Sorry. It was a question, if Alps support could be added. I don't think a plate is needed for a 4 switch, personally.

I'm not sure, I always thought that Alps switches require a plate by default, since the design of the switch body does not include any locating features for alignment (unlike MX which has a central dimple and two locating pin. I suppose if you're really careful with alignment, you could do without a plate, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Especially since some Alps stems fit VERY snugly, you would risk pulling the switch off the PCB when you remove keycaps if you choose to go without a plate (the only thing holding the switch to the PCB would be two solder joints)

All good points. Pulling the keys can definitely be an issue, but with such a small board I'd probably just de-solder all the switches to avoid breaking them.
With something like Swills Plate Builder it should be easy to knock up a small batch of plates  :) I would be up to that challenge, I might even mod the PCB i have coming  :thumb:

I think you can expect to receive it next week - I sent the packages all at the same time, and people in other states of Australia have received it yesterday.

So yeah, ideally early next week! I know how you feel though, waiting sucks :( hopefully the surprise is worth it to you boo :D

Yeah it's a yellow Nylon base, it could be swapped out with anything really. I think the material break for the base between the Aluminium and the Nylon will be a nice touch though.

Will see how it looks with the first prototype :D

That's an excellent case design  :thumb:

Will the switches clip into the case (like an integrated plate) or do they just slot through freely? Is the bottom flush with the top? Are you going to run a GB for the case or open source the files for people to try and make their own? Will the case work the PCB you gave us in the keycap buy? (So many questions, but I need to know more about this magnificent slab of metal!  :)))

Thanks bro!

The switches do not clip into the case, they slot freely - mounted to the PCB. The bottom sticks out a little bit, so the Aluminium will appear to be floating :D For style of course :p I have to get it all prototyped up, but I'm confident it will feel and look really good in person!

The PCB will fit into this yes! However, I'm not sure that the USB will line up the same, I will have to check. Regardless, through this groupbuy, the new PCB will be included anyways! PCB's are cheap! Also yes, I will release versions of the case that people can make on their own as a complete DIY project :)

It's OEM profile. Still fits great with a Cherry keyset and you will not have any problems with it unless you've got a case of the OCDs. It won't bother most people. The difference between R1 Cherry and R1 OEM is rather small.

Seriously, OEM is more popular with the majority of mechanical keyboard users, even though Cherry might be more popular with GH users

HMMM good question actually :P Got so many going on, question is which do I release first! A lot of them are ready for prototyping, just need to save up some money first so I can get them made -
then we'll be good to go! Whichever project it is, I cannot wait to get it out to people :D

My only regret is the board I intended to use the RAMA cap with isn't quite ready.  I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend...  :rolleyes:
