GMK 3Run and a perfectly matching USB cable.  these smaller GMK trays sure don't keep things in place very well...

He is doing well!  I miss him around these parts too, but he's happy doing what he's doing these days.  ^-^

In a way, he traded the keyboard hobby for film photography, which I approve of.  ;D  If you're curious and not already doing so, you should follow his blog/instagram.  :)

BS caps do have pretty thin sides so that makes sense.

Good to know that some BS clacks are like that, I hadn't seen one before.

1. I got this KC64 for an impressive 23$, refurbished, looks brand new with white LED backlights and PBT caps and gateron browns. Only problem is that it has a 2x left shift, a 1x right shift, a 1x ctrl, and two 1x fn keys. that 2x left shift is a real problem. but damn 23$ i cant complain--forshadowing

edit: rofl l can see why this board was 23$, it is garbage, holy **** haha

The spacebar and entire bottom is indeed unusable on any modern board, it is offset.

You will have to buy mods from EK or Originative. i already have some GMK mod sets (purple, RGB, and CYMK), so it did not bother me. Originative sells GMK spacebars or SP DCS black spacebars work just fine from experience if you want to keep it on the cheap.

As a disclaimer in case anyone wants to buy them off of the ebay lot page which still has 5 available. here is what you have to deal with

1. The caps lock is offset and will not work on a modern OEM board and on custom board you need to resolder the switch
2. The spacebar is offset and can not be used on any other board
3. The Alt, Ctrl, Menu, and Windows Keys for some reason are always pad printed--its something they did on all these boards.
4. ......that does not really matter because the entire bottom row is offset and unless you get creative with your soldering or glue, you must buy mods
5. There is shine on oddly specific keys as these are POS boards, for example WASD on them are pretty much untouched. If shine is a problem for you, well go PBT because you can shine a 200$ GMK set in only months.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
