You can't really match a dye on one plastic color to the color of another plastic, these aren't doublshot :-P

I guess I'm just trying to come to terms with the fact that I can't count on any of the colours mentioned being the right ones. But the shades are somewhat like what was advertised.

I really don't understand what you mean. The PBT color codes are fixed.

Well, color codes don't really mean anything if they can range between any shade of the primary color in that color code :-)

All PBT colors are the same all along the whole set. I still don't understand what you mean.

On the group buy the blue sublimated legends on the Intl sets were listed as being the BCT blue from signature plastics. And it seems as if the blue legends on the Intl sets in the picture posted today are lighter than BCT. I.e. not same color as BCT. And as you said, it is a lighter blue for a reason, I'm guessing due to SPs sublimation problems on their Intl kits.

I was not aware that the listed colors would be different to that extent on the final product
I was aware the pictures were mockups, but I thought the colors listed were solid. I.e. that the BCT on the legends would look like the BCT from their color wheel.

I hope that made it more clear.

The colors on the GB page refer to the PBT color codes, ie: the keycap color. The legends are sublimated and they have nothing to deal with the PBT colors. The color of the legends has not been disclosed anywhere.

The secondary legends on the international kits are light blue to give them a lesser visual weight.

Color codes are for the PLASTIC not the text color.

I'm in southern England and got "Attempted Delivery - Item being held, addressee being notified" on the Stamps tracking site.

Royal Mail delivered a customs note two or so hours later - £8.44 customs charge and £8 Royal Mail handling fee!

On top of that, they won't redeliver until wednesday :(

Regarding orders with international kits.

I believe orders with international kits will be processed last.

Regarding the Cyrillic set and sublimation in general.

It seems that the only way to have a very sharp and dark legend is by placing the legend straight in the middle. Legends that are near the edges might come out a little "blurry". This is something I didn't know and SP never mentioned.

Also, my Cyrillic set actually came out pretty well (not as bad as the pictures above at least), so I believe it's just a set up problem. Some kits might come up worse than others based on how well the sheet wrapped the keycaps during sublimation. In fact my kitty cap (the closest to the margin of the legends) is pretty much perfect, meaning that it mostly depends on the skill of the machinist.

Now, please note that a little color variation or blurriness is understand and should be considered within the error margin of the technology. If you feel that you received a flawed kit, send the pictures to SP and ask if the your set is within acceptable margin. Don't be and áss when asking, kindness will be awarded.

Regarding bent/warped keys.

DSA PBT is very well know to be less "flush" than ABS, there are a lot of pictures around of blank PBT DSA kits. Sublimated kits have to be heated again to print the legend, so warping is even more likely to happen. Again a little shape variation is understood. I prefer a set that is slightly warped to one that shines after 2 months of usage.

I don't think the stem could come out off center or at least it would be very difficult. It is more likely that it is just bent on a side.

Little imperfections can be actually fixed with a heat blower (I'm not sure a hair dryer is enough) and lot of patience. I'm not sure anyone can do it at home. If you look at my pictures none of the sets I have are noticeably (or unbearably) distorted, but if you fell that some of your keys are really too warped --again-- take a picture and ask SP if the error is within margin.

If you want an opinion before asking SP, send a picture of the culprit together with an OK cap here on the forum.

YES PBT DSA is very know to have these warps. I have several sets and a lot of my keys are perfect, but there are a few that are VERY curvy on one side. [both granite and other sets]
Use a hairdryer. CK melted a PBT spacebar with his. I fear many GHers will mangle their keys with a  real heat gun.

Yup. You can blame Royal Mail for the fee. Are you sure 8.44 was customs and not tax, though? So far as I know SP did not charge you tax as it varies depending on where you live.

Ok, thank you for clearing that up then. I must've misunderstood the information in the IC and on the group buy page.

I'll take some more pics tomorrow during the day time.

That looks really sharp! I received my caps back on 6/26, but I admit I haven't even opened the package yet :(

I had this hare-brained scheme that I was going to build my own DIY keyboard but there's not been much progress lately. Oh well, maybe I'll buy a Poker or another QFR.

My order was an international one, and I am already typing with it. I can confirm that the sides of the keys are a little bended downwards. The macross ones as a reference are pretty much straight.

The texture of the caps is just great for typing, and they feel a little heavier than the ABS DSA ones.

Overall, I am very happy with my set, the legends are as clear and crisp as the double shot ones, and I may say this may be the end game set for me. I already have more keycap sets than keyboards to use them on.

I may be in for additional caps of the same type if a new GB is offered. I want other set to dress my home keyboard. The current Granite will be used on my keyboard at work.

Thank you Matt.

I got my Granite set and a wire puller.  At first I thought F5 - F8 were the same color as the modifiers. I guess I can't tell the difference between GDE and GQT.  :)) I do wish that I got more than just the common kit and text mods, but I only had $75 to spend towards this group buy.

Thanks matt3o and SP!

If you end up wanting anything else, there should be a solid aftermarket. As a 75$ set, you can't really get much better, so it's a solid buy.

Hope you (and i) like them. This will be my first taste of this profile.

I guess I'll be the first one to post a 75% with these.
Too bad my webcam is all I have to do that with.

I got the set knowing that escape and the arrow keys don't quite fit the KBT Race's unusual form. I like the way it looks with extra space.

Got my order! These keys are beautiful!

But...

I think mine got packaged right before lunch or at the end of a shift, haha.
Got quite the goof in my package. My packing slip is correct though.
No scooped "F" or "J" in common kit
Mono Legends missing but probably because they were switched with International Mono, which I did not order (although I love the Space Invader key).
International Mono missing "É" also looks like some ink made it onto the edge of the 1x enter key.

These will go back in the box until it gets figured out.

I apparently got my granite yesterday while i was out town but I didn't know because no tracking and it got rained on slightly but no leak into box. I checked my spam and no stamps email. I'm really excited about getting my caps but I am disappointed sp failed to notify me so that I could make arrangements, I really hope this was a fluke.

Keyboards look great guys, 40% especially

Sucks that you didn't get any notification, but look on the bright side. Receiving it must have been a pleasant surprise. ;D But seriously, hopefully SP will refine there system for the next major GB.

I use a really weird layout. I feel it's way nicer to press the enter key with my index finger then with my pinky. Here is my full layout if you are interested.

Mine turned up just an hour or so ago after me getting worried for no reason as they they had "disappeared" from the tracking system for a few days once they left the US.

I offer a potato phone pic of what I've decided on for the time being but they yellow keys are SO nice i almost want a keyboard purely in that colour ;)

My only slight nit pick is the space bar seems to me to be maybe 1mm too small in width and tends to wiggle on the mounts a little more than the old one and I didn't realise the indented caps lock would be an off centre mount, so i'll get around to seeing if i can modify that / fiddle with the space bar and plastidip my case perhaps in a grey colour to match this weekend :)

All round really pleased with the results however, thanks Matt3o & Signature Plastics for an excellent group buy experience.

Nice one :)  You're making me want to put the gray modifiers on mine now!

Mine have irregular spacing like that, not quite as bad though.

Matt had this to say about the spacing:

Regarding bent/warped keys.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Finally got the set!

Looks really great, the only thing I don't like is how the keys have odd spacing between the keys. Overall great though.

Kinda wish I had gotten more kits than just the common kit and text mods now :(

When I saw the photo it looked like it was some body's lame attempt at making key-caps in their back-yard but Yikes it's a Company's Attempt at doing very bad PBT dye-sub.

Even the cheapest CHINESE attempt at making a complete Key-set is FAR SUPERIOR to SP's.  What the HELL?

Another thing too, we also happened to have paid far more for these than any Chinese Made Sets.  I'm still waiting for my Imsto's BSP version and I suspect theirs will be far better in quality than what's currently distributed here.  Who would of thought that the Chinese now would make better quality PBT sets than the US of A.

Everyone is tip-toeing around too scared to say what every one is clearly seeing with their own eye's, like the hell I will be forced to play around with a fvcking HEAT-GUN to fix SP's mistakes.

As you can guess I'm no SP Fan-boy here when it comes to basic quality with key-caps, WHICH THEY HAVE FAILED in this attempt at making a PBT set.  Imagine (me) sinking over $396.00USD + Shipping for CRAP looking key-caps such as these.  Boy, got sucked in like a noob here.

Don't give a crap about any fan-boys opinion here, just had to type what I see here, especially losing so much money over these horrible quality key-caps that have ever come out of their factory thus far.........  Word of advice for SP just stick to ABS leave PBT alone, for the sake of future land fill sites please.

They certainly are a little lower quality than I expected. My legends have a bit of fade towards the ends and the keys do have a big of warp and rough edges which I wasn't really expecting. Also my yellow "win" keys are extremely thin and let light through. I hope these are all addressed before Galaxy class enters production

I agree with Mercury7, the quality is a bit lower than I would like and there are some flaws minor flaws in the execution.  Matt's work is gorgeous though, so that makes up for the other shortcomings.

I have not had issues transitioning to the DSA caps though.  It is a little different, but i am feeling pretty comfortable on them already.

Here are a couple pictures...

This second image shows how the keycaps sit on my minimal case.
