Yes it would have been easier if the guy would have sold these cheaper to start with but he wanted $50 when we started this and only offered a discount for buying multiple units, hence the entire reason for a group buy.

The seller doesn't drop ship, he made that clear to begin with. He hadn't even advertised the two tone keypads and had planned on selling them for $75 but it is easier for him if we just buy all of them so he can ship one box and be done with it.

I'm trying to do the community a favor by fronting the money so we can get these units secured for us and then redistribute them.

Seller went back on the agreement we had and sold all of these together, he offered them to me for $500 so I'm assuming that's the deal someone got in case these show up later.

No sorry we were only able to secure 15 units and they have all been spoken for. But someone just bought 32 more off ebay for probably ~$15 each so I would say they will show up at some point for sale.

Yes to be clear kalrand has done nothing wrong at all. I shared with him some info about the ebay seller and he took the risk I wasn't willing to take in buying this second lot.

My problem was with the ebay seller and whoever caused my agreement to fall through with him.

In summary I had an gentleman's agreement with the ebay seller that  I was buying 15 units (these are bought and on the way to me as per the OP) and when he counted up what he had left I could buy whatever additional units I wanted at the same price as the first set, before anyone else.

Well when I contacted the seller yesterday evening he tells me about all these additional units, including how some boxes were damaged, some had red 'x's on them etc and then asks me to send him $500 over paypal, he didn't offer to do an ebay auction etc, all the while telling me he now had other interested parties and the first to pay him got the lot. I countered reminding him of our agreement and also asking for specific units at the previous price and never got a response.

Then this morning I saw the auction was running and posted here about it and was also pm'ing with kalrand who ended up purchasing the lot.

The seller put a really odd clause in the terms of that last auction. He'd only guarantee 75% of the units were working, and even then would only pay back a percentage of the cost of all the broken ones past that, and even then, only if all 25%+ units were returned. Some boxes are damaged, and others even have big red Xs written on them. Not really promising signs.

Also, while I know the particular model I bought before does Mode 4, he listed a number of slightly different model numbers. From my research, Cherry was a bit odd in which exact models did mode 4, and which ones didn't work without another keyboard plugged into the input socket.

I'm not going to sell something unknown to people, so I'll be guaranteeing the QC on whatever comes out of this.

Besides, this is probably the only community in the world where "Totally Broken Keypad. Has Rust. And Spiders. YMMV" will still get someone who wants to harvest the switches or case or whatnot and so even totally broken ones won't be a total loss.

Firstly, that was my friend, he got 5 keypad from this guy like two weeks ago and he decided to ask to to buy all out, I think the conversation started before SpAmRaY start the GB.
Secondly, Those 75% of the units were working things were part of the deal from my friend to the seller, which already made an agreement with him the night before, then the seller decided to put it up on ebay and let my friend purchase it, for some reason he made it auto approve instead of approve it manually for $450, then you got it before my friend.

It's still not a bad price I think for what you get, my friend was buying it for his accounting team to use. I told him any leftover I would like to take it and maybe sell it here for a fair price.
$14 a piece and with shipping and pp fee will keep those 32 keypads below $25 shipped. Which I think at least most people here in this groupbuy will be happy. Except my friend  )

Start making really low offers I'd say it is set to autoaccept, IF I was guessing I'd say either $350 or $400 would take the lot  )
