I think once I make about 50 or so caps, I'll put together a small sale. I'm getting pretty good at making near perfect caps but I do have imperfect ones in every batch.

By imperfect I mean with very small defects, like a small air bubble... Or a corner that chipped a tiny bit. They all fit well and these defects are only apparent on very close inspection. These I think I'll sell at a discounted price, I'd hate to throw them away for such small issues.

Since I'm dealing with small quantities I'll probably just number and price them individually.

Love the colors. Especially the purple and gold. It reminds me of chamomile tea. I'm thinking a full set of different shades would look wonderful over a white backlight.

Fyi, HEB sells a very good artisan rootbeer made from raw local honey. I'll pick up a bottle the next time i see it. I think you'd like the color for a keycap.

Made a few more colors, unfortunately I think with the blue one I demolded them slightly too early and damaged nearly all of them, so now I hardly have any that that would be fit for sale. Think I'll good those another shot.

Agreed! they came out looking better than I thought. For the blue I would have liked to use some silver metallic pigment if i had some, but for now its just gold.

Hey everyone! After this set (which I'm quite happy with), I probably only have enough resin for one or two more sets. After which I'll see if I can throw together a sale for those interested.'

Dude, these, as well as all the others in this thread, are awesome. Lots of colours and colour combinations that I've never seen before elsewhere.

Hey guys! Its been awhile..

So I am likely going to get a sale going this weekend! I'm out of resin so I figured this would be the best way to get some more :).

I've got about 50 caps, and about 10-15 factory seconds caps with minor flaws. They will all be labeled/numbered individually, since no 2 are the same. Price will be probably be <10 dollars each, and im thinking if you buy more then 2 caps, ill throw in one or two of the factory seconds. More details to follow....

I got a little crazy earlier :s Purple + gold

Oh my.. how did the cap turn out??

The cap i made with that resin ended up being too big again =/. The casts for whatever reason end up being slightly bigger inside the stem and not fit properly, I'm casting with some new molds tonight, the resin this time ended up being a little less purple and little more gold. At this point though, I just want to get a mold that yields a key that will fit properly. Have any cap makers ran across this problem? and how did you fix it?

PM BunnyLake he may be able to help.

Thanks, but Binge helped me out a bit with this, turns out I was demolding it a bit too early, and in the process.. slightly stretched the stem as i was wiggling it out of the molds. Solution: Let it cure in the mold for a day :).

Hey Zazie_rx, any chance you can share what resin you are using for you translucent caps?

BJB TC-857

Its not classified as a 'water-clear' on BJB's site, but it ought to be.. comes out very clear with no fumes!
I used the same resin for both, but the pigment i use is dry.. so more pigment = no longer translucent. Since I bought from BJB, they called me and were kind enough to offer me free samples, this time around I'm going to snag some resins that cure to white for the non-translucent caps i plan on making (like the Cyan/Pink Outrun caps), along with more TC-857.

Interesting, thanks! For non-translucent caps have you considered using Urethane liquid plastics instead? Something along the lines of Smooth Cast 300 or ONYX. They have a low viscosity almost that of water and set in 15 min.
