Title: [IC] Siso keyset (on hold)
Post by: MAR82 on Tue, 05 May 2015, 10:38:09
I have had this idea for a keyset in my head for some time. So I just had to get it out there to ask what people think and see if there could be some interest in such a set.

I was inspired by other sets, like the most obvious would be Soware http://keypuller.com/soware/, or Calm Depths http://keypuller.com/calm-depths/, and also the blue accents from the Dolch GMK https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0490/7329/products/Dolch_Addon.JPG?v=1417083743

The set would use Cherry style legends (sorry if my pictures doesn't use the right font or arrows)

I would love to have the set made with Cherry profile caps, but I'm not ready to run a GMK GB by myself.
The other problem with having it be GMK would be kits. I would like to make some additional kits for different/less common layouts.
SP is the best for the ease of creating a GB and adding additional kits, but I don't really want this set with DCS caps (and I don't think there are many fans of DCS anyway)

Some of the kits I would like to make for it would be one for the blue accents (the blue keys in the pictures would all be optional), a 40% kit, numpad, non standard bottom row, and maybe an international kit

So please let me know what you think

Update 2:

The profile of the keys will be Cherry, I hope to work with the manufacture to match the colors as close as we can.
The Windows logo will hopefully be the Windows version 1.0 logo, unless not at all possible, then I will use the Windows 8 logo.
Font will be Cherry

List of different kits:
- Base kit
- Color kit
- Non standard layout kit
The non standard kit will support HHKB, 40%, and I have plans to add G80-1800 support.

Please let me know if there's anything people really need or want to change.
I will post updated mocks whenever I can

Update 1:

Ok everyone I have made some new mockups. I personally really like the RGB mods, but I can understand that not everybody does, or will want them. So I have pulled them from the base set.
I've also added mockups for a number pad, ISO kit, Tsangan kit, 40% kit, RGB kit, and a kit with blue accents.
As of now the colors being use are those used by Signature Plastics with ABS plastic.
Dark grey = GSZ
Light grey = GTA
Blue = BBQ

As I said before I would really like this set to be produced in Cherry profile, but have no plans on running a GMK GB myself (but if someone wants to handle that part, let me know).
greath said that I should maybe ask Bunnylake to see if he could possibly be interested in running it in the future GB with his new keycap partner JTKeycaps. But before I do that I would like to have everything all set and ready.
If Cherry profile is not an option I'd still like to have the set made in SP DCS profile since it's the closest we would be able to get to Cherry. But I might also hold a poll for that, if we get there.

I feel like it could work in the future, but Dolch is overdone IMO.

It is kinda like a blue Dolch or Midnight.  Also reminds me of Pulse.

It's not bad.  :)

I'm definitely down with the blue accents. It does seem like a Pulse Dolch. I would be all over this.

I think the 3-way color scheme is a great idea, and of course the Dolch-like colors are really cool.  However, I think the RGB legends really clash with the rest of the set.

So what profile were you planning to make this in?

Yeah there has been a lot of Dolch as of late, but I've had this in my head for too long and really wanted to share it

It is kinda like a blue Dolch or Midnight.  Also reminds me of Pulse.

Thanks! :)
It's true it does have a Dolch Pulse thing going on

Beautiful set. Please make it... next year. My wallet already needs CPR.  :))

I have no idea when this would run (if it runs). But yeah with all the great sets going right now, I'm also a bit broke (or will be) :p

I think the 3-way color scheme is a great idea, and of course the Dolch-like colors are really cool.  However, I think the RGB legends really clash with the rest of the set.

I like it, but I can see how some people might not. As I said before I would love to have a few extra key kits, but with GMK that can be hard

So what profile were you planning to make this in?

I'm not sure yet. I know I don't want it in DSA or SA. I would love to have it done in Cherry profile but I'm not sure if that will be possible

Ohhhh this looks nice !!!

I like the 2nd kit I feel like the 1st one has too many colors.  I actually would prefer the 2nd kit to have regular colour Esc key too.  :P

Though regardless it still looks great.

So you don't want to go with SA eh?  Is it because too many SA kit lately?  Or don't like the retro look?

Have you ever consider SA with Filco double shot style arrangements, so it's almost all flat profile.

SA with 2-2-3-3-3-3.

Also refer to this for profile explanations:  https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=71484.0

Pictures:  https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53800.0

It also sounds like this:

Haha maybe I'm biased because I don't see many uniform SA or Filco SA arrangement around.

But either way good choice on the color !  :thumb:

EDIT:  Nevermind I see that the teal keys are side packs lol.

Honestly I think this is like taking the best attribute of all those keycap sets and combined into one lol.

Now the tricky part would be deciding on profile.

Maybe start a poll?

I like the RBG mods. It makes it different than past sets that share a lot of similarities to it.

Edit: the more I look at it the more I really don't like the RGB mods, especially the Green one.

These are great. You would be a legend if you could get a full 87 key set priced at under $70.

Ohhh nice update !  Though am I the only one that liked the RGB mod?  I thought it adds more color to this set.

And I guess DCS is probably the closest to Cherry profile.

Though I was hoping it can be SA but oh well.  :P

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not a huge fan of them. I feel that the normal RGB colors add some seriousness, however the colors you picked give it more of a playful side. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not what I was going for.
But if enough people really want them I will see about setting up a voting poll or something

[attach=1]

Also on a side note, I wanted to ask people what they thought of the old pre Windows 95 logo?
If possible I would like to have this used for the Win key. But seeing that I would like this set to be made in doubleshot, it would make this very hard to do (hard = expensive)

Love the Set MAR!

Really like the Base Set with Blue accents and Im also leaning towards yes on RGB!
It definitely makes it more colorful tho, so while it somehow really adds to it, I can see how people might prefer the clean minimalistic version.

Would totally love to see BunnyLake & JT Keycaps kicking in on this!
Much classy Colors and well deserves to be done in GMK style quality imo! :thumb:

On a side Note (altho I understand you can cover only so many layout options) I would totally love to see hhkb style support as add on, so R1 |\, R2 Del/Bs , R3 Control as the basics and maybe also split Shift R and Fn.

Does 40% set cover split R shift? If yes it might make sense to combine hhkb with it. If not there is no split Shift R option except for RGB atm?

I like the idea of adding HHKB layout support, and I like the idea of adding it to the 40% even more. Seeing that they have some of the same keys (1.75u shift, 1u Fn, and 1u OS key) and that I'm not sure two separate sets would have enough reach MOQs

Please let me know if I have everything needed
(http://i.imgur.com/jZLuMZ6.png)

I'm also thinking of combining the base, number pad, ISO, and Tsangan kits together. Because like that people will be helping eachother reach MOQs for some of the less demanded (yet important) kits.
Please let me know what you all think of it

Hey Mar,
good to see your set taking shape!
I too find the RGB is what makes that set stand up.
The old windows logo is a nice idea too. But the rather modern menu key conflicts with it then.
(I didn't know Windows looked so much like Mac OS in it early stages, especially in the dialog boxes).
If using the old logo what about an old icon for the menu key as well? Like the MSDOS floppy or the Panel.exe one? My 25 cents :))

Yo Mecano, thanks for the support!
I'm glad to see that other people are liking my RGB mods. But I'm thinking that it might be best to offer them separately for people that don't care for them (or maybe offer the non RGB mods in their own kit  :p )
I guess I can see what you mean by the menu key. But my plan is/was to keep the legends as close to default Cherry legends as possible (but I'll keep an open mind if I can think of something better). I just would really love to see that old Windows logo on some keyset someday ;)

I really like that old windows logo, but I'm also a fan of the new one haha.

As far as the rgb mods, personally I'd be fine with either having them offered separately or having the non-rgb offered separately. :)

As far as the mod colors, my main concern with them was that the blue and the green lettering wouldn't stand out very much on the dark gray key (the blue especially).  But it could also look really good. It's one of those things that's hard for me to judge just from a mockup though. I guess I won't know until I can hold one in my hands and look at it.

I really have no idea what Windows key will be used yet, but as I said I would like to use the old one just because I've never seen a set with it.

For the RGB mods I get what you're saying about there not being enough contrast with the key and legend color. But with still sticking to the RGB colors (and still using SP's ABS colors) I guess I could switch from a VCS Green to a VCM, the BDH Blue to the BFP(, and I think the Red should be OK the way it is). They are both slightly lighter versions of the same color, so they should help provide better contrast for the legends. These types of things can be hard to judge until you have a key in hand

Looks awesome MAR! =)
Glad you like the idea of adding hhkb support to the 40% set and stoked you made the mockup that quick, so thx a lot man!  :thumb:

If one of the shifts in the 40% set is already 1.75u it definitely works quite nicely to combine them, and should also help to reach MOQ!
(other 40% keys like R1 1u del/backspace are actually a bonus as well for people that like to use backspace above del or the other was around)

The way you updated the 40% set looks pretty much perfect to me except I would prefer the R2 backspace to have symbol rather then text legends. (maybe similar to Hyperfuse R2 del)
I personally prefer using dropped backspace, but the default hhkb layout would be delete, so using a symbol legend kind makes it more neutral/universal for both option too!

Also really like the new win keys add to the set, but I can already see purists preferring the common one I guess.
The 'new' one definitely adds a certain touch to the set and has something modern even slightly futuristic to it that actually matches the style of the set very well imo!

I've always really enjoyed sets that swapped the Windows logo out for an indicator of the set itself (see Toxic, Miami, Raindrop, and many others). That said, a Windows logo will never stop me from purchasing a set, even though I've been using Linux in one flavour or another more than 90% of the time for the past year or so.

E: So long as there's an option to get this set without RGB mods, I'll be 100% in whenever it runs. I'll probably still pick up an RGB pack just to try if it's an option, so I sincerely hope it is.

If you'd like to try running this through GMK, you'd likely want to get a colour ring from them, to see how well the colours they have conform to your vision, and how well they work together. GMK buys tend not to be successful if they have a bunch of child packs, so the best thing to do that way would be to combine everything into one large pack, perhaps with a second colour pack (maybe the colour splash and RGB mods?). That way everyone subsidizes the ISO people, 40% people, 100% people, etc. when they buy the 60% or TKL base.

If you end up running it through PMK/SP, you have a bit more freedom as stuff will be a little less expensive. You'll probably still want to get a colour ring though, for similar reasons as above.

I'm not sure how JTK will work as we're still in the first buy from that group, probably your best bet there is to ask Bunny. Just know that JTK is probably booked for a little while, as Bunny has another 2 or 3 sets he wants to run through them, and there will be fierce competition for the next sets after that as well.

Yeah I think I could use the same symbol as the one used in the Hyperfuse set. I'll have to work on it this weekend

For the Windows key; the purists should keep their mouths shut, seeing that this is the most purest Win logo they could get. Windows version 1.0!
That said, I would only use it if the set was produced by SP or JTK. Otherwise I would stick to the Windows 8 logo.

I've followed the thread and seen the windows logo stuff, as someone that uses PC at home and Windows/Ubuntu at work having a non-windows icon or option is always nice.

As I was just telling FoC_Tow the “custom” OS key would only be used if the set is being produced by SP or JTK. If that's that case I guess an optional OS key could be made for non Windows users.

As I was saying already the non standard Windows keys are only if the set is made by SP or JTK. The thing that inspired me to make this set would look really stupid on the OS key, so I don't really have anything else to use yet (but I'll keep thinking).

If it's possible to have this set made by GMK I'll plan on getting a color ring, but I think for a bit extra they can do some custom colors too. If it's made by SP I really hope that the colors on http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/ marked as “Signature Plastic ABS” are correct because that's what I've been basing everything off of so far (but to be on the safe said I should also get a color ring). And I have no idea what color options JTK will offer yet.

After talking to livingspeedbump a bit about all the wok he's put into his Jukebox set. I think I'll be doing what you have also suggested. I'll be putting the Base set, number pad, ISO, and Tsangan (7u spacebar) kit into one big base set. Then have the RGB and Blue kits put together as the Color kit. And then have the 40%, HHKB, and any other nonstandard kits put together. Like this I will be able to have only 3 deals and will have a better chance a reaching MOQs

I'll have to send Bunny a message as soon as I can (hopefully today if I find the time to do it) before the next year of JTK is already planned out ;)

That classic windows key is awesome looking and I would love to see it transferred over to this set especially consider it's something fresh and at this point unique to these custom key sets. Either way it's a great looking set.

tooling probably doesn't exist to doubleshot the old win logo, meaning that would up the cost of this group buy.  however, once the tooling is done once, it would be available at no cost for future group buys!  that was one of the principles behind the SP cherry legend group buy.

Hello everyone, I'm sorry for the lack of updates these past few days. I've been very busy with other things.
But I would like to share the new renders I made of how the kits should be composed (might still change a bit). I'll update the original post with them and some more information as soon as I have a chance

Looks great!

I think DCS is fine. I don't think I've ever heard someone say "I love Cherry profile, but hate DCS."  They are very similar.

With the recent release of the Pok3r, many GON 60's, arrival of many CtrlAlt 60's, and hopefully soon arrival of many GH 60's, I think you should include some sort of 1.25x Fn key. This could be "Fn", blank, or some cute logo for the set. Could be in that nice contrasting blue you have there.  Just a suggestion.

If it's NOT produced in the next 3 months, I'll probably buy a set. My wallet is hurting from Hyperfuse and Triumph Adler.

Ok everyone I'm sorry for not updating as often as I wanted to, but it's for good reason. I've been working on some nicer looking mockups (should be ready soon), and also talking with some GH members that have run successful GBs in the past.

I have concluded that if I really want Cherry profile for this set, it will have Cherry profile!
I was thinking of maybe using DCS if Cherry was going to be too complicated to do. But this set will look it's best only if Cherry profile is used, so that what it will be.

If possible, the set is going to use the first Windows logo (version 1) for the Win key. If the manufacturer can't do any custom legends I will revert back to the Windows 8 logo.

As of now (and if we have enough demand) the non standard layout kit will support HHKB, 40%, and I was thinking of adding G80-1800 support. Please let me know if there are other non standard layouts that might have more demand (and if you ever see any missing keys in my mockups)

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I will do whatever is needed to for it to happen.
If the set needs to be put on hold until we have enough demand, it will, as long as the set is made in Cherry profile.

As far as I know we don't have enough for GMK MOQ, and JTKeycaps is not taking requests for now.
So until then let's make this set as great as we can, and build up some hype for it (to reach MOQs)

I like the set because it reminds me of a cyan dolch, which I was working on, but abandoned, so if it does go to GMK, I think this would end up being the same base color as Dolch, which would be awesome IMO.

The biggest problem with the ErgoDox is that it seems that everyone has a different layout, so to find one that everyone would buy is going to be hard. But I'm open to suggestions  :)

If this gets run with GMK, ergodox will very likely not make MOQ. It's been tried, and failed pretty miserably. Running with JTK might be possible, but that's definitely a ways off.

Ergodox sets tend to do best as sets of blanks, so that nobody has to worry about matching their layout.

i would suggest an ergodox add-on that consists of icons and blanks - maybe half-and-half? ergodoxians know we have to take what we can get, since we are often forgotten in group buys. there is no way to provide a ergodox add-on set that will be able to handle all the possible variations of keymaps out there.

here is my layout - probably not the most universal, but i think this layout will be 90% compatible with most layouts

For Ergodox, mods should always be either blank  or generic symbols (like the honeycombs in the Carbon set)

I'll have to see how many people would really be interested in a blank ErgoDox addon on for this set, because even if blank that is still a lot of keys that can only be used for that layout.
Not saying there will not be an ErgoDox addon, but I'm also not saying there will be  ;)

I'm using a modified version of Bunny's mockup (from the JTK GB) for this, and used what he had on it. I will use whatever tooling the manufacture has for those keys. So it could be Ctrl or Control and same thing for Scroll lock

Yeah the Base set is the only mockup I've had time to update so far, the others should be updated soon.

Right now it should support 40%, HHKB, 1800, and 75% layouts. Please let me know if I'm missing any keys (some keys might be part of base set) for these layouts, and if there are any other layouts that should be added (but nothing that needs lots of extra keys).

Yes, GMK might be tricky because of the custom colors it will require and their MOQ of 250, JTK/Bunny are not taking any custom orders as of now, SP DCS is also an option.
Once we know what the final set and kits will be comprised of, it will be easier to build a real interest check and approximate how many orders we could potentially get.

Ergodox...

I'm also an ErgoDox user (only for gaming) and would like to include it, but I think it would require more extra keys than I would like to add to the non standard layout kit. If we can find enough interest for it I will add them in a heartbeat.

If anyone can think of other non standard layouts that can be added to the non standard layout kit please let me know (if possible, only layouts that require only about 10 or less extra keys)

I believe that GMK will do custom colours only with a much higher MOQ -- the Triumph Adler set dealt with this issue. The original MOQ was 1000 sets, but Intelli78 was able to negotiate down to 500, which is still a huge number of sets. There might be more relevant info in the TA IC thread.

Don't count on seeing it this summer, but the plan is for it to be made.
Right now I would still like to add to the non standard layout kit. Then I'll need to make some "final" mockups of everything, to be able to really see what kind of interest we can get for it.
Once we know about how many people are going to want it, we'll be able to workout the details with a manufacturer.

Right now I would still like to add to the non standard layout kit. Then I'll need to make some "final" mockups of everything, to be able to really see what kind of interest we can get for it.
Once we know about how many people are going to want it, we'll be able to workout the details with a manufacturer.

This not happening right away helps right now with the wallet but I love this set. Can't wait for it to get made.

Hi guys I'm sorry for not giving many updates as of late, but I've been way too busy with life and work.
I still really want to see this set come to life, and I've worked on the mockups.

Here you can see the latest versions of all kits.

Please let me know if there are any missing keys (or ones that you'd like to see added). As of now the non standard kit can support JD40, HHKB, 1800, and 75% layouts. Please let me know if there are any other layouts that you would like to see added, within a limit of about 5 extra keys. Sorry for those that wanted an ErgoDox option, it will not be possible as of now since I don't think there will be enough demand for it (I would like one for myself).
I'm also thinking of adding the color kit to the non standard kit. It would allow to simplify things and give better chances to both kits. So please let me know what you think.

I also really would appreciate your help on spreading the word about this set. Until we have enough demand for it, it will never be able to see the light of day

this will have to go through JTkeycaps if you want the cherry keycaps, but I assume you will since you are using their basic mockup-outlines as well

Also why are there 1.25 <> keys?

Is there a way to add LED windows keys?

If the manufacture that is used offers them, I will be sure to make some available.

Also why are there 1.25 <> keys?

Just after starting this thread, I asked Bunny if it would be possible to have JTK manufacture the set. He told me that as of now they were not taking any orders, but that maybe someday in the future he might be open for custom GB orders. He was also very nice and let me use his template to make some better looking mockups.
The 1.25u > and ? keys are for the JD40 layout.

Yeah, any update on the profile of this set? I may have missed it in a previous post as well.

Still aiming for Cherry, but if it's not possible I'll have to fall back on DCS

Is there any chance of a DE QWERTZ pack? I would totally buy if it had one.

If we do that, we'll have to add them for other languages too. I don't think there will be enough demand for them to justify the extra cost.

Would really love a 1.25x Fn.  Many, if not most, 60% boards use that.

Thanks!
I almost forgot it. I was going to add in this mockup, but it looks like I added an extra 1u Fn and an extra 1.25u Shift. Those two keys will be replaced by a 1.25u Fn key in the next mockup.

I keep reading this as my name :X

You seem to be very self centered :))
I named the set without thinking too much about it. Later found out that Siso in Portuguese means wisdom, and thought it was cool and a good fit for the set.

Prophetic. We need Sifo keyset. Blue on blue with blue on blue mods.

Now I want to see a blue on blue set

https://www1.massdrop.com/buy/gmk-sky-dolch

Nope not the same one or from me, but both had some inspiration from the SoWaRe and Dolch sets.
I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit bummed out that that set is being made because it will just make it that much harder for my Siso set to reach a MOQ.

Pretty sure that's someone else, personally I like the look of Siso better

Thanks, and I hope more people think like you do

Sorry everyone for the lack of updates lately. But I used to do a lot of the work for this set on my down times at the office. Things at work have been crazy as of late, and I don't have as much time as I used to.
I still plan on working on this set and seeing it come to life, however things will slow down for a bit for now. Additionally, with some people complaining about the quality of GMK going down I would like to see some more sets before finding a final manufacture.

I'll be sure to post as soon as I have something new.
And thanks to everyone for supporting this project  :)

People think GMK is going down? I thought it was just Triumph Adler with the packaging and custom colors. I haven't heard any complaints otherwise.

Yeah, everyone is saying hyperfuse is right back to the old GMK standard. I suspect it was an isolated incident, but you can always wait for Classic Beige to finish if you're really worried.

I'd say JT + Bunny is the best option, cost wise, plus we will be supporting a great effort to have an actual alternative to GMK, at a far better price. Going SP will make this set to be in the cheap echelon of key caps.

You should check if JT already has ISO support, though. And I do not know if it would be a good deal for them to go the MD route, for higher volume of sales. Those new JT molds have to be paid with as long runs as possible.

I really like the colour of this one.  I understand ideally you want Cherry profile.

Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Cherry profile and most of the time they also don't play well with Costar stabilizers (which most of my keyboards are).

So would be amazing if you can maybe run another run of this in SA profile (all row 3 all flat) one either before or after your Cherry profile run.

SA is still widely popular at the moment so I don't suppose it would be too hard to hit the numbers.

But either case I hope this succeeds !  :thumb:

Though to be fair this applies to ALL thick keycaps (Except SA) not just Cherry profile.

So if you want thick keycaps you're limited to using Cherry stabilizer.  Though some people get lucky and they don't notice the grind on Costar stabilized keyboards.

I guess I'm biased because I like Costar stabilizer haha (yes I've tried clipped Cherry stabilizer too, still not the same).

Thicker wire diameters make Cherry a more robust mechanism, and you have the choice to use plate or PCB mounted ones, also their plastic inserts are better designed.

The RGB legends in the original design gives it a very subtle and elegant modernism to the set. Even if it requires to buy additional subsets it would be worth every penny. I just hope that, at the end, the set has been manufactured of high quality materials and processes, ideally GMK or JT. The design deserves it.

The RGB legends in the original design gives it a very subtle and elegant modernism to the set. Even if it requires to buy additional subsets it would be worth every penny. I just hope that, at the end, the set has been manufactured of high quality materials and processes, ideally GMK or JT. The design deserves it.
Agreed

+1... if GMK or JT, I'm in for a set, maybe 2... if SP, meh.

I really would like to get one of these sets if it were either GMK, or JT. Just be sure to get the modifiers legends and some of the number row fixed.

Sky Blue Dolch, I like that. It is more attractive than SISO.

GMK and SP made caps are in different leagues; thus, only GMK made sets may compare in between, in terms of quality and finish. I'd say that only SNES and SISO may be compared if they are made by GMK after all.

Hi guys I've seen that this thread is getting some more interest as of the past few days, so I just wanted to give you all some updates on the IC.

As of now the set and kits are more or less final. However I'm sure somethings might have to change depending on the manufacture.

On the subject of manufactures:
- Signature Plastics DCS could be an option, but most of you (myself included) are not a big fan of their thickness and quality.
- GMK would be nice. However with the number of extra keys for options that would be needed would make hitting MOQ really hard. Also because of work I don't really have the time to take care of a GMK GB by myself.
- JTK; when I started this IC I asked Bunny if it would be possible to run this GB with JTK. He told me that they weren't taking any custom GB orders as of yet. Also JTK is not offering ISO Enter keys in the new Counter Strike and Coca Cola sets, so there would be missing keys.

Just be sure to get the modifiers legends and some of the number row fixed.
I know I need to fix the 1.25u Fn key, but what's wrong with the modifiers and number row?

I'm very interested in this :)
Any chance of 2 blank caps being offered to replace the windows keys?
All depending on who the manufacture will be, but I'm sure we might be able to do something for people that don't use Windows or don't like the Windows version 1 logo.

Sky Blue Dolch, I like that. It is more attractive than SISO.
Sorry the name is here to stay.
It's not why I picked it, but if it makes you feel better Siso means Wisdom in Portuguese. When I was told what it meant, I thought it was fitting with this clean looking set.

So as of now, the IC is still going to be on hold until I have more time or someone to help me with GMK, JTK starts taking custom GB orders, or there is enough interest in SP DCS.

I also wanted to let you guys know that I have already started working on another clean looking set based off of a keyboard from the mid to late 80s. However because of the legends I think it will have to be made with SP DCS dye-sub caps. I hope you'll all like it when it's ready :)

It seems that this will be on hold, unless going with SP, or if someone takes the lead to run a GMK buy. I hope this set ends being a GMK one.

SISO as the name for the set is OK, I just was commenting on someone else remark.

Regarding the legends what I referred to was some comments on JT legends in the debut sets that shown some irregularities.

the colors of this IC its a bit like IC dusk (or dusk its a little like siso) that are 2 IC right now with this colors and IC dusk will be in SA profile, so i hope this will be GMK, or JTK to have my interest  ;)

yeah means wisdom but nobody knows it xD ...will be a teeth keyset  ;D

One reason I think we should try hard for GMK is bc this set would mix well with so many other recent sets:  Dolch, Hyperfuse, Skidata, and maybe even could look cool with TA alphas.

Edit: if you include 2x 1.25 u blanks that would take care of non-Windows and 60% Fn key users (well I guess not people who are both but maybe that's a quite small group?).

Yeah, JTK should jump on this, seriously. It's more interesting (in my most humble of opinions) than what they have going on right now, though their way of promoting those sets is quite interesting.

JTK is not taking custom orders just yet, they have said so already, it appears they have their own pipeline of upcoming colors and sets, that put them out of consideration for special sets like this.

Yes, I am aware of this. Which I find to be a little silly, since I don't find their current sets all that stimulating, especially since they have no community feedback from what I can see, unlike traditional cap GBs. But hey, it is what it is. Hyperfuse is pretty cool and a classic CTRL ALT set, so they might run that eventually. Maybe they are limited on colors for now.

I think this set would do well if they ran it, but the procedure might be a complicated mess.

If you want it to be GMK and can't run it yourself, why not go with Massdrop? I didn't read further back so maybe I missed some reason as to why, but I believe they can help you run the set with an even larger audience and have a greater chance at hitting MOQ.

Nice set, I REALLY like that it has the ability to swap capslock and ctrl.  So many sets have a larger control option but no small capslock.. I do that with all my boards so it's nice to have keycaps that match.
It's a longshot but of course I've got to ask.. Linux key? Pretty please?

Massdrop is swell in my book! Their shipping might be a bit high and I sometimes question their prices versus the original prices of products that were/are originally on TaoBao, but they're a pretty okay business and are a good place to go if you don't want to handle all the overhead in certain aspects of a group buy, I'd imagine.

At the end of the day this being on MD with always have more exposure seeing as they send out newsletters and have other drops that may bait people into seeing this. I personally like MD and haven't had any real issues.

GMK and MD would be my vote for doing this. Keeping it just on here and being GMK will be a challenge. I can't think of any GMK sets that passed  MOQ this year that have not had a storefront, but just a normal post and made MOQ.

Ok guys, I still have nothing new to report. But I did want to let you know that MD will be a last resort.
I would also like to wait and see if JTK opens up to community buys in 2016. Because GMK doesn't have the right colors for this set and would require custom colors from them and I wouldn't be able to get my Windows v1 logo for the OS keys. And SP's DCS isn't what I want for this GB.

This is one of my dream sets, and I'm willing to take the time it needs to be done right.

On a side note. I'm working on a new project that will probably be done with SP DCS dye-sub caps. I'm still working on all the legends, so it's still a work in progress. But please come and have a look, and give me your feedback.

I'm super happy to see take on a no compromises approach to your keyset, man. That's passion right there! I definitely want to see this set in a true blue Cherry profile with that sick Windows 1.0 logo on the OS key. Throw backs and vintage stuff is amazing. It's a big reason I love my FAME much, as silly as it is, for the vintage Samsung sticker it has on it before they went to the modern logo.

Good luck on this, man, and your dyesubbed DCS keyset sounds neat too!

I was working and posting mockups almost 3 months before SkyDolch was announced anywhere.

There are also a few differences with SISO and SkyDolch.
SISO uses a lighter gray for the mod keys, has RGB (legend) mods, Windows 1.0 logo for the OS keys, had planned for for blue accent keys from the start

SISO uses a lighter gray for the mod keys, has RGB (legend) mods, Windows 1.0 logo for the OS keys, had planned for for blue accent keys from the start

Sky Dolch is amazing, so any comparison is a compliment.  It also doesn't look like Sherryton is going to run it again anytime soon so I'd say you have the all-clear if it's something you've been considering.

he's running it again right now.

The 1.25u Shift should have legend and icon to be consistent with the rest of the shift keys.
