My two cents:

I think for these keys SP should be the manufacturer.  First off they can do the clear blue key. Second doubleshots provide a much clearer and consistent look than ingrave/infill.  Finally, the price of SP double shots will be half (or less) than qwer keys.  We might not have the white border, but the key will look sharp as hell.

I like the GH molecule idea but that is too much detail for SP Doubleshot or qwer IMO

I think you should also mention this as another reason not to-do the B series: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=32774.msg666277#msg666277

I don't want to bad-talk qwer because they do some really great work, I just think for this set SP makes sense.

here is a more realistic update of what B series would possibly look like

Show Image

there is no doubt this keycaps will be yours seeing the number of people already interested.
I hope SP will be able to  give me a picture of the clear caps they are working on next week (it might not be the exact colour but this will give us an idea of the possible outcome)

What do you guys think of this GeekHack cap?
Show Image

I don't know yet if such design is possible, I'll check with QWERKeys later on

You have really high hopes for QWER

From what I have seen from them they won't be able to get the number portion on the top right keycap properly as their lines are quite thick

Also while the white boarder is cool their B series "double shot" has portion is quite small to work with, long with the white boarder you leave yourself with very little to no room for anything else.

Of course this is just me saying from what I've seen from them in the past maybe their techniques have improved since then but not that I am aware of

B-series looked good on QWERKeys website but I've only seen pictures...
A GeekHack key would add a sort of signature to this set, I understand molecule design is not for DS. Any ideas regarding a simpler design that would suit Double Shot?

BTW what's the cap on your avatar made off i3oilermaker?

B series does look very cool but I think other then their normal stuff ie regular text it still needs work, but I think it's just the limitation of engraved infilled from them

DanGwanG wanted to make his 420 awesome face cap with QWER but sadly they could not produce it in B series for reasons I have stated before

As for i3oiller's avatar that is from WASD it is ABS laser etch

List updated.  We're up to a total of 57 sets.  And a lot of extra crystals...

When it comes to the extra crystals, for those who asked for extras it would be very helpful if I had a specific quantity.  I may send out a few PMs asking a few people for specific numbers.  I will update the list once I get this information.

I would personally much rather sacrifice the white border for a high quality key at a reasonable price, it sounds like SP is the way to go on this

Yeah you are right, should have put Ha instead but i prefer the physical appearence of the k, anyway this will remain concept.
RIP Hk element †
As for the GeekHack signature key, I just understood your propositions (tj an Xero) while skimming throw this thread, I suspect my brain froze for no reasons
I like it, Ge or Ge+H or Ge+Ha...maybe one key is enough (each additional key adds 45dollars legend charge)

What do you all think?

I would definitely be in for a set or more than one if that is what it'll take to get 8 or 12 "meth" keys. What are the chances of you wanting to sell the meth keys individually, or a WASD set, or even all the profiles and the possibility to do an entire 1x size keys set?

Please put me down for;

4 Sets (Greens)
12 (Crystal Blues)

Thank you.

(PS., Depending upon how the Crystal Blues turn out, I would order much more when I see the pre-production models).

We are hoping to get the crystals made in a color that is similar to this:                 (see below)

The light blue transparent color is what we are looking for.  It can even be a little more color / less transparent than the color of that CC.

What we are looking for and what we can get are two different things...Unless I am mistaken SP is our only lead on making such a cap, and we will have to wait and see what they can provide.

Don't have too high expectations for these crystal caps guys, SP don't have the talented and skilled gnomes ClickClack has..!
I personnaly hope they will be cloudy enough for the stem to be masked. Even if they're not, gentle sanding from the inside would probably do the trick.

Not sure if you're taking in ideas, but some Los Pollos Hermanos keys might be pretty cool

If you mean the logo with the chickens, I'm not sure that wouldn't match the sober look of the keys, plus this is impossible to produce with double shot.

Same here,
I think what makes look them cheap is the translucent aspect, if that's what we get I'll try something to make mine cloudy.
Anyway we don't have other options and these will match the concept so I guess it's already a good news (we can consider ourselves lucky because this material is new for SP)

Quick question: are the Br and Ba caps planned to be for row 1?
I'd be fine with that, but looking at the title of Breaking Bad it would be nice to place the keys on the keboard the same way. Like for example Br on Insert (row 1) and Ba on End (row 2). I'd prefer that. Anyone with me? ^^

That was the exact layout I was planning on using, actually.  I would ask Batmann or i3oilermaker for specifics on that question... they are handling the design/manufacture of these keycaps.

At the beginning of this project my idea was to mimic the generic of the show saying one key row 1 and one key row 2 and cristals row 2 besides Ba.
But since we plan to add a geekhack signature this might not be relevant anymore.
I'll make 3 more keys for the signature Ge, H and Ha (we'll keep 2) and I'll also create some overview of different set up on the keyboard to figure out what's best.
I can't do it tonight, I'll keep you posted tommorrow.

would be cool if it matched my CC's:

The one all the way to the right is perfect!  But I doubt SP will be able to match that... if they do I will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not too keen on the whole geekhack signature thing... but as long as it doesn't adversely affect the price of this GB too much and people show enough interest in it, then I guess we will go through with it.

I'm sensing some dislike towards the Geekhack signature key...

Does anyone see the irony here...Everyone here has a terrible addiction, once you start you can't stop...It will chew through your bank account and tear apart your family....meth? no...keycaps that look like meth...yes.
This is priceless... and I believe it is totally sig worthy!

If I could just get the Crystal Keys i'd be interested in a few sets, (number of sets depending on price) but definitely at least 1 set of crystals.
Keyboards:
'The Cheat' - lubed 62g Clears
Ducky Shine 3 TKL lubed 45g Reds (Work)

Done.  You're on the list for crystals only.

would be cool if it matched my CC's:
Show Image

I like how people are so prone to show their Clacks!  :))

At the beginning of this project my idea was to mimic the generic of the show saying one key row 1 and one key row 2 and cristals row 2 besides Ba.
But since I plan to add a geekhack signature this might not be relevant anymore.
I'll make 3 more keys for the signature Ge, H and Ha (we'll keep 2) and I'll also create some overview of different set up on the keyboard to figure out what's best.
I can't do it tonight, I'll keep you posted tommorrow.

I'm not too keen on the whole geekhack signature thing... but as long as it doesn't adversely affect the price of this GB too much and people show enough interest in it, then I guess we will go through with it.

I didn't planed it alone Computer-Lab, this idea has been brought by tjcaustin and Xerobasix and backed up by i3oilermaker and myself.
The signature is an important part imo, without this community these project wouldn't be possible for the majority of us.
I understand your concern about the cost and your words will surely count in the final decision.
Let's just see how it could possibly look like and we'll decide then.

As for the Ha element, it's Hahnium if my sources are correct http://www.ccnr.org/periodic_table.html
I don't know the whole history but it is a fairly recent element if I understood correctly

We don't have to make the GH keys a mandatory part of the set.

Lol forget what I said... after looking back on it I think it's a pretty damn good idea.  I like the whole molecule polygon idea behind it too.
