[IC] PCBs for Rama M10-A and M10-B
« on: Thu, 07 November 2019, 06:41:38 »
Hello!

Would like to check interest for a custom PCB for Rama M10-A and M10-B.

Planned PCB will have:

  • Kailh Hot Swap Sockets
  • RGB LED under each key (not per-key addressable RGB)
  • USB-C (pending prototype fit, M10-A is mirco-usb but looks like USB-C could fit)
  • Stabilizer support for 2U key
  • QMK (and hopefully Via support)
  • Black PCB, white slikscreen, immersion gold
  • Other suggestions people might have.

In addition, I'd like to make brass plates. I think it works a lot better with hotswap when there is a plate. My plan is to have screw holes in the PCB and then 3.5mm standoffs for the plate to screw into. This idea is pending a prototype of course  :D

I don't think this will be a large GB, I'm expecting around 10-15 PCBs. PCBs will be made in China (allpcb) but assembled, QC'ed, and shipped in/from Denmark.

Group Buy will be run 100% at cost. PCBs will be made open source after the GB concludes.

Let me know what you think!

I'm interested in this to revive my M10. Would Via support be possible when there's an official M10 PCB by Wilba? I wonder if there's a conflict of interest; in any case, worth discussing with the developers of Via.

I'd like to reach out to Rama just to give a heads up and ask for a blessing, just so everything is cool. However I don't think it's strictly necessary. The design is from scratch, i'm not using any of Rama's logos or trying to pass it off as a Rama product. I also don't plan to make any money from the GB.

Just my perspective anyway, I don't want or mean to step on anyone's toes.

For sure. Just giving a heads-up is always the right courtesy to provide. :thumb:

I look forward to hearing updates

I'm interested in this too!

Rama is currently offering an M10-C PCB that works with M10-A/B/C: M10-C PCB and should serve as an upgrade.
