I've always liked how keyboards looked with brand new white PBT blank/engraved/printed/side-printed,etc keycaps in photos, and i've always wanted to get myself a set.

But the problem with that is that I am afraid of getting the keys dirty, and seeing all the visible dust and hair in my keycaps.

Im sure alot of people here on Geekhack have had white keys for a while, so how do they look like after 1 month, 3 monthes, or even 6 monthes of usage? Some pictures would really be great!

My HHKB (pbt) look as good as new after two years of heavy coding (minus the ABS spacebar). They just need a good cleaning. But keyboards get dirty. Keyboards never realistically look as good as they do in photos. It's best to ignore it, then after a few months, clean it, take a couple photos and go back to using it.

btw I saw that you asked for pics, and I didn't fulfill that lol, so here's a thread with some photos of moderately used hhkb (10 months of coding 6-8 hours a day)

Thanks! Your HHKB looks rediculously clean for the amount of time that you've had it.

Of course. Who doesn't? That's how you can know it's yours.

That said, yours looks to be in great shape.

Honestly, worrying about dirty keys isn't really necessary. If they do get dirty, you can just throw them in a tupperware with some denture cleaning tabs, soak them for 15 minutes, shake them dry in a towel, let them air dry for a bit, and then pop them back on. They'll look good as new.
Risen from the dead for a model F.

Wyse buy colors were GSY for the dark grey, GBA for the light grey, and BBI for the fonts.

It's certainly something I'll consider next time I buy engraved, my WASD white lasered keys take EVERYTHING off my hands, and make the grooves look pretty gross.

Everytime I do that, I rotate to a different set of keycaps.

This is what happened to my HHKB after 5 years of use. The series of photo I am about to post gets even better because I compare my old HHKB with like-new HHKB. You can see how Topre PBT keys wear. Please note that I type lightly and I rarely sweat, both of which I think would negatively affect wear rate.

I didn't clean the board(just some air) before taking pictures, so part of that shine may come off after cleaning.

The photos are mine, and was posted before at http://www.kbdmania.net/xe/3510267

Edit: I re-read your post and I see that you were asking for pictures of white caps. It is hard to see how textures of key caps wear if they are white. So, I think you could at least see how textures of the Topre PBT keys wear.

I feel like an OCD clean freak after looking at Ripster's board.
