GL, nice board!
Nice - really keen on joining, any estimations about shipping cost to germany ?
Do we just email you for top/color changing?

Hi! Should I be concerned if i have not received submission confirmation nor invoice since the form is now closed.I don’t think you should be too worried. Earlier in the post he mentions that he’s getting his ducks in order before sending out the invoices. I’d give it til the end of the weekend.

I’m concerned about the weight of the keyboard(light feels cheap). Any suggested methods for adding weight to it?I assume there should be some space under the PCB. I'll just cut a copper sheet and place it in there

Got invoiced then it was cancelled 30 minutes later. Was this accidental ?
Do you have considerations for a polycarbonate printed case seeing how that seems to be the current rage right now?
Hi! Can you make the announcement here when all invoices are dispatched?
Hi! Just want to confirm the invoice amount already includes shipping & handling fee right for the amount is higher than USD185? (I don't remmeber whether the form asked for shipping address. if it does, i surely add my address in)Yeah same situation here.

I'll try and post updates every couple days, even if it's just a "just waiting for things, Belle and I still walk this earth" type of thing.
thank you for the great communication so far on this GB, keep it upWish I could thumbs up to show I agree. This quote will have to suffice
Are we on track for mid nov delivery? :)

I'm just wondering if these foams work / help improving the sound of this board?
Hi everyone, I need some feedback. Belle is concerned about the finish of the colored tops, as opaque filament doesn't have the amazing flaw hiding ability that translucent ones do.Definitely not a fan of what's going on at the edges.
A typical top finish is this (please look at the imgur album)
http://imgur.com/gallery/fM3zqQd (http://imgur.com/gallery/fM3zqQd)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/GyP8eEc.jpg)
She's printing a few more to evaluate - I just want to make sure these are consistent with your expectations for the surface finish. If this is acceptable to most, then full steam ahead - if not, I'll be offering a color change - there are some translucent filaments with a hint of color that would both hide surface flaws and give a little color to the build.
Please stay tuned for more pics, and let me know what you think.

Seems like a consensus so far. So here's the plan. Belle wanted a few more days to see if a little more tweaking could make the difference, so I'll give her that. If we've got no luck, I'll contact everyone who got colored tops and offer them an exchange.Sounds perfectly reasonable. Thanks.
I'm thinking we can use https://www.3dsolutech.com/store/pla (check page 2 for the see through stuff). It'll be a splash of color with the defect hiding properties of translucent filament.
So that's my plan to make this work - I'm sorry that we've gotta make changes, but I'd rather the transparent (heh) and make sure people are getting good stuff.
A final note: the printing defects are an artifact of how large these pieces are, and maintaining thermal stability on a plate that large is very difficult. As y'all know, keyboardbelle is an expert at this stuff, but sometimes you just run into physical limitations. Structural flatness is easily achievable (the bottoms are dead flat, but you don't see the odd defect since it's face down), but of course it's not the case on the tops.
Let me know if that works. Andy
Just sent an email to all participants:Thank you !! I'd reply to the email once the sample pics are in.
Hi there, if you've been following the PLA75 GB thread you may be aware of the issues regarding the surface finish of the top cases - if not, here's the coles notes:
Due to the size of the print and the imperfections inherent in any build plate, there are some imperfections on the tops of the build - you can see pictures here https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=102633.msg2831196#msg2831196
Keep in mind that this is 3D printed and not CNC milled, but with that being said I'd like to offer everyone the opportunity to swap to a translucent (or colored see through, see attached image) top. We are printing a sample with an orange translucent filament, and will have pictures tomorrow. You'd be able to adjust the amount of tops as well, and you will be refunded if you'd like to decrease the amount (I completely understand!)
So please let me know if:
a) I understand the imperfections that may be present on a colored top and I'd like to keep my order as is
b) I'd like to switch to translucent top(s), as they don't show the printing defects
c) I'd like to switch to a colored translucent top. Pictures will be available tomorrow of a sample.
Check your PayPal invoice if you aren't familiar with what you ordered to save some back and forth. Please be timely with your response, as I want to keep this group buy moving - this is not a "disaster," I'd just like to ensure everyone is happy with what they are getting, and should not majorly impact the timeline of the group buy.

So yeah, I'd rather give everyone a heads up and an opportunity to switch than have some people not be satisfied when the GB ships.
Thanks for the update. I'll wait for the black CF picture before deciding, and will reply to your email.
Wow that looks amazing hahaThanks for the update. I'll wait for the black CF picture before deciding, and will reply to your email.
The black CF is printing right now, so we'll get those pictures updated as soon as it finishes.
Large scale 3D printing is still somewhat the Wild West, so I want to make sure I'm balancing what is possible to make with what materials will look the best.
I had some scraps of a color-changing 3M 1080 vinyl wrap Yung Brick print, so those are posted below (I am not an expert in vinyl wrapping, but there should be guides online and it involves a heat gun, craft knife, and some decent vinyl.
Also, I just quickly trimmed the corners. There must be a guide to folding them properly.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/At1SD4l.png)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/h6wTemX.png)
I really dig the black CF.
I'm setting end of day Thursday as the cutoff for getting back to me on changing top colors, as I think a week is fair.Woohoo we're almost there
All non-responders will get their cases printed as invoiced.
Also, Belle wants to clear workspace a bit, and since she has been printing all the translucent cases while we get the colored ones worked out, shes almost done all of them and will be shipping them right away! I'd like to remind non-US customers that you were not invoiced at the GB, and will be invoiced for shipping when your case is ready to be sent. Please get those invoices in promptly.

wait. do you mean translucent orders will ship right away or all orders (once colored tops are printed) will ship as soon as they are done?
I've added a 3rd top due to the successful Black CF top and will pay shipping invoice right-away to avoid any delays.
Thank you and Keyboardbelle for the timely communication and fast turn-around. This is the smoothest GB I've joined to date. <Maybe ADK18 will be smoother but that's for a numpad ;-) >

Venty images coming soon. Decided to just make the vents a tiny bit larger, and keep the crossbar in my back pocket if needed.
Here is a little show off of mine. Only a few weeks and you'll have yours ;)

This looks good. Is this the translucent one? I might change my color choice to this
The first PLA75 has been assembled! (Mostly)
First off, I'd like to thank Brittney for getting mine out as a 'sample run' to see how shipping and first build goes!
So, here is my opinion, the board looks and sounds awesome! The gasket mounting is unique and seemed to work pretty well in my short experience using it so far. The RGB underglow on the clear base is pretty sweet, as well. I did have a small complaint as far as how the base and top were attached. The nut that sits inside of a cutout on the top has just a little bit of extra room, which allows it to wiggle, so that takes a little time to align and get right, but once you get them in they seem nice and snug with no issues! this is the reason i said mostly at the top as i have only gotten 4 of the screws/nuts in but have to disassemble to fix the left ctrl...
I am going to give it a little more use before my full opinion, but so far it's solid! Can't wait to see more builds coming soon! (Attachment Link)
But what are those black/red/gray keycaps in the photo. I need those in my life!I think that's GMK carbon.
I thought GMK Carbon sets had orange in them. I mean the first photo in the OP post. There's red on em. Is the Red Honey mixed with another set?But what are those black/red/gray keycaps in the photo. I need those in my life!I think that's GMK carbon.

Will you be releasing the plate file after the GB end? Have a few kbd75 pcbs laying around. Might as well put them to use
Just a quick update, around half have been shipped out.
Waiting on the extra parts to arrive for the rest.
I also tapped the lower M3 holes with an M3.3 bit to make them a little easier to assemble - if there's any plastic "dust" left over in the packages.
There are two orders with multiple color tops, so those will be the last ones to ship out - I reprinted some of the color tops to get better quality, so those may take just a bit longer.
Thanks!
Can we still buy extra bottoms? My only feedback is that the holes on the bottom are too small for the screws to go thru. One actually got stuck :(
Can we still buy extra bottoms? My only feedback is that the holes on the bottom are too small for the screws to go thru. One actually got stuck :(
Weird. As Belle said we also tapped those to make them even wider. The hole is specced for 5.9mm and the max diameter on the cap screw is 5.68, so that's odd that you're having issues.
Try banging it out from the other end, and maybe taking a small file or drill bit to ream the hole a little. If you still have no luck, email me at rndkbd@gmail.com and I'll get you hooked up.

I finally hammered that little **** out and file the holes. Much easier now. I don't quite like the sound of FR4 so i'll get a POM plate and try that out, anyone want in?

I'm unfamiliar with FR4 and POM plates, so it's impossible for me to say with certainty. Can you share your thoughts on the sound on FR4 vs. POM? I own a PC Think 6.5 with integrated plate so if you can compare with sound on PC boards it would give me a frame of reference; if not, no worries. Thanks!
Hopefully everyone's stuff is finding its way over! The extra square nuts should show up this week, so we hope to have the other half of the orders out before the holiday break! I'm excited to see what your builds look like, and any feedback on the building process/feel/sound.
The plate file is attached for those that want to get their own made. The only rule of use is that you tell me how the different materials sound/feel when you get it made if you're guinea-pigging a new one ;)
assembly notes:
-the vertical gasket wells are slightly longer than the horizontal gasket wells, so cut your gaskets accordingly. do not just blindly make them all the same length.
-this wasn't immediately obvious to me at first: with the top of the case facing down, insert the square nuts into the side slots and align them from above with a pin or small screw head.
-a small jostle or bump can misalign the nuts, so go slowly when fastening the bottom of the case to the top. check that all six screws have attached properly.
-the usb-c port holes are well-aligned, and the tolerances are impressively tight for a 3d-printed keyboard. the case top and bottom sit very flush together.
I haven't received a shipping confirmation so I'll assume it'll be a surprise :D
Have all order gone out for this? No rush, just curious. I have not received tracking.
What's the typing angle btw?
Since mine hasn't shipped yet and I'm actually going to be away for the holidays started pretty soon you guys can take your time with it...

Not sure what you're trying to imply with this. The latter half is being shipped this weekend.

I wasn't trying to imply anything? I mean I'm not going to be home to receive the package for a while so I would actually prefer if you didn't ship it right away.

The remaining PLA75 kits should have received an invoice for $0 to get a shipping label made. I guess you can say I'm checking the list I made twice.Haven't received an invoice. Dropped a PM.
If anyone is away from Christmas, they can fill out the invoice when they return, I thought it would work best if we double check to make sure everyone knows they have a package arriving since it is the holidays.
I also added a description of the included kit items with each invoice to double check all orders.
I'll send out reminder e-mails after Christmas if I have not heard back from someone.
Overall I think the prints came out pretty well, if anyone wants to post feedback on print quality or opinions, I'm curious to see what people expect from a 3D print vs. how the prints came out.
Everyone should have the proper extras and accessories, but if something does seem to be missing, e-mail me at keyboardbelle at icloud.com and I have some leftovers on hand I can send out as replacements.
I usually print my own designs a little differently - but the PLA75 was an interesting project to see a gasket mount build created.
Thanks!
Invoice sent, sorry about that.Thank you for the prompt communication.
I just dropped off a batch of packages at the post office.
I'm reprinting three tops just to get a slightly better quality - so the rest should ship the day after Christmas - I'll try to keep everyone updated via email. We have guests for the holidays, so I'll try to recheck the thread the 26th.
Thanks!
How are we supposed to mount the board? The screws don't seem to go through the holes from the bottom...
https://imgur.com/a/TTBPRMO
This is what I meant... Yea the holes were too tight I don't think the drill bit would help. Kinda sad since this is literally the last step then I could've enjoyed the board :(
Also, are we supposed to remove the plastic films covering the top and bottom pieces? I tried but it seems impossible to remove them.
Yea please keep me posted.
About plastic film, I meant the glossy layer that looks like tape on top of the top / bottom pieces.
The screws I got are way too short. The ones in front don't reach the nut and the backs aren't even half way to the nut.
The screws I got are way too short. The ones in front don't reach the nut and the backs aren't even half way to the nut.
They're long enough. You might have some crud in the holes, so take a small screwdriver and clear it out. You've also gotta squish the case together when assembling, as the screws don't have much leeway, but they will catch and thread.

For my case, even though I tried to expand the hole a little bit the screws only went it a little further. I think something went wrong with the dimensions while printing the bottom because I don't think they are supposed to be this tight...

I'll have keyboardbelle email you about getting a new one to you since you're in the US. In the meantime I would try tapping them in with a punch and hammer - the plastic is really strong, so might as well give it a go. Looks excellent. Apologies again for the troubles and I'm glad you got it worked out. I leave a good 0.5-0.8 mm of clearance for cap screws, but sometimes a printer will overextrude the filament and make holes smaller than they should be, hence the generous tolerance. For future cases I may consider getting a screw that's very close to a nominal drill size, so that people can ream the last couple thousand out of the hole if needed as a backup in case some slip through QC ;)
A few diodes on the PCB seemed to have fallen off during shipping. I was able to find some in the air cap bag but not all. Good thing I had some extra SMD diodes left over from a previous build and got the PCB working 100%. Anyways, I always wanted to make a sticker bomb build and I thought PLA75 would be perfect for it when I first saw it. So here it is:Show Image(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/358532590107623424/661951138702164008/20200102_001716.jpg)

Glad you were able to get it fixed up! Apologies for that. That case looks amazing - I'm stealing this for my Instagram if you don't mind.
First, this looks awesome. Sticker bombing + 3D prints go together well. Also, I have no idea what they do with packages during shipping to make components fall off, glad to see you got it fixed. I tried to put the PCB inside the case itself and inside bubble wrap to keep it secure. I wonder if customs messed with it somehow?
Curious. Do you have RGB LEDs placed on the sides of your PCB? I do believe my PLA75 lighting is much dimmer than yours.

I've received my PLA75 about a week ago.
Transparent bottom is okay, carbon top looks great (mine is prettier than on your photos), teal top looks nice and it is much better than I've expected after the printing problems (it has two small flaws only, but it was my choice to keep this color). Two front screw holes are okay, one front and three back screw holes will need some work when I'll assemble the keyboard (which will happen about a month later).
Thanks for the GB!
Are the holes a little tight? I'd try a round file, or a very gentle Dremel or drill bit.Yes, they are, screw heads stuck at half way down. I think I'll use drill bit and a needle file. Dremel and be very gentle? No way :)
1st time with gaskets. It it just simply just cutting the rubber to the size of the cutouts and screwing the case together?
Been driving this thing for almost a week now and I have to say, it's my favorite board. Spring oiled but otherwise stock Gateron yellows, a filmed/lubed/oiled Cream for spacebar, and C3 stabs lubed with 129. clear top that I got from Belle :)
I finally got my PLA75 built with T1s, MKUltra foam, and C3 stabs (Thanks, Keyboardbelle, for sending me the replacement bottom!)
What made this build very different from my previous builds is that I made use of MKUltra's foam for KBD75 PCB to dampen the noise. Although T1s are not as clacky as HPs, I really wanted to try building a board with properly cut foam, and PLA75 was an ideal choice since it uses a PCB with pre-existing foam from MKUltra. I did have to trim down the edges of the foam to fit PLA75 case but that was a straight-cut with minimal time requirement. I will record and post a typing video on YT at some point.
Yes please! Feel like such a fool for not being ready when the time came.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/i9kPA9Y.jpg)
Due to my namesake I figured I needed a fully red board ;)
I think we can call this one wrapped up, however, in the wake of the GSKT fiasco, I'm considering doing a small run of extras for those that want a nice gasket mount board. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll run it by Belle.
Thanks all, and enjoy the isolation mount clacks :)

I finally got my PLA75 built with T1s, MKUltra foam, and C3 stabs (Thanks, Keyboardbelle, for sending me the replacement bottom!)

Ooooo dat cf tho
I use T1s on my prototype, so I'd love to hear the difference the foam makes. How are those c3 stabs?

I uploaded a quick typing test video. My fingers were frozen so my typing is error-filled, but you'll get an idea. Also, I think I placed the microphone too close to the board this time as you'll hear some background thumping. The thumping is not audible when using the board.
Any extras?
Full sculpt R0-R5 PLA75 build. Sounds and feels awesome. Painless build. Thanks for running this.Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200202/e5e3df8d26cf8374256a2e4a9a83bedc.jpg)
Finally got around to building mine, and sadly I have the same issue with the screw holes as well as a diode that popped off in transit. Fixed the diode easily, but what's the recommended method for widening the screw holes to spec? Can I drill out the hole without it melting or ruining a bit?
Also I'm finding it very difficult to keep the nut aligned while also preventing it from falling out. I'm going to just put a piece of clear tape over the slot.
Any extras?
DM me, I have a few.
Any plans for a PLA60? ;D
