Keyboard of the Month - August - Vote
« on: Tue, 01 September 2015, 15:25:07 »
Firstly, I want to thank everyone for taking part this month. I was quite scared that the excitement surrounding Keyboard of the Month had died down, but you guys showed me that this was not at all the case. We had TEN boards nominated this month! And we also had a grand total of 33 plus ones as well. So thank you all again for your participation, and your backing in this little project of mine :)

But of course we have to get to the vote itself, and I'm actually going to shake it up a bit, because I'm going to put four boards to the vote this month.

First off, with eight +1s, it's Zeal's Duck Viper with his own custom switch, the Zealio.

You can find more info on the switch and details about the Group Buy here

Second, with seven +1s is Nubbinator's % Sprit board, with custom walnut and purpleheart wood case with GMK Triumph Adler

There are more pictures in his thread here

Usually if we have a tie, I pick the one I like the best out of the two, because that's the quickest way of doing it. However I just couldn't choose between these two, so finally we have these two boards, who both received four +1s each.

VVhitel2abbit's gambler build

His thread can be found here

And Snowdog993's Terminal M conversion (I need to get me one of these)

His build log was posted in the KOTM nomination thread here

As always, the poll will run for seven days, so get your votes in!

And thank you all again for the support :)
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Nubbs has my vote, that board looks bOgie ask ****. Makes me wanna put a coaster on it so I don't ruin the wood. Makes me wanna put a library in my house just to compliment it. Makes me wanna take up cigar smoking and brandy buying. Makes me wanna hunt endangered African lions and mount their heads on my wall...

I know someone says this every month, but this is a tough month! Zeal's Viper represents one of the coolest and most ambitious community-driven developments we've ever seen; nubbinator and whiterabbit each have impressive DIY boards; and Snowdog's board is a Model M that by all accounts should be dead, but looks brand-new. I'm going to have to sleep on it before I cast my vote.

Very voted, but had to think about this one.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That was very, very close. As of yesterday, nubs and Zeal were neck and neck.

A tight race, with four great boards. Congratulations to Zeal on the win!
