Just for clarity, you have extras that are not spoken for that do have the macro mode? If so I'll PM you for one.

Thanks!

And the ebay guy has another 40 listed.... amazing.

Wow he just got done telling me the other day he was out of 2 tone pads....

Start making really low offers I'd say it is set to autoaccept, IF I was guessing I'd say either $350 or $400 would take the lot  :))

That must be for the 'other' guy.  ::)

I'd doubt it was another geek hack person. What's he going to do? Get into a price war with me? That'd be just stupid.

Amidst much craziness (UPS, mail, two contractors, and a horse training session) I was able to unpack my number pad. I honestly didn't expect the case to be so bulky. It's nice, but I probably won't be able to use it at work as I'd hoped since my desk is already crowded.

Still, it's here, and I want to thank SpAmRay for facilitating this mini-GB.

I'll be doing some testing tonight.

I didn't get a chance to check all of them last night, but I prioritized all the ones that had red X's or bad boxes, and so far everything has come up aces!

So once SpamRay sells out of his pile, I'm going to set up a thread in the classifieds.

Sorry it's too big for your desk, I added some nice pictures to the OP to better illustrate the size.

Also sending out some invoices and waiting to hear back on some PM's.

Did anyone receive a wobbly numpad? Mine is a little uneven on the bottom.

I didn't get one from this buy but I bought one a few months ago. It was wobbly as well. I stumbled on a fix that worked for me but your results may vary.

I tried flexing it a bit to see if I could get it to adjust. I held it by two opposite corners and flexed it down. After a little pressure I heard a pop like something snapped into place and then it wobbled on the opposite corners. So I repeated the process on those corners and I heard another pop. After that it was nice and flat.

Try at your own risk. It's possible may have broken something. But it fixed the wobbling problem for me.

For the record I didn't actually take these out of the box or plastic, I just plugged them in and made sure everything registered and mode 4 activated.

Not sure how common them not sitting flat is. Good to know it seems fixable in some cases anyways.

Four more going out in the morning and that should about wrap it up except for the 2 on hold and sir bunny's pad which will get to him eventually :P

All of my units minus 2 I'm holding and one for bunnylake are out in the wild. All CONUS orders show delivered based on USPS tracking and the other international orders have departed for their final destinations.

If anyone has any trouble programming or switching modes etc you can read all about it here http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_G80-3700 or PM me and I can try to explain it as well. One other note is depending on ps2 adapter etc I can't guarantee you will get the same results, I used the ID Innovations adapter.

Just an FYI, the way mine worked was to plug a USB-PS2 adapter to the top of the keypad, and then connect my Filco (which was provided with said adapter). My RACE S wouldn't communicate through the PS2 adapter, even though it works on my computer with said adapter.

I finally figured you had to use a PS/2 device at the far end of the keypad -- reprogrammed one of the relegendables, played my game with an easy to reach pause key; but now none of the keys seem to work.

I'm going to fiddle with it this week. Maybe a cable got kicked loose (though the numlock light toggles but only in sync with the main keyboard's numlock light) or maybe once you reprogram it the thing needs a keyboard left in to keep it company...? Too, on my setup I've got a BTL-80 linear scanner sitting between the computer and the keypad -- although it worked when there was no programming involved.

So my next step may just be to wipe to factory state and see if that changes the rest of the keypad's behavior. </shrug>

After I programmed my keys with my filco, I was able to detach it and use my Race S in USB with the keypad in PS2 on my computer. Everything works as desired.

Are you in mode 4? Mode 4 has no keys working unless you program them.

Technically what I want is a plate for my GHpad as produced by AbuStudios (maybe I'll edit this with correct spelling when I have a minute) but I might be interested, yes.

Oh, and JimDesu: Yes, I must have put it in Mode4 and not realized what I'd done. Rereading the wiki page, and deliberately setting the unit to Mode1 brought back my ESC and arrow keys so helpful for manipulating the grub boot menu without sliding out the keyboard tray.

Hello friends, thanks to Kalrand, I was finally able to acquire one of these for myself :)

I have two main issues, hopefully someone more knowledgeable could help:

I've read and realized that the Deskthority states the numpad cannot work in standalone mode without a keyboard connected to the numpad.
Have people found a way to make the numpad still work without the main keyboard plugged into it?

Another problem is that some of my computers do not have PS/2 connectors. I've tested the numpad using a native PS/2 connector in the motherboard, and it works great (still not sure how programming works but I'll get to that later).
My main computers do not have PS/2 connectors, so if I were to use an ordinary PS/2 to USB plug (read: plug, not the cube converter that has circuitry built in) to try to connect to the computer, it does not work.
Would getting the cube PS/2 connector work? What are my options for getting this numpad to work via USB?

Right now I have it connected:
Filco TKL (USB->PS/2) -> G80-3700 (PS/2 -> USB) -> USB Port on back of motherboard.

Being able to use the numpad standalone is not the biggest issue, but would love to get it working with USB!

Forgive me for my newbieness, hope someone can help :)

These keypads totally work without a keyboard attached to them, they just need an active PS/2->USB converter to connect to a USB port. You can't use one of the simple adapters that are usually free on a cheaper keyboard.

The blue cubes really are the best price/performance for something like this.
My 122 key Model M was born on July 25th, 1988.

I will try out one of these http://sewelldirect.com/Active-USB-to-PS2-Adapter.asp
Hopefully it will work in standalone mode!

Wow, that's one clean looking converter. Is it Active? That's crazy if they managed to fit the circuitry in there somehow.

Yes it is active. Works fine on my model m, g80-3700, and an old compaq keyboard
