Are the enters in the 40s kit supposed to be 1.5 or 1.75?
Assuming they're 1.75, please add r2 1.75u backspace and r3 1.5u enter.

Thank you for the catch, yes the enters should be 1.75 and have been updated.
As for the other caps, 40s kits are always "just a few more caps" away from capability for something and at some point a line needs to be drawn. That said, if enough feedback presents itself to warrant the addition I'll consider it.
Finally! Super excited for this to return and am stoked that there's a forties kit this time. Have some recommendations on that point:
- Please add R2 1.75u backspace and R3 1.5u return for minivan support (I'm assuming the enters already there are mislabeled and are really 1.75u) This is the most popular staggered 40% layout.
- Remove the 2u shift, this is not used on any 40s
- Consider adding support for ut.47/whimsy via R3 1.25u return and R4 1.5u shift
To get the kit back down to size after making these additions I would recommend
- Remove non-accent return keys, Control can be used instead to retain the non-accent color
- Change the second 1u shift legend to "Send" to act as a generic for either shift or non-accent return on ortho boards.
Additionally, it would be awesome to see basic 40s support added to the midnight kit! You would just need to add the 3 following keys to that kit.
- R2 1.75u backspace
- R3 1.25u tab
- R3 1.5u enter
Thanks for your consideration!

Surprises?
On the way!
The biggest difference here, is the removal of full UK ISO support. :'(
Unfortunately the usage on these kits keeps getting smaller, and it is with a heavy heart that I must bid it adieu and offer a paired down 'coverage' kit.
This is not meant as criticism but I was just curious what the reason/design decision was (if any) for the split mod style (red for bottom two rows and yellow for all the others). I really like the color scheme and overall feel of the design but that aspect felt a bit random to me. I know it's probably too late at this point since it's already R2 and it would add so many keycaps but personally I would love for the option to have either full yellow and full red mods, maybe even as an extension kit.
Either way I am excited for the Midnight set and I'll join for novelties as well so I can get those extra accent colors!
MIDNIGHT
Midnight, you are not forgotten! A precious few were able to experience this colorway due to the modifier add-on kit required, and I received LOTS of feedback on it. Available now as a standalone kit, this reworked midnight offering brings in the mono novelties that cramped the R1 signs kit, and the accent arrows from the R1 extras.
All sounds a bit too good to be true doesn't it? And you'd be right... so much fun has to come at a cost. You'll have to give up your numpad to do it.

Totally happy to answer this as many might not know. I wanted this set to break from the traditional "alphas one color, mods another" and feature a uniform base color. Which posed a bit of a problem when it came to incorporating the 3 legend colors i wanted. The early Symbolics keyboards featured split mod legends on the two bottom rows, and it felt like the perfect way to give a nod to those early keyboards, as well as further help this set come into its own.

Been waiting for R2 for a long time! That said, I hate how useless the CAPSLOCK key is so I have it rebound to BACKSPACE.
I know it's a high ask to get an actual R3 1.75u Backspace to replace Capslock, but based on R1 Metropolis I thought I could at least replace Capslock with the yellow R3 1.75u Signs keycap. Unfortunately that keycap has been cut from R2...
Any chance we can get a 1.75u R3 keycap back in the Signs pack? I don't want to be stuck with a Capslock key :(
Everything else looks great!
Hey your "compact" kit is missing a few keys.
Also there's some **** in there that nobody really needs.
Row 2 1.75u backspace, row 3 1.5u Enter and row 3 1.25u Tab will get you the physical compat you need for most 40's.
Oh. Can u also consider adding an SEA vendor? Either ILumkb or Monokei. Thanks.

1.75u r2 backspace and 1.5u r3 return in 40s?
To support maximum 40s for minimum keys r2 1.75u backspace and r3 1.5u enter and r3 1.25 tab is the way to go. There's recently been a push for base kit 40s and that's accomplished by adding these three keys.
The 1.75 enter that you already have, whilst nice, is nowhere near as essential since caps lock or control (same row and size) could be used in it's place.
please add r2 1.75u backspace and r3 1.5u enter.
I agree w/ others about adding a 1.75 backspace and 1.50 enter in the Compact kit... gotta have that minivan compatibility!
Dear Users,
This hobby and industry was born as a community centered around joining projects you believe in, and feel you have a part in. You have more than showed up on that first part, and definitely exercised your voice on the second. Now it's time for me to do my part... You asked and asked for a Metro 40s kit and, based on the above, what I provided for R2 clearly isn't it. The flop on the Compact kit is on me, and I fully admit my ignorance when it comes to 40%. I am officially taking another pass at this kit, and would ask you to keep taking an active role in providing feedback on it.
I wont waste time with fancy renders, so look past the crude mockups to the gold at the end of the rainbow. This is still an interest check after all, right?
Consider me humbled, and stay tuned.

Had the great pleasure today to step into the 40% discord to bring this kit up to this point.
This should hopefully be an answer to a lot of the feedback that has been posted here, and falls within the same cap count as what was provided previously.
My hope is that this kit redeems this set for those that felt put off by the original one, as well as makes strides to change 40s kits to be more in line with what those users actually use.
ok, for this iso gets coverage in general physically unless this kit is made there are very many 40s boards that literally can't have the proper physical coverage. You asked and asked for a Metro 40s kit and, based on the above, what I provided for R2 clearly isn't it. It’s great that you’re taking on feedback in this manner, but I have to ask: are 40% users such a significant portion of customers that this is worth doing, but supporting the 3 additional keys for ISO-UK isn’t?
Just gonna sound like a broken record here but I definitely think you should go the 3 key routeHey your "compact" kit is missing a few keys.

so you definitely have some choices, can't wait to see what you do!
I think Swishy means that you might be best off including the 3 keys in the base kit rather than a whole separate 40's kit.
Ease correct me if I'm wrong, but that is def a smart move. There's a not insignificant number of people to whom this set is useless unless they have 40's keys. If it happens to run in a crowded month it might be tough to make MOQ on a 40's kit ESPECIALLY if there's other sets that went with the 3 keys in base.

I don't think Merto 2 is going to have any troubles hitting MOQ. A lot of people missed out on this one in R1, which didn't have a large 40s kit in the first place, and I'm guessing it's going to sell quite a bit.
Oh everyone knows MOQ will hit. It's more of a question of are you reaching the most target audience (in the 40s community) by providing 3 key versus a 40s kit, as there is most likely a ~$40 price difference. The downside to 40s kit is that many 40s users don't want to pay $160 for support on a keyboard with about 40 keys, and those people are going to end of not purchasing this set at all. The downside to 3 key is that it doesn't support every 40s board. Nice to see this conversation on GH though. Most people are figuring out what is best as they go.
Any consideration for icon plus text modifiers? :'(
What are the chances of a simple NORDE Kit? Would it hurt to put up a kit to see if it reaches MOQ?
Let's also not forget that this is a round 2 keyset. Which means there are those that purchased the base kit in round 1 (which didn't have 40s support) who would not need to purchase it again, and who would like to add 40s support to their keyset. So their total cost actually goes down from $130 to $40.
Any consideration for icon plus text modifiers? :'(
So sorry! I know its a divisive thing, but i feel like the cherry icons directly conflict with the metro icons and cause a mismatch.
What are the chances of a simple NORDE Kit? Would it hurt to put up a kit to see if it reaches MOQ?
The trouble with "seeing if it reaches MOQ" is that from a vendor perspective, if it doesn't, they either need to refund the amount (and lose money in the process), cancel the order (and cause outrage), or suck up and buy the extras to reach MOQ (which leaves them holding a lot of product thats too niche and doesn't sell after ).
This is also historically been the issue with sole UK kits, and even 40% kits.
Would of been a insta grab if it had UK ISO, will have to pass otherwise :(Was really hoping this would support NorDe this time. Unfortunately, looks like I’m going to have to pass, no matter how much I’d want this set with the mat an all.
At least you have some GMK Norde kits... I’m using French AZERTY and it’s slim pickings out there. Some KAT sets and that’s it... For the 5th most spoken language that kinda sucks.Would of been a insta grab if it had UK ISO, will have to pass otherwise :(Was really hoping this would support NorDe this time. This set really is crying fir an international set with UK, NorDe, PT etc.

FYI there's an ePBT kit coming out with AZERTY support you can see here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=108937.0 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=108937.0)
The biggest difference here, is the removal of full UK ISO support. :'(
Unfortunately the usage on these kits keeps getting smaller, and it is with a heavy heart that I must bid it adieu and offer a paired down 'coverage' kit.

Please could you share your source for the reduced usage of ISO-UK? I'm trying to gather some statistics in this area.
Hello sir, just posting to leave one more +1 for a potential NorDe. Would love to get the Midnight Metropolis for the Iron165 in teal with ISO. Your set is beautiful!
Norde would indeed be nice.

Yes, it isn’t just this set (which is amazing), but this TYPE of set that has really poor availability in NorDe space. Pity.Hello sir, just posting to leave one more +1 for a potential NorDe. NorDe is love! Any set in this colorway (like Modern Dolch or pre color change Origami) would be ludicrously supported in EU if it finally gave us decent NorDe ... imo.
Any chance for a NorDe kit in r3?
I have looked at many sets with colored legends on dark caps but none featured NorDe. Does GMK not offer this or why is there no NorDe set?
Would you consider adding R3 PgUp and R4 PgDw? That would make it a must-buy for me.
I wish there was an affordable way to get a B for my R1.There is: sell your old set and buy R2
OMG, this is the best set I've ever seen and it does not have UK ISO....Someone kill me please
nephlock, please reconsider. We NEED this :(

there's 1500 base kits from R1 w UK iso out in the world and I bet many would sell you the compatibility keys we'd never use over here.
anyways how long till surprises?
Sorry noob question - whats missing for Full ISO support - the base image looks to have all the keys I would need for 60% where are the gaps?

The least amount of different keys to make a proper ISO support board would be UK I think.
I think it's 6 keys + short left shift + vertical enter. Those 6 are
R1 - [`¬] [2 "] [3 £]
R3 - [' @] [# ~]
R4 - [\ |]
When you get into all the different variants of ISO it expands a lot more though.
End of the day, I'm not sure for how many ISO users I speak for, but having physical ISO support is meaningless if the legend support isn't available to have the correct key caps. Might as well just drop physical ISO to save money for the rest of the ANSI only userbase. Even more so when the price for keycap sets are what they are. It's not worth it getting a product not fit for purpose when one of the main points about the mech hobby is preference, which to some is the ISO layout.

That could be an ok option as last resort - but nothing really beats getting all these toys brand new. Is R1 a 100% match even (honest question - was not around that time)?
Since I'm kind of new to the whole thing, is this type of resales taking place frequently on geekhack?
Still I cross my fingers for an ISO extension set! Hopefully this will be one of the last minute surprises.

Noob question and I don’t know if it’s been answered, but is this going into GB? As the first post mentioned that it’ll start today
It’s just crossed midnight in the US, hasn’t it? Most of these run on US time. Expect it to go live later.
