"This is my favorite 60% that I have typed on, to date. I've typed on an OTD Mini, I've typed on a Unikorn, I've typed on various Duck boards, I've typed on a Keycult... Anyway, this is, for me, a fantastic 60%." - Blacksimon, in his Augur Review

      Augur
      By JLabs

      In-Stock Sale Details:
      • In-Stock Sale will take place on 10/08/2022 at 5:00 PM PDT
      • 200 units will available, half WK and half WKL. Final color distribution is 80 e-white, 60 purple, and 60 black.
      • There will be 100 extra soldered PCBs and 100 hotswap PCBs available for sale
      • Soldered PCB: $35 (one soldered PCB is included with every kit)
      • Hotswap PCB: $45
      • Extra FR-4 plates will be $15 each.

      Design Philosophy:
Augur is a 60% keyboard which brings premium elements to a less-premium price. Augur features isolation gasket mounting and leaf spring plates. Minimalistic front and sides give way to a striking backside and an elegant bottom. Augur uses a Type-C daughterboard to remain immobile while the plate and PCB flex. While the plate is strictly 7u for cleaner acoustics, the PCB supports both 6.25u and 7u layouts. Augur is held together by case screws of two different lengths, so that the screw heads are equidistant from the bottom of the case.

      Design Process and Testing:
Multiple gasket materials, compression ratios, and plate configurations were tested to reach the amount of flex I was looking for in this board. In fact, I designed a test bench with adjustable compression to test the various gasket and plate designs.

      Board Details:
      • Top/Bottom Case: 6063 Aluminum, sandblasted and anodized/electrophoresis coated
      • Accent Piece: Brass, sandblasted and PVD coated
      • Color options: anodized black, anodized purple, electrophoresis coated white (e-white)
      • 6 degree typing angle
      • 18.65mm Real Front Height
      • WK and WKL layouts
      • Isolation gasket mounting system
      • Seamless design

      Plate and PCB Details:
      • The kit will include both full and half FR-4 plates
      • The PCB color is tentatively white, and the thickness is 1.2mm, to promote flex

      Soundtests:

      Sales Info:
      • 200 units will be sold in-stock, but if there is sufficient interest, I am considering opening a groupbuy for a larger quantity with more plate materials and polycarbonate wrist rests.
      • The sale will be FCFS, because past experiences with raffle sales tell me that I'm going to have to chase down at least half of the people who win the raffle form.
      • Prices:
      • $278 for Black or Purple Anodized Kits
      • $288 for E-White Kits

Interesting board. Love that you've put thought into the seamless approach and large weight... I can't help but feel like its just a Tofu when you're looking at the sides / top.

      Looks really good!

Would it be possible to screw the weight from the top instead of the bottom? Ie) so the look of the weight is a bit cleaner without the screw holes.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have considered internal screws for the accent piece, but the accent piece isn't think enough to tap threaded holes in.

You'd be surprised. Going from 1.6mm to 1.2mm already makes a meaningful difference.

Hi everyone, quick update, it appears I accidentally stated the PCB thickness would be 1mm, which was a typo. The actual thickness is 1.2mm. Sorry for any confusion!

is there a reason why the solder layout is more restrictive than the HS?

would love to see stepped caps on solder
other than that i love the simplistic top and sides!
