Title: "Double-Shot" Wooden Keycaps (now with give away!)
Post by: yehoshuaf on Sat, 13 September 2014, 09:38:44
I'm working on cncing a wooden dsa profile keycap set, but I'm in need of a spacebar model. Just the top, really. Can you guys help?

I'd prefer one that is level and 6.25x, but I can adjust the size.

Here are pictures of the project to encourage help. :D

The letters are engraved using a V-bit, and then wood putty is smooshed inside. After it dries I sand, clear coat, and polish.

Is that a wooden case as well?

This makes me wish I had a CnC machine.  All my wood caps have been done by hand.

@Tindron, why yes it is. It's a custom keyboard made from cedar.

Wow that is awesome!

Do you need like a 3D render of a spacebar? I will look, but these are some 3D models of cherry MX caps. You might want to talk to the OP about the files.

In order to help motivate the community to produce a freely available DSA-style 6.25 spacebar model, I have created the **** button. A wooden engraved keycap. Whoever produces a model that meets with my satisfaction will be the new owner of the **** button. No shipping fees required. :)

So you just need a dsa spacebar... ?

I've got one if you're still looking.
