This looks interesting, id love to see more of an explanation of the colors you chose and how they relate to the theme, as for your kitting, it looks pretty good, a few things to note, switch the 3u bar out for a 2.75u bar to support alice, and add 2 1.5u code to base to support hhkb, I would also consider changing r3 1.75u ctrl to icon instead of text. Besides that your kitting looks pretty good and I like the design, there are probably a few things you can change for 40s kit, (check kavala 40s or Acadia 40s(no shill intended)) others will probably be able to help you more with that.

The colors were originally based on the starry night sky and all the different colors it comes in (Represented by the red, blue, and yellow) and the grey background, as of course, the night sky behind the bright lights.

I will definitely take these kitting changes into consideration, as I did not notice the 2.75u missing... I will definitely fix that.

Thanks for reading it through!

Kitting looks pretty good.

I would just add a R4 1u generic key (e.g. Code) to the base kit (helps cover oddball layouts in various sizes), as well as change the R3 1.75u Control key to an icon legend (). The 3c spacebar in base should be changed to 2.75c as the usual spacekeys required for Alice/split support are 2c, 2.25c, 2.75c.

Since this is EPBT, if you want to, you can also add 2× 1.5u Super and a second 1u Alt key to the base kit for Mac bottom row support. Those keys could alternatively be added as part of a separate Mac kit; in which case you could give them proper Command/Opt legends, as well as include a R3 1.75u Command key.

You don't need R2 Enter keys in the 40s kit. R3 1.5u Fn and R4 1.25u Shift are also not necessary. I would remove those and replace them with R3 1u and 1.25u generic keys with an icon legend (e.g. >_ or ).

Edit: You may also want to consider moving the 2c, 2.25c and 2.75c spacekeys from base into spacebars and 40s. Spacebar kits are usually cheap with EPBT, and doing this would help keep the price of the base kit at around $100.

I really like the quote you inserted at the beginning of the post! If you haven't finalized on the design of the deskmat yet, any chance you can include the quote at the bottom (or anywhere else) ?

I do have some rough early designs for the deskmats, but I will (hopefully) be working with a deskmat designer who knows a little bit more and can help out with producing them.

I'll be sure to add some proto deskmats pics in the next post update!

Thanks for your support!

Yeah, the International Kit does not cover everything and I will try to work with EPBTs big kitting capabilities to fit most everything I can.

As for a south kit, im not 100% sure. I'll try and let you know when I find out more though.

No. This is my own idea after buying my own telescope at the beginning of the year, and I wanted to debut my designs with a set relating to the outer frontier.

Although the design does take some inspiration from sets like GMK Dualshot and other space themed sets, it isn't a copycat.

I appreciate you reading the IC though!

EPBT FRONTIER POST UPDATE
November 28, 2021

Changed kitting in base, spacebar, and 40s kit.

Added R4 1u Code key, changed Control key to ^ in base kit.

Moved spacebars in base to the spacebar kit and edited their wonky sizes to match Alice and Arisu form factors.

Removed R2 Enters, R3 1.5u FN and R4 1.25u Shift keys in 40s kit and replaced them with R3 1u and 1.25u generic keys ^ and >.

Thanks to y'all who helped out fix these errors.

Next update soon!

Really into the colors, but I don't really get the space vibe from it.

Got inspired by the dark night sky with the beautiful foreground of the stars and planets when I looked through the telescope.

Turns out, this tri-color pattern is quite resemblant of red giants, neutron stars, and yellow dwarf stars.

Thanks for your interest in the set!

Kitting looks really good overall. I have a few suggestions/recommendations, though:

Show Image

The Base kit supports a variety of boards, from 60 to TKL.

The R1 1u Backspace key in the base kit should be changed to Delete.
R1 Delete is required for various 60%, 65%, 75%, 1800 etc. layouts, whereas R1 Backspace isn't really required for anything and can be substituted with Delete.

I think including 2× 1.5u Super and a second 1u Alt for Mac / OG HHKB bottom row users would be more useful than the 1.5u Shift.
The 1.5u Shift can be moved to the 40s kit since some 40s boards use that key, and they're more common than the non-40s boards that use it.
That being said, since you have 1.5u Super keys in the icon kit, you could argue that including them in base isn't necessary. That may well be true. However, I would probably move the 1.5u Shift to the 40s kit regardless.

Show Image

The 40s kit supports many Ortho and 40% boards.

2.25c and 2.75c spacekeys (as well as a second copy of 2c) should be added to this kit, as these sizes are crucial for 40s users. You don't want to be forcing them into also needing to buy the spacebars kit.

This kit could do with a second 1u Ctrl key (as well as a second 1u Alt if you opt not to include it in the base kit).

Show Image

The International kit covers most European layouts.

The R4 ;: key in this kit is in there by mistake. It's not used in any international layouts and should be removed.

Show Image

The Icon kit allows you to change up your modifiers' look.

This kit is missing the second 1u Alt icon key to go with the two 1.5u Super icon keys.

EPBT FRONTIER POST UPDATE #5
April 19th, 2022
Changed manufacturer from ePBT to PBTFans!

ePBT Frontier will now be changing manufacturers to PBTFans.

Even though we are changing manus, Frontier will still stay the same as always. I made this change for a couple reasons:

Most importantly, time. The manufacturing process is very important to me and PBTFans will be able to efficiently deliver this set without delay *currently*. I also made this change because of some shift in the processes of ePBT manufacturing.

Here are some tidbits and info about PBTFans for the uninformed:

Basic Features
Material: PBT/ABS
Legends: designed by Biip
Profile: Cherry
Production Method: Double-shot/triple-shot
Packaging: Plastic sealed with keycap tray
Current production time estimated by KBDFans is about 3 months.

If there are any questions you have about this manu and how it affects Frontier, just ask!  :thumb:

June 19th, 2022
Updated kitting and renders to display PBTFans

PBTFans Frontier now has new high-res kitting and renders to display updated legends, more potent colors, and its new fashion.

There isn't much else in this update, but this is a big moment and we are only inches away from GB. Only a couple more things on the checklist!

EPBT FRONTIER POST UPDATE #7
October 16th, 2022
Updated page to reflect recent updates

After a SUUUPER long time cleaning up the work that got put on hold, PBTFans Frontier is finally approaching GB and is discussing a date as we speak.

I just wanted to pop in and let everyone see the new changes that have been added to the original post. I also wanted to note that our list for planned vendors has declined, as KBDFans will be able to support more regions in the upcoming GB.

I will do my best to be around this GH page as much as possible to answer any more questions and bump this page a couple more times before we finalize everything.

Have a great week everyone, talk again soon!

KBDFans and I agreed to have a smaller international kit and mostly advanced (but smaller) kits in general to lower the overall price of the set. Just trying to keep it affordable for everyone, although it is unfortunate to not be able to include some languages. I believe this will be good for pricing among all other kits though. Thank you for your question!!

Ah! I thought the inspiration for this set was going to be Star Trek: "Space: the final frontier." Coincidentally, the colours also depict uniform colours depicting different departments on board Starfleet vessels: Red for command, yellow for engineering/security, and blue for science/medicine.

Ah! I thought the inspiration for this set was going to be Star Trek: "Space: the final frontier." Coincidentally, the colours also depict uniform colours depicting different departments on board Starfleet vessels: Red for command, yellow for engineering/security, and blue for science/medicine.

I suppose it could be interpreted with a couple different space themes!  :)

EPBT FRONTIER POST UPDATE #8
November 13th, 2022
Status update and sales

Hey guys, I am back here again. I just wanted to give confirmation that this waiting is not all in vain, and things are definitely moving forward.

Status of release: Currently, KBDFans as of two days ago is finalizing molds for the novelty kit. KBDFans also told me this set will be an instock release, and are preparing for it now. The revised original post should now reflect this.

As usual, I only post infrequent (mostly only major) status updates on GH. If you would like more detailed posts as I recieve info straight from the source, please join the discord: https://discord.gg/Q2SCcHFTpV

I wish you all a great week!  ;)
