Hope to see the price for this go down, especially if we have to provide our own PCB. Here is what the original Alice went for: "$463 for case + plate + weight + PCB (Pre-soldered with controller parts, LED's resistors, and diodess)". Cheers!

This includes a pcb.

Feel like pcb should be optional addon, most have alice pcbs and configs already. And if they need they can just order off projectkb.

Actually I guess this pcb is unique so it might make sense to include.

I just pre-ordered 2 of the "ALICE PCB REV2" (USB-C) and 1 POM plate and 1 fiberglass plate. Will your case fit any of those?

Plates, yes. PCB's no.

Let the haters hate, and the thread crappers spread their crap. Even with that, your ~50 units will be sold out in no time.

In for one, hoping to get 2.

Also, suggestion for the script for the bottom weight logo is attached.

(Attachment Link)

Bruh, just keep it to one

Limit 1 per person.

Hope to see the price for this go down, especially if we have to provide our own PCB. Here is what the original Alice went for: "$463 for case + plate + weight + PCB (Pre-soldered with controller parts, LED's resistors, and diodess)". Cheers!

Hopefully the price is steep so I won't have to fight for 50 units.

Are you hinting that I should increase the pricing? I would be ok with that  :D

SMH. Proper typing means your wrists should be floating. And for that reason, I'm out.

You should price this so what you get is worth your time and effort.

I’d say $400 range is already more than enough for a top mount board. Inflating the price just to create a luxury item only the rich can afford... ah well, my wallet will speak and do nothing I guess.

What sort of mount would you prefer? Top mount is the best I've used. Most gasket boards are a joke, bottom mount isn't bad. Get a POM plate cut for it.

On the board itself: thank you for not making it polycarbonate. If I wanted a plastic board I'd buy a Realforce.

The Fallacy

People were calling Alice clones "Falice". Sounded a lot like "Phallus" to me. Friend told me that wasn't a good idea. Fallacy it is.

Features
  • Top Mount
  • Anodized 5052 Aluminum for the Top and Bottom Case
  • Sandblasted Brass Weight
  • 6.5 Degree Typing Angle
  • 16.5mm Front Typing Height
  • USB Mini port
  • PCB Compatible With QMK
  • PCB features flex cuts
  • Brass weight spans the entirety of the alpha cluster
  • Side cutouts for grip
  • Pricing: most likely mid/low $400's (tentative estimate CAN CHANGE)

I chose to go with a relatively low typing angle at 6.5 degrees and front lip height of 16.5mm for my own comfort. I have found that my preferred range for typing angles is between 5 degrees and 7.5 degrees.
Any lower feels awkward. Any higher results in strain on my wrists. Similarly, a typing height of over 20mm results in my wrists losing contact with my desk, forcing me to keep my hands floating. I find this tiring so I made the typing height as low as possible.

Supported Layouts

Will have standard Alice supported layouts
  • Split/normal backspace
  • Split/normal right shift
  • Stepped/normal capslock

Plate

The plate will be the standard 1.5mm thickness. It will be compatible with the standard Alice plate.
There will be a few choices for plate material:
  • Aluminum
  • Brass
  • POM Plastic

PCB
  • QMK Compatible
  • USB Mini port
  • Flex Cuts
Show Image

The board is also able to accept standard Alice PCBs if you already have those on hand.

Weight
  • "Fallacy" engraving
  • Sandblasted
  • Internally secured by screws
  • Alpha cluster has brass under it for acoustics

GIF of weight:https://i.imgur.com/yXv2Cm0.mp4

I enjoy patina so there will be no coating added. End users can apply a layer of wax or something if they would like to prevent patina from forming.

O I'm not saying that top mount is bad by any means :) What I meant was that a topmount usually requires less material and a easier to manufacture plate. For that reason top mounts are usually a bit cheaper to manufacture than fancy gasket mounts with all sorts of extra stuff that comes with it.

Let me clear some things up:
  • The price hiking was a joke. I'm not going to make the base cost higher than the $400's range.
  • The plate mounting style does not significantly change any costs. This board was more expensive for me to prototype than another design of mine that utilized isolation gasket mounting. The main contributors to costs are machining time (usually proportional to size) and material.

I have to admit that I am very hesitant to remove the engraving despite people expressing their distaste for it. I personally (and obviously there's a lot of bias to it) really like it and believe that it will look better in real life compared to the renders. So, I want to wait to receive the prototypes and take better pictures of the actual weight.
If people still dislike how it looks, then I will likely relent and just have a blank weight.

I'm okay with the engraving as a concept, but I definitely think the script should be re-worked to flow a little bit better (especially the F).

So, there are only 2 options for weight engraving: current design and blank?
Would prefer some engraving over blank. Any chance for an alternative design?

From what I have gathered, it seems like the controversial part of the engraving is the letter "F".
The issue is that this is the only cursive script font I've found that I felt tastefully did the letter "F" (imo) while keeping everything easily machinable.

thats fair, i didnt think about keeping things machinable. i saw the suggestion of the backward F like fender, seems like a neat idea. personally, the logo isn't a deal breaker for me. looks good with or without  ;D
