Mmm, I was literally just at the Rogue pub at the PDX airport; had their hazelnut ale and chocolate cake made from that same stout.

I like chocolate stouts, haven't tired any milk stouts though, will have to do that sometime.

I didn't actually realize the Rogue's chocolate stout had hops in it. While they aren't overbearing, it does leave an interesting taste since I'm not a huge fan of hoppy beers. Ah well, time to get acclimated to hops I guess.

My favorite is Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro. I highly recommend it, especially if you can find it on tap somewhere. They also bottle it – just make sure you're getting the Nitro version and that you have a pint glass handy. Drinking it from the bottle is blasphemous.

Have I posted this here already?

TL DR

"It turns out that for a decade, whenever Trump wanted to get a loan, or make a deal, he would inflate the value of his real estate. For instance, suggesting that his 11,000-square foot penthouse was a 30,000-square foot penthouse.
And the attorney general of New York knew that Trump's property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties.
It was all part of a very sophisticated real estate practice known as “lying.”

Ooooh, give Surly a try!  That's one of my favourites from the cities.  There are lots of really good micro breweries around the area, if you ever visit again I recommend giving all the rest of them a try too.  :)

I read it to see what people say about particular beers. People rate beers and make comments on beers basically. It gives you a pretty good idea of what a beer is like.

Yep, this is basically the same way I use beer advocate. Whenever I get excited about a certain beer style, I go read about the top ~10-15 beers. Usually one or two of them are common enough that you can find them next time you go to a bar or whatever.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I have a really crappy phone camera, so here are some potatoes from last night during the Olympic opening ceremony.

This last one is shaped like Buddha.  The beer was not very good, but I got it solely for the bottle so I don't even care.

Eh, it was alright.  :)  Also, better pic now that I've got the camera.  Just in case anyone wanted to actually see some detail.  :P

And here's what I'm drinking tonight.  I thought the Welsh were the sheep shaggers?  Interesting that this is a Scotch Ale.

Just had some Avery White Rascal and, surprisingly, was disappointed.  I used to love the beer, but it tasted less complex this time around and like the flavors were fighting with each other and not working together to make the glass of cohesive awesomeness that I remember.

So now I need some recommendations for a Belgian style Witbier.

For those of you who were interested in the Mikkeller's Beer Geek Vanilla Shake that I posted earlier, here's your chance to get a special limited edition bourbon barrel aged version of it:

http://shop.mikkeller.dk/shop/beer/mikkeller-beer-geek-vanilla-shake/

I finally popped open a bottle of this stuff and its pretty amazing :)

It has a nice, smooth, thick, creamy mouthfeel. Flavors consist of lots of vanilla, coffee, some milk chocolate, and dark roasted malt. It tastes sweet, but with enough bitterness to balance it from being overwhelming. Low carbonation, very drinkable, thick stout that hides its 13% ABV very well.

Home brew - Grain bill - 90% 2row, 10% carapils with 1 oz willamette hops at 60 min.

It is actually very bright green in the right light, and without condensation on the cup is essentially very clear. I was quite happy with this one.
