Cherry LPOS

Has anyone used the Cherry LPOS keyboard?

It seems to offer a lot of programmability, though I have not found a detailed description of precisely what it can do.

Is it a good alternative to the Kinesis Advantage and the Truly Ergonomic Keyboard? Can it be programmed on computer A and moved to computer B without installing drivers or other software on computer B?

Mal-2 over at Deskthority uses a matrix Cherry G86.

It has essentially nothing to do with Kinesis Advantage or TECK, except it's a keyboard too.

The website says it has "unlimited programmability" of all keys (with up to 131 keys) with 3 layers. However, I've not found a user manual or a review of it. I'd like to know how/if it compares to the macro ability of other boards.

I may have to contact the manufacturer. I have feeling they won't understand how I want to use it, since they appear to be geared toward industrial customers.

I downloaded the Cherry Tools programming utility. I am posting the results in case anyone might be interested.

There are 3 programmable layers, they are not reached by toggle. You have to hold down a modifier (ctrl or shift) and press the key to access layers 2 and 3. (Perhaps a toggle could be jerry-rigged by programming a key with modifier-down-stroke and modifier-up-stroke, but I am not going to buy the product to find out.)

Layers 2 and 3 can only be used by storing macros on the computer. Only layer 1 can be written to the board itself.

At home, I can duplicate the LPOS's functionality with Autohotkeys. At work, the Kinesis is likely still better because of the design. However, the LPOS offers much easier programming, even restricted to 1 layer.

The keyboard looks nice, but the keycaps don't seem to be very good ones. :(

Probably thick POM, i.e., much better than 99 % of the market.
