copyright protection programs designed to search out similar images and relay this information to the creator/owner of the image. It is obviously going to be a bit harder with a molded keycap, but none the less, Signature Plastics will be liable in the event someone sues us for infringement. If you guys want to check this out with a copyright or patent attorney and find that it is ok, please forward that information.
 
As far as the Japanese flag, this won't be a problem, however the image size came across at 4.8611" x 5.0298". I am unclear how this is different than the original design as it is still a circle . I would need to know the exact size the image should be on the keycap...

If you already have the SVG's made then I can send them out sometime this week to see if they are even possible to be made by Doubleshot but I think the only difficult part will be to find people with interest in the set. ~2 weeks for interest, ~2 weeks for orders, ~4-5 weeks for production, ~2 weeks for shipping.

Design alterations are done to SP specs during the interest check to make sure it can be done. Once it is set in stone the orders are taken. Last week of the orders the money is invoiced/collected, and once all of the money is collected the order is placed to the manufacturer.

I'll run that GB on league keys if everyone finds that to their liking. I'm totally on board with those designs, I didn't think it could be done.

Its all relative with the Japan key, but I'd just go with half as far from the vertical edge as it is from the horizontal. Melissa is smart enough that she should be able to take a look at a Japanese flag and see how big it should be on the key. You could just say "double the diameter of the red circle," and it would probably be pretty close

Yea; pretty much. The dot, because its in SVG form, is irrelevant in terms of size. Because it is just a simple shape they need to know the distance from the edges of the key. This partly the reason why the old 'Japan' key had such a small dot: it was just a circle.

Pick a size so the circle is about the same radius as it is from the top and bottom? (or larger)

If you search japan and go to its wikipedia, the picture of the flag is in svg format. Just click on the flag, then it takes u to the pic on the website, then right click it and open image in new tab. It'll give you the png link. If you take out the .png, the svg is left

Saying that SP is liable for the images and designs that their clients choose is like saying Google is liable for linking to trademarked/copyrighted material. Or that Microsoft is liable for every person who's downloaded a song or movie on a Windows PC, because they provided the OS for bit torrent clients to run on. It makes no sense.

If we were going to manufacture these keycaps, and then sell them for a profit, then sure... that's infringement. But this has GOT to be fair use. I mean, would we be having the same problem if we were dealing with the Nike swoosh here? Or is it just paranoia of Lucas and his Gestapo?

Well, from SP's point of view, because they are PRODUCING a PRODUCT that is COPYRIGHTED they are fearful. Feel free to find out what you can from a patent lawyer if you want; she said if a Patent Lawyer sees nothing wrong with it she will do it. Technically, in the profit scope, SP is making money off of the designs so thats something to think about.

I know how you feel. Kinda like if you scribbled a tie fighter on your paper while you were bored in clase (i've done it alot), and some guy in a suite comes up and slaps me with a lawsuit cos It's copyright infringement. But yeah. But on SP's defence, They are a business and don't want any unnecessary trouble if it could be avoided.

Thank you for the additional files. I do however need to know the actual size of the image - there are too many variables on my end to figure out from the edge of the keycap... can you have however drew this to tell me what they want the actual diameter of the circle to be?
