All my cables use high quality MDPC, Bitspower, or Kobra HD sleeving unless you specify you want paracord and, aside from paracord cables, all use 24/28 AWG wires giving you a nice, higher gauge wire for power delivery.  I refuse to use low cost, low quality alternatives like PET sleeving since I want you to have a high quality cable that lasts.

If you got a Hardcore White MX CC Skull in the latest Clack sale you're willing to part for at cost or near cost or have one you're willing to trade, let me know.  I have tons of goodies to trade for them and more being made.

I've been experimenting with making my own key cap pullers for a little while now.  I've wanted a wood puller for a while, but was never happy with the ones I saw being sold.  As such, I've turned a few for myself and a some to sell off to help me continue my experiments with keyboards and key cap making and the like.

 So without further ado:

For Sale or Trade

Key Cap Pullers/

These are handmade and tested to make sure they'll hold up.  The wire is springy and flexible like any other wire key cap puller.  Just slide the wires over the cap, twist it to the side to catch the corners of the cap, and rock it back and forth to carefully pull the cap off like you would with any other wire key cap puller.

  • Bloodwood key cap pullers (more info on Bloodwood).  Bloodwood is a resilient, dense, and very hard wood.  Asking $28 + shipping since Bloodwood is an expensive and a very hard to work with wood.

More

  • Verawood/Argentine Lignum Vitae key cap puller (more info on Verawood).  Verawood is a resilient, dense, and very hard wood.  Asking $27 + shipping since Verawood is a moderately expensive wood.  There's a slight color shift in the picture due to the evening sun and it's a little greener in color in person.

  • Black Palm key cap puller (more info on Black Palm).  Black Palm is an interesting wood since, technically, it's a monocot, making it more in line with reeds and grasses, bamboo, banana, corn, etc.  Asking $27 + shipping since Black Palm is a moderately priced wood and it's very difficult to work with given the fact that it's a dual density wood.  There's a slight color shift in the picture due to the evening sun. There is also a small scratch on it from the lathe tools that I didn't get a chance to sand out.

I also have handles made in Birch and Maple and can make some up in Walnut and several others.  Let me know and I can get you some pics and make one up for you.  Key cap pullers should be paid with as a gift or buyer pays Paypal fees.

  • Custom sleeved 6' USB A to USB mini B cable.  Sleeved with Bitspower and paracord.  Asking $25 shipped CONUS.

  • Custom sleeved 4' 10" USB A to USB mini B cable.  Sleeved with ModDIY sleeving.   Asking $21 shipped CONUS.

  • Custom sleeved 4' USB A to USB mini B cable.  Sleeved with ModDIY sleeving.  Asking $20 shipped CONUS.

  • MDPC colors available for custom length cables.

Parts are also here for removable Filco cables.  Let me know if you'd like one.

I also have some ever changing colors for 2.5' cables.

I'll also have more key cap pullers added in the future and some sleeved USB cables for sale.

All prices aside from key cap pullers include Paypal or Amazon Payment fees.

Wanted (trades only)

  • CCnG base set and modifiers

Price amended to include shipping.  I can also do custom sleeved USB cables like some of the ones I'm making seen here.  Shipping will be included if bought with a keycap puller.

And I would have gladly traded it for your switch top tool.  If you decide you need one or want any other colors, I'm sure we could work something out.  I'll also be adding a 6' green, yellow, and carbon fiber one shortly.

Like Jocelyn said, the white, purple, and red/blue are 3', the multicolor, red/black, and red/silver/black are 4'.  I'll also be adding a green, yellow, and carbon fiber cable at 6'.  I can also make some custom length or colors.

oooooo~ I have my tower sitting on the floor so I'll probably need longer cables ~ If you later make a purple one in 6' or so, I'll be sure to grab that one ~

I should be able to get one done in purple for you this week.  I actually have enough of the purple on hand to do a couple cables.

That'd be awesome too :) BUTTTTTT Don't do it yet (at least for mine) because I'm going to have to do a detachable cable mod for my Filco first!

Man, I want to get my Filco a pretty cable but I don't know if I can do this detachable cable mod... but that's another discussion :)) Do you by any chance have the parts to make a cable for a Filco???

Ah I see I see ~ Not a problem. If you ever do though, that'd be great, otherwise I'll let you know as soon as I'm done with my mod or just decide to go with it anyway :)

I now have a scale, so I can tell you what the cheapest shipping method will be.  The cables themselves range in the 1-1.2oz range for the 3-4' cables.

Do you have a cable that is black with a little red for accent, like about 5% red? My Kinesis is black with 4 (I need 4 more red home row keys) It's bold. A black cable with red accents might just be perfect. Or a red with black (60% red 40% black)?

I don't have any, but I have been looking at some sleeving off of Taobao that matches what you want.  I'd have to charge a little more for it due to agent fees and shipping and the lead time will be a couple of weeks, but the quality should be pretty decent to good.

Here's the sleeving I'm referencing:

I could also get some paracord that matches, but I do run the risk of the paracord being too small.  Paracord seems to be rather fickle in sizing.

If either of those sounds good to you, let me know and I'll get something going.

Looking forward to it.  In the meantime, it looks like I should start trying to find another Taobao agent and should search the depths of Taobao for anything else I might need.

Sorry, I really wish there was something I needed right now, but there isn't.  I might hit you up down the road if I want some artwork for laser engraving or custom printed key caps, but right now the only thing artistic I really need is someone who can carve wax well so I can get some more interesting molds made up for my attempts at home made key caps.

Red switch with a Clear spring in the housing.  My Ergo Clears have 62g and 65g springs in them and the ones for my GH60 have 67g springs.

I think I'm going to hold onto the Reds for now though.  I forgot they're still listed in my OP.

You mean USB A to USB B?  I don't have the housings or connectors for USB B on hand.  I can do them, but they will cost more since I'll have to special order connectors and housings.

I have not.  Didn't even know it existed to be honest.  I had only seen high visibility reflective paracord.  I rarely use paracord since I don't like how it holds up over time.  I prefer to use more durable sleeving materials.

I am doing some experimenting in more custom colors though.  I'm working out ways to have some more custom colors that you can't find elsewhere.  So far it looks like I might be able to do a few pastel colors, but we'll see what I figure out.

For you, I make special deal or trade  ;).  I'm not a huge fan of paracord, so I generally don't make anything with it unless I think I can do something fun with it.

I know the part numbers for the Molex housings, but I don't have the necessary tools to do the crimps.  I could do them with pliers, but I'd rather do them properly.  In the future I might do them, but for now, I'd talk to TJCaustin (mimic-cables) about making you one.  Now if you weren't afraid of direct contact and soldering them yourself, I could do a cable for you that bypasses the terminal on the Filco.

That's my biggest gripe with paracord.  They last fine, but there are colors (usually 3+ color mixed) that have a narrower inner diameter and range from more difficult to impossible to sleeve.

I like those survival bracelets and have kicked around getting one of the jigs to make them (not that it's a needed item, but so I can mass produce easier).

Also, nubbs, you have a PM inc.

Yeah, it's a massive pain with paracord.  I've even had 7 strand single color that was too skinny.  I made a little paracord tool out of brass to help with some of the more difficult sleeving, but it doesn't always help.

I'm honestly not sure how much the jig would help.  I made the one you see there incredibly quickly without a jig.  It's just making sure you don't mess up and double up and making sure you get it tight enough.  I'm sure someone who's good at it could spit out a complete on without a jig in well under 5 minutes.  The hardest part is getting it started and finishing it.  Definitely a lot quicker than sleeving and soldering cables.  It's a pretty easy way to make up any losses you might face from incorrectly sized paracord.

Also, looking for a Hardcore White, Octopink, or P1 Purple MX Skull CC.  Will buy at cost or work out a reasonable trade for one.  I don't believe in the massive mark up and flipping that some people do for CCs, but I will pay a small premium to cover shipping to you and to me and am more than willing to work out trades for things like cap pullers, wrist wrests, and sleeved cables.

And a teaser for a GH60 sized (11.5") Curly Maple wrist wrest I'll have up for sale/trade soon:

Nubs I know you posted some new wood handle but I don't know where the thread is.....are you going to be selling those soon?

The Black Palm and black and red dyed maple ones?

If you'd like one of them, I can order more wire and make it up.  I just haven't really wanted to spend money on the materials for pullers since the wire and epoxy are not cheap and I haven't had may people hit me up about them.

Just  full disclosure, the Black Palm has some chip out on it.  I can probably fix it up a little with some dark wood putty, but it's something that's very very hard to avoid with the wood, especially with the tools I have.  It's finished pretty smooth, but it's not 100% perfect.

Nubs pullers are more than just aesthetically pleasing. The little extra weight and length makes pulling caps much easier in contrast with cheap plastic ones. Not that it was ever "hard" to do, but I can do it much quicker and more pleasantly with his puller. Plus, the wires are perfectly spaced.

Almost never since the sleeving I use is rather expensive (~$6 per 6' cable) and margins aren't very big.  I may, on rare occassion, do one in paracord or that's an experiment that sells for less (like my PS2 cable up for sale), but outside of that, no.  If I sold for much less, I'd basically be giving my labor away for free.

a mini review about nubbs and his products

so this morning

i received a beautiful puller from nubbs

i have gushing initial impressions about the quality, workmanship, packaging and service

i cant speak if he does this for domestic orders, but as i am international, the puller was sent in a box, not a bubble mailer, adding to the expense it cost him to ship my puller, but ensuring it got to me safely, the puller its self was also packaged very securely with lots of bubble wrap and included a small gift.

upon fighting my way through the bubble wrap, i was stunned and very happy with the quality of his craftsmanship, it really is a beautiful item he has clearly taken his time with and put a lot of care into, and it really shows in the end result, it is a beautiful and very functional item and something i will always hang on to, the finish is outstanding and i have no doubt it will hold up and serve me well for a long time to come.

and on to nubbs himself, every dealing i have had with this man has always been a pleasure, he is friendly and professional at all time, and will always do his best to accommodate any requests you may have.

in summary, please deal with this man, he puts a lot of work, time and consideration into everything he offers and it is well worth the very reasonable advertised pricing, i would not only recommend the products, but also the man behind them

Thanks for those kind words Bunny.  I try my best to make and sell something I'd be proud to use and ship it in a way that ensures its safety.  Every puller I've sent to date has been bubble wrapped and shipped in a box.  I'd rather spend a little more on packaging and shipping to ensure that a product arrives safely than to cheap out and have a product that may or may not arrive how I shipped it.

I'm glad you like the puller.  I do put time and care into making something I'd be happy to use.  I've scrapped more than a few handles that I just was not happy with the result on.  It's also good to hear that it got to you safely and relatively quickly without any customs bothers.

Black Palm is a &%*#$ to turn.  It's a weird mixture of ridiculously hard and ridiculously soft and using a wood stabilizer doesn't help from what I've read.  No matter how hard you work at getting it smooth, you always have some chip out unless you use a filler or wood putty...which can change the look.  So the one I made does have some small imperfections in it, though they're not really noticeable unless you look closely.

I could really use a custom cable for a pair of headphones.  A very short (4-6 inches) cable, one end 1/8" male, the other 1/4" female phone jack.

Basically, this with a cable between the two ends:

I have this exact adapter, came with my headphones.  The problem is, the combination of the 1/4" male plug on the headphones and the adapter exerts a lot of leverage on a tiny little 1/8" stereo plug.  So much so, that my son stepped on the headphone cable and ripped the headphone port right off my laptop motherboard...

Anyways.  The name of the game is strain relief.  Maybe even a right-angle 1/8" stereo plug, for additional peace of mind?  Probably sell a few of these to the headphone thread guys as well.

Got to love how quickly stuff ships within state.

I've looked into it Greystroke, but it's a little pricier of an investment if you want to have good audio quality cables.

I'm guessing you're referencing the cost?   I haven't sat down and calculated the cost, but with my income, I know it's not worth it for me.  You have to buy high quality wire, buy audio grade silver solder, high quality connectors, and so on.  It's not cheap.

And I'd be willing to bet that there's not a huge markup on those cables.

Not really, no.  The higher end ones are the worst.

what are the chances of me getting a 2' flat black, no heatshrink, low profile connector, coiled cable that will ship to canada?

I LOVE your other designs, but I'm looking to get blank keycaps and a simple cable fits the scheme much better.

I've done some yellow cables in the past, but I'm not the biggest fan of yellow sleeving since it tends to have some bleed through issues since it's not generally fully opaque.  There is some sleeving I could use that should be a little better than the last yellow cable I did.  Alternatively, I could do one with paracord, though I try to avoid it whenever possible.

You'll have to explain further what you mean by low profile.  PM me more and we can talk about it.  And for coiled, how long of a coil you want does affect things, but, again, that's something that can be worked out via PM.

Currently it looks like I have 2-2.5' sleeving in white, carbon fiber grey, purple green, black, and some paracord colors.  I should have some coming in for yellow and a blueish color too.  I'd have to calculate pricing again since I haven't sold a ton of them, but they're $15 or under I believe.

I already sold the one I have on hand, but I can make another once more USB A ends come in.  Were you wanting paracord like in the picture you have there or the nicer sleeving I generally use?

So far the ideas are:

- Haiku.

- Best non-traditional use of a cable or cap puller.

- In a non-traditional hole that's not the pooper and probably not any other bodily orifice.

Well, I anxiously look forward to seeing how it looks with your Phantom.   I just wish I had taken some proper pics of the maple puller before I sent it off.

And I have dropped the prices on the key cap pullers.  They're not cheap to make and they take a bit of time to do, so I'm not making much on them.

I don't think so, mainly because it's not really something I'm doing all the time, just intermittently.  That and I think you have to be in the positive to be a vendor.  I'm pretty much breaking even after buying stuff to make the pullers and cables and for other experiments.

I haven't turned a profit on the pullers, I'm in the red on them.  Most of the money from the cables has gone back into more sleeving, cables, and different kinds of connectors.  I've only made ~$100 profit on the cables that hasn't gone back into cables and most of that has gone into other projects.  So I'm really only breaking even.

In any case, what does it matter?

I mean, I do the same thing with chainmaille. Any money I make on a necklace goes into buying more silver for more necklaces, but that's still a net gain. I took 40 bucks, bought silver, made a necklace, sold it for 200. Now that 200 is 200 worth of silver rings, but that's still a profit of a pound of silver. Whether or not it stays in the same form of currency doesn't have an effect on it being net gain.

Your selling cables has allowed you to buy more cable materials, so your net gain is cable materials.

And no, I don't think it does matter. The line between hobbyist and vendor is a blurry one, but that line isn't "profit" so it's a moot point. I think the line comes down to output. If you're making a couple keycap pullers and cables a week, there's no way you're a vendor. You're doing it as a hobby, and making a couple bucks.

If you're putting out 20 cables a week, well, we might have to define our terms a bit more.
